REFLECTIONS BY JILL for June 25, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Well, I certainly got my dose of laughter last week from David Vickers. It’s such a joy having him back and I laughed every time he was on my screen, from the moment he showed up on Dorian’s doorstep demanding she pay him the $10 million he didn’t get from Asa when John had him sprung from prison, to showing up at the Palace Bar in Dorian’s red coat (hysterical), to his short stay with John.

Let’s face it, there was nothing funnier than David showing up on John’s doorstep telling John that he had nowhere to stay and he owed him. John’s reply was classic when he looked at David and said, “Who told you that, the convict fairy?” Of course what other answer would David have than, “Can I use your toothbrush?” And how about John waking up and finding David in his undies doing his Tai Chi? (And yes, I probably spelled that incorrectly so if those few readers who criticize my spelling and grammar are concerned, feel free to write me.) What else could John say besides, “Put your pants on.”

Coming up, David is going to be cozying up to Viki and making Dorian crazy, which I cannot wait to see. It’s going to be a riot and if you remember the last time Viki and David tangled, you’ll have to agree.

Although I enjoyed many of the prom scenes, I am glad it’s over. I love Starr and have even warmed up to her relationship with Cole, but some of those numbers were a bit silly and over the top. The young people on the show are talented, but some of the songs just weren’t very good.

I did enjoy Starr and Cole together. The scenes were very cute and most of all I got a lot of laughs about Starr’s dress, which was the star of the prom if you ask me. It was hysterical how many times that beautiful dress was ruined and revived like new. You just knew that when the food started flying in Dorian’s house, Starr’s dress would be the casualty. How appropriate of David to walk in on it and say, “La Boulaie, house of insanity.” That about covers it. Then Starr had to fall in a puddle of mud and miraculously Aunt Viki revived it like new with some tissues in a hospital room. And that dress dried miraculously well, as did Starr’s hair, when she and Cole were outside the prom getting drenched in the rain and two seconds later they went inside and the dress was dry, as was Starr’s hair. Where can we buy clothes like that? LOL!

It was nice to see Starr and Cole back together and it was pretty funny the way Marcie yelled at Brittany and her friends about stuffing the ballot box, then proceeded to do the same so that Langston and Markko would win the crowns. Note to casting director: Hiring the girl who plays Langston (sorry, forget her name) was a good move. She’s a talented young woman and I like her character. I hope she gets some good storylines and sticks around.

And how about Marty being the bigger person and showing up at Dorian’s with Cole to try to convince Blair to let the kids see each other? Marty didn’t have much choice in the matter when Cole said to her, “Hey, if you can marry that creep, I can be with Starr” and Marty said, “That’s different.” Cole’s response to that put Marty in a position where she couldn’t say a word when he said, “Yeah, the difference is that I LOVE STARR!” It figures that Blair would be obnoxious about it and criticize Marty about not caring what the kids did, but I could understand Blair a lot more later on when Cristian talked to her about Todd. She had to admit that letting Starr see Cole was totally going against what Todd would want and if she let it happen, it would be like admitting that Todd wasn’t coming back and she was the only decision maker. It’s about time that Blair started to realize that a lot of what she’s been doing where Starr is concerned is all about her and the insecurity in her own life and has nothing to do with Starr. She has admitted that Starr is a good girl and she knows that Cole is not a bad kid. Cristian got her to think of Starr before her own problems and that was a very good thing. And let’s face it, she made Starr happy by agreeing to let her see Cole and that had to make Blair feel good.

I have to say that my biggest laugh came from Blair when she told Marty that Cole is spoiled. EXCUSE ME BLAIR! Is she kidding? Does she remember the antics her little angel used to pull as a child and was allowed to get away with by her mother while her father laughed and appreciated the fact that his little girl was just like him?

Now we’re going to find out more about what Todd is up to, along with Sara (Flash) and the new character, Hunter. I would say I can’t wait, but I’d be lying. Sorry.

I was glad that Antonio forgave Cristian. I felt sorry for Cristian when it seemed like there was no way he was going to get through to Antonio and get him to see why he kept the truth about Jess and Nash from him. Antonio had to think twice when Cristian asked him what he would have done if the shoe were on the other foot and he knew a secret that could hurt him. Antonio will get over the sadness he’s feeling right now, but I sure don’t blame him for whatever he feels these days.
