REFLECTIONS BY JILL for May 29, 2007

And in the “haven’t we seen this before” category, don’t read this if you don’t want to know who the match is for donating part of their liver to Jessica. Okay, so as usual I was wrong in guessing that it would be Dorian. I did think that would make for a good storyline, but the truth is even more ridiculous. That’s right; Antonio is going to be the match for Jessica. Gee, let me think about this. It rings a little bell somewhere. Oh yes, now I remember. Antonio conveniently being a match for Jessica is almost as ridiculous as Ben being a perfect match to donate his heart to Viki and dying at just the right moment so she could benefit from it. And just so I don’t disappoint those fans that think my obsession with Ben borders on insane, I still don’t think the guy is dead and Viki has his heart.

And you have to laugh at Dorian. That old girl sure knows how to take advantage of a situation, even when it borders on death. She found a perfect way to impress old Clint when she planted herself in the hospital and was ushering people along to get their blood tested to be possible donors for Jessica. I love when she approaches people with her hand out and says, “Hello, I’m Dr. Dorian Lord.” Is this a drive to get possible donors for a liver transplant or a receiving line at a wedding? She really laid it on for Tate and his father. Now she’ll be on the warpath to cozy up to Tate because she thinks he’s so much better a mate for her precious Adriana than Rex is.

And let me just say this. I can’t wait for the day that Jessica is well and she and Nash can be together to give us some nice love scenes. We are in serious trouble if the only romance we have to watch is Dorian and Clint in bed, especially when Clint utters such inane lines as, “Thanks, I needed that.” Ewwwww!

And we have to talk about Tate and his father. Well, obviously that old cliché is a cliché for a reason. The apple sure doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it? Tate’s father is a jerk and we can see where Tate gets some of his attitude. I guess his father was laying it on a bit thick to make Tate look good because he knows that his son is a creep who has been terrorizing Llanview. And Tate’s father is supposedly going to take the rap for him so that Tate can continue his reign of terror. I can’t wait until all the people he’s hurt, plus all the people who love Evangeline, find out that he’s the culprit.

Well, it only took Rex about five minutes to break his promise to Adriana about leaving Tate alone. Good for you, Rex! When this is all over and the truth about Tate comes out, Adriana won’t be able to apologize enough to him and by that time, maybe too much damage will have been done to their relationship. And here’s a question. Why is Tate so hung up on Adriana? If he’s so determined to wipe out anyone who isn’t “pure” then why is he so crazy about a girl who is of mixed heritage? Adriana is a Santi and was raised by the Colon family in Puerto Rico. Antonio is her half brother and Cristian is her cousin. What’s up with that?

And just how far is Miles going to sink into insanity before someone stops him? I think people have underestimated how seriously demented he probably is from spending his whole life being rejected by everyone in his life but Spencer Truman. And now he’s taking life lessons from a hooker who convinces him that the way to a woman’s heart is to rescue her. Boy, talk about a literal interpretation. Now we know just how twisted Miles can be and I hear that this is just the beginning of his insanity. I didn’t even see it coming when Marty was accosted by those three guys, that Miles was behind the whole thing. I just thought he was upset about John hauling him down to the police station because he had siphoned Marty’s gas from her car and wanted to be there to give her a lift and rescue her that way. I didn’t dream that he’d do something so terrible, but I guess I should have figured something was not right when Marty was able to fight off three men and not even get a scratch on her. Thank goodness John has his eye on Miles and doesn’t trust him as far as he can throw him.

And just to take a minute with the youngsters on the show, I have to again marvel at how grown up Starr is and how she handles things with such maturity. She was the one who stood up when everyone was bashing Brittany and just wanted peace and to put everything in the past. She knows what it’s like to be the object of peoples’ criticism and most of that is thanks to Brittany, but she has the class to refuse to participate in the bashing. And who could blame her for being mad at Cole for defending Brittany and dating her. Sure, Starr did push him away but it was for his own good. I had hoped he would be mature enough to realize that and not flaunt his new friendship with Brittany in Starr’s face, but I guess not. If we have to watch this crowd of young people over the summer (and I know there are lots of young viewers so I respect that), then I hope we get to see a good storyline involving Langston. Like Kristen Alderson, her portrayer is a good young actress and I think she could handle a good storyline.
