Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for June 18, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

It was pure David when John got him sprung from jail with an ankle bracelet and David asked, “Hey, do you think you can get me another one so one leg doesn’t become overdeveloped?” Then he had me laughing again when they decided to get him some clothes and he said, “Natural fibers only. It’s a religious thing.” I wish Tuc Watkins would sign a lifetime contract.

It was pretty funny when Dorian ran to tell Clint about David being innocent and only confessing because Asa agreed to pay him $10 million to kill Spencer. I sure wasn’t surprised when Clint was suspicious of Dorian and asked her if she was keeping the secret because David agreed to cut her in on the money. When it comes to money, you can’t put anything past Dorian and everyone knows it. And maybe Clint should stop and wonder why he’s so intent on dating a woman who would make him think that of her.

Moving on to another creep, we have Tate. Isn’t Adriana a bright girl? She agreed to date him. Give her a gold star. At least Viki had the smarts to suspect that something was fishy about Tate’s father when he showed up at the hospital and was so concerned about her family when he doesn’t even know Jessica. I thought Bo was a bit too obvious when he came to the hospital and started questioning Tate’s father, but maybe Bo didn’t care. He got what he wanted because Tate’s father couldn’t even look him in the eye and kept his back to Bo most of the time. That said it all. And we got a little insight into Tate’s history when he could barely stand to be in his father’s presence at the diner and reminded him that he had never been there for him as a child and he didn’t need him now. In case you hadn’t heard, Tate is sadly on his way out. Boo Hoo! Someone get me the Kleenex to dry my tears. Those would be TEARS OF JOY! Nothing against the actor who has been let go, but hey Tate, don’t let the door hit you in the butt!

I thought Bo and Matthew were so cute together when they were at Lindsay’s gallery for the art show they set up to trap the hate group. Matthew was adorable when he told Bo that his little girlfriend Emily said she thought it was sexy that he was setting up a photo shoot and asked Bo, “Did a girl every say something like that to you?” I love it when Matthew comes out with these things and Bo doesn’t immediately know how to answer him. This time it was pretty funny when Bo said, “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”

We can see the rivalry setting up between Nora and Lindsay. It has been announced that Alexandra Neil is leaving the show, so we will be losing Paige (I’m sorry to say) and perhaps she is even Spencer’s real killer. Anyway, Nora and Lindsay never fail to make me laugh when they run into each other and have nothing to say but, “Nora”, “Lindsay”. They greet each other as if they’d like to tear each other’s eyes out on sight. I hear that Bo is going to get closer to Lindsay. I’ll say the same thing I say about Viki and Clint. Been there, done that. I wonder if Lindsay has become any better at scheming over the years. We’ll see.

So, Starr goes to the prom with Markko and doesn’t even realize that Langston is upset and jealous, but even Langston probably wouldn’t admit that she’s jealous yet. And Brittany, the poor girl, has to pick from five dresses to go with her $300.00 shoes. The prom.

Speaking of the prom, I never thought I’d say this, but I am enjoying the whole musical prom thing. The kids are talented, the music is good and I think it was done very well. The musical numbers are very good, especially Starr’s where she sang that solo in the gym and brought tears to my eyes. I loved Marcie’s line when she asked Starr, “Wouldn’t it be nice if life were like a musical, where everything worked out exactly the way it was supposed to?” I also loved Blair’s number when she sang to Starr as we got to see all those great photos of Starr as she grew up. That one brought on a full-blown cry. It’s amazing that we actually watched her grow up through all those years. Those scenes with Blair and Starr were very beautiful, especially when Blair gave her the watch that Todd gave her on their first Mother’s Day and told Starr how this was a day that Todd feared most, but how proud he would be of her today. I also thought it was a nice touch that Marty also gave Cole a watch, the one she gave Patrick.

And I had the biggest laugh when Starr needed a dress for the prom. Have you ever heard of any family who could even think they’d find a prom dress already in one of their closets? I think Blair and Dorian had more fancy dresses to choose from than Nordstrom’s and Saks put together, but the dress Dorian got for Starr was beautiful and she looked gorgeous. Starr said it all when she looked at the array of dresses Blair and Dorian pulled out and said, “Boy, Kramers never throw anything out, do they?”

I did want to slap Blair when she went to see Miles. I know she’s always used her body to get what she wants, but you’d think that after all the horrible things she went through with Spencer, culminating with losing her baby, she’d learn that using her body just isn’t the way to get what she wants. I couldn’t believe she came on to Miles the way she did and I knew all along that he wasn’t buying it. How dumb can she be? He behaved in a disgusting manner and his behavior only matched Blair’s. Honestly, Blair makes a better hooker than Jordan, the real hooker.
