REFLECTIONS BY JILL for August 7, 2006

REFLECTIONS BY JILL…. Did anyone have any doubts that Evangeline would get her sight back? Of course you didn’t. There were some tense moments at first when the doctor removed the bandages and she couldn’t see. You could really feel her disappointment and despair when she finally believed that she would be blind for the rest of her life. And I really felt sorry for that doctor being berated by old Todd, Mr. Patience and Understanding. I guess Todd figures that if you spend enough money you get whatever you want. Now that Evangeline can see again it will only reinforce what he believes, won’t it?

I figured that when Evangeline least expected it we’d see her opening her eyes and having that blurry vision thing going on like they usually do on soaps with her vision slowly clearing, but wow, she just opened her eyes and boom, her vision was back. Hey, at least now she can actually see those two boneheads, Cristian and Todd, fighting over her and she can nip their pettiness in the bud before they get too out of hand. It’s amazing that they still go at each other even after one of their stupid arguments almost cost Evangeline her life.

Anyway, I’m glad she can see again and I loved the scenes between her and Cristian, but just as I get annoyed with Todd’s behavior, Cristian’s behavior is getting on my nerves as well. He was totally out of line in Evangeline’s room when Todd came in and later on in the hallway I thought Cris had a lot of nerve when he told Todd that he wasn’t going to ALLOW Evangeline to be indebted to Todd. ALLOW? Love or not, Evangeline is not going to take that garbage for a minute. I did read in a couple of places that we shouldn’t bet yet on this romance lasting. I’m all for it lasting if Cristian can reign in the macho crap, but lots of people are rooting for a Todd/Evangeline duo. As far as I can see, Todd can’t get over Blair. He can’t keep from following her around and bating her every chance he gets. If he didn’t still love her so much, he wouldn’t care, but he can’t let her go. That’s why I don’t think his feelings for Evangeline are the same as Cristian’s are. And he did tell Cris that he did what he did for Evangeline because of what she did for him. Somehow I don’t see romantic sparks between Todd and Evangeline, but that’s just me.

And I must say that it’s great to have the old Nora back. I have missed her sense of humor and the way she calls a spade a spade. I died laughing when she walked into Evangeline’s hospital room and found Todd being his annoying self and said to him, “Well, I see dying hasn’t changed you.” What was just as funny was Todd’s line when he replied, “Oh, it’s Coma Mama!” Nowhere else can you see hatred expressed with so much humor as between Nora and Todd.

And I loved the scenes where Nora and RJ were together; especially the one where they were sitting in Angel Square drinking real coffee and Nora said it was “bliss.” I even enjoyed the scenes where Nora fired nurse #3 and Matthew was furious with her. That young man is quite the little actor. And good for Paige when she walked in and in answer to Nora asking what she was doing there, she said, “I’m here to kick your ass.” That’s what Nora needed and it sure did work.

The scenes where Starr and Todd had their little talk about boys were so good. One of the only times I really like watching Todd is when he’s with Starr because they have such a strong and loving relationship. He gives her just what she needs when she’s insecure by making her understand that she’s beautiful and smart and that any guy would be lucky to be with her. Every girl needs that from her dad and in her crazy family’s world, at least Starr can always count on Todd to be on her side. Now Starr is hurt and some people think she’ll fake a worse injury than she has to get her parents back together. That sounds like Starr.
