FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS
Rhonda writes: Aside from not liking the One Pure People storyline at all, why would Tate be so smitten with Adriana, since she is part Santi, and therefore not "pure"? After all, Antonio and Christian, her relatives, have been Tate's targets, too.
Dear Rhonda: I wondered the same thing about Tates attraction to Adriana since she definitely is not what he would consider pure and I wrote about it last week. It seems like Tate is targeting everyone and anyone who has any racial or ethnic background that he doesnt consider pure, so it doesnt fit that hed fall for someone like Adriana. Maybe the writers just got it wrong on this one. Could it be that Tate doesnt know Adrianas background? But it does seem like he did his research since he knows about everyone else, including the fact that Nora is Jewish and there is really no obvious way for him to know that.
Joe writes: I've watched One Life since the Niki/Viki and Vinnie/Joe days. Viki came out for Joe as Jessica did for Antonio. I'm in the minority, but I dislike what the writers have done with Jessica and Antonio. Frankly, it sucks. No one is happy anywhere in Llanview and this was a promising couple. I predicted that Antonio was the only match. Jessica's character is selfish, as is Nash's. She devastated Jamie-but that's okay-for true love. NOT! That's not love-love is good, not selfish, that is lust and selfishness despite who it hurts. Reflects today's values-everyone else be damned! (I'll be surprised to see this one in print.)
Dear Joe: Well, SURPRISE TO YOU! I dont know why youd be surprised to see your e-mail in print. I print all opinions every week, especially if they dont agree with mine. The fun for me is in the give and take of opinions and hey, a little scuffle every now and then never hurts and keeps things interesting, especially when the show is disappointing. Sure, Antonio got the short end of the stick. I dont believe that Jessica is being selfish and I dont agree that Jessica and Nashs story is not a love story. To me its the only real one weve seen in a very long time. I have stated several times that the most awful part of this situation is that Jamie is a victim and everyone will have to deal with that. You may be in the minority and maybe not. Lots and lots of people have written to me and feel the same way you do about Jessica and Nash. But hey, thats what makes the world go around. I think they have a great romance and I hope I get to enjoy it for a long time, as do many of their fans.
Alison writes: I have to say that it seems as though the producers, writers and Kamar de Los Reyes could have timed his absence so much better. It was hard to believe that when they finally had the big reveal to Antonio about Jessica's love for Nash, and then Antonio and Nash's confrontation, they chose to do it all when Kamar de los Reyes wasn't there! If they managed to rewrite the gun story with the teens in such a short time, I think they could have figured out a way to have Kamar be there for those scenes. And from what I understand, this was elective, though needed, surgery. Couldn't the producers have asked him to do it at a different time? I think it was really cheating the audience. On the other hand, I thought the actor who took over for Kamar was a very good actor and did a great job with the powerful scenes. But I think the powers-that-be were unbelievably 'off' on their timing!
Dear Alison: I agree that the timing was bad but I have no idea if it could have been helped. I was under the impression that Kamars surgery was very necessary so I dont know if there was time to rewrite such a major storyline. I do feel that Jessicas confession didnt pack the same punch it would have had if we could have seen Kamar handling it, but youre right, at least they found an actor who could portray Antonios feelings and anger and at least Kamar is back to take on the rest of the fallout.
Mary writes: I just wish they'd get the old macho Clint back. Why do they have this dweeb with zero sex appeal trying to make us believe Viki is the slightest bit attracted to him? Let Dorian have him; it what she deserves. But I would like the old Clint back.
Dear Mary: Gee, how do I put this nicely? Yuck!!! Sorry, I cant agree with you about Clint (past or present) and I cant remember how many years ago it was that the old Clint was macho. Somehow, I only remember him being overbearing and bossy. At least thats how I remember him behaving the last time he was in Llanview. I do agree that no matter who is playing Clint these days (and I have nothing against Jerry ver Dorn) there is no way that I will ever believe that Viki would be truly attracted to him and want a third go round. It makes much more sense the way they have been writing the storyline and that is that Viki only has her back up because she has such a rivalry with Dorian and doesnt really have romantic feelings for Clint. Yep, Dorian can have him and keep him. Im with you on that score.
