Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for June 11, 2007From Jill Berry REFLECTIONS BY JILL for June 11, 2007Okay, Im sure that all the people who hate Nash will bombard me with e-mails about how horrible I am for saying this, but hey, I have to call them as I see them and I thought the scenes where Michael talked Nash through stitching up Antonio were so hysterically funny that I replayed them just so I could have more laughs. Maybe you really have to like Nash to appreciate those scenes, or maybe you just have to love sarcastic humor like I do, but to me nothing was funnier than Michael trying to give Nash instructions on sewing up Antonio and Nash saying, Not only am I not a doctor, but have I ever told you that when a lose a button I throw out the shirt? I dont think Im the guy for this job. And I laughed even harder when Michael was instructing Nash how to make sure Antonio was truly under the anesthesia and he said to Nash, We dont want him waking up in the middle of this thing and Nash dryly replied, Yeah, that would be unpleasant for him. You had to appreciate the fact that Nash, the poor guy, was in a ridiculous situation, was scared out of his wits and was still able to get through the procedure. On top of all the emotion surrounding the day, with Jessicas life on the line, if I were Nash Id be wondering what form of torture the Vega family would use to end his life if he killed Antonio. Nash was a hero. He could have passed out from fear alone and been useless to Antonio.
I also think Michael should have stood across the room when he told Antonio that Nash saved his life by stitching him up, because Antonio was anything but grateful to Nash and looked like he could have thrown his bed across the room in anger. You just knew that when he said he wanted to see Nash that it wasnt to offer his eternal thanks for saving his life. Antonio sure didnt pull any punches when Nash walked in and asked how he was doing and he said, I suppose youre waiting for me to thank you. I hope the two of you rot in Hell. I guess Nash wasnt surprised at that reaction and he was smart to just excuse himself and leave Antonio to his anger. Hey, if I were Antonio, I wouldnt be comfortable knowing that the one man I hated most and who took almost everything from me had saved my life. And after that horror show in the operating room, it was no surprise that Antonio wouldnt come through it unscathed. It figures that hed develop a serious complication. Things couldnt go that smoothly after what happened in the operating room. Adding even more humor to the situation were John and Michael. I know that this explosion was a serious thing and Ill get to that later, but these guys are a riot and their one-liners knock me right off my couch, like when John finally broke through the wall into the operating room and was leading the way down to Nash and Antonio. It was a riot when Michael hesitated John said, Would you like me to carry you down there, princess? There is never a time when John and Michael get together that I dont enjoy the banter. The bottom line for me is that Nash and Jessica are together. I know just as many people hate the idea as love it, but Im going to enjoy it for as long as it lasts. And in the world of soaps, we all know that can be five minutes or five years. Im hoping for years. Lets see what I actually get. Now, on to the culprit who caused this horrible situation and that, of course, would be Tate. Ill bet he was just dying to find a quiet place to hide and curse his head off over the fact that he didnt kill anyone in that explosion, especially Jessica and Antonio. That little weasel has an answer for everything and he sure was thinking on his feet when Adriana mentioned that she saw him coming from inside the hospital. Adriana is buying into ever lie that comes out of Tates mouth and she couldnt help but fall into his arms to thank him for being so concerned about her and Carlotta. She needs a reality check. Tate reminded me of those sick murderers who shows up at the funerals of the people they killed just to gloat over their handiwork. Thank goodness that Rex is hot on the trail of Tate and his father and that Bo and John are not running around in the dark this time. I never thought Id say this, but I think that if Miles stays around for any length of time, Im going to despise him as much as I did Spencer. Actually, that time is very near. He and Spencer have that one thing in common that makes me want to scream every time their faces are on camera and that is that happy, nasty little smirk that says, Hey, Im screwing you over and ruining your entire life while I look like a pretty boy nice guy. The smugness is something that makes my stomach turn and Miles has it in spades, just like Spencer did. The best line of the week was when Miles told Marty that he would die for her and she said, I wish you would, right now. Now theres something Marty and I agree on. For once, wouldnt you like to see someone on a soap opera look the person who is blackmailing them in the eye and say, Hey, give it your best shot. Im not biting. Id pay money to see that just once and I think it is ridiculous that Marty has let herself be taken in so easily. Sure, Miles threatened her with the loss of her son so many times and in so many ways that I was yelling at her myself to send him on his way the way Spencer met his maker. However, knowing that people are already suspicious of him (especially John), she shouldnt have been worried that Miles would hurt John or Cole. I guess its too much to ask for a smart independent woman to behave that way for once. And considering the fact that everyone wanted Spencer dead, she should also have figured that there could be a way for her to confess and not go to jail. But hey, this is a soap and once again the poor little victim suffers at the hands of the big, disgusting bully. I am only grateful that their sham of a wedding took place off camera and we didnt have to endure watching the ceremony. And by the way, who said that Marty really is Spencers murderer?
