REFLECTIONS BY JILL for April 28, 2008

Wow, Rex was finally stating to get the message that his beloved Adriana is probably less that the sweet little girl he always thought she was, but then his brain zoned out on him when he forced Gigi to get on the phone with her so she could tell her that things were peachy keen and that she really likes her. Sure, Adriana likes Gigi, like a convicted killer likes the electric chair. All it took was for Adriana to have a few glasses of wine at home and then some more at Capricorn and she sure let it all hang out when she was confronted with Gigi. You could tell just how nasty she was when Gigi got caught up in that melee between John and Cristian and got knocked against the wall and Rex ran to her rescue. I don’t think Adriana would have cared if Gigi had gotten her head knocked off. Adriana sure didn’t pull any punches when she badly insulted Gigi right in front of Rex, implying that Gigi was probably used to bar fights since she has been working in the “Wild West” in Paris, Texas. That should have been enough to show Rex what Adriana was made of but I don’t think he really wants to believe she’s as nasty as she is. Rex hasn’t let himself believe he feels anything but friendship for Gigi, but he’s going to have to face it very soon because he can’t keep pretending to be her buddy who is looking out for her when everyone around him sees it differently. Every time Adriana pulls him into bed his mind gets wiped clean (big surprise) and that’s exactly what she wants. I did read that Adriana was going to come to a fatal end and that her desire to destroy Gigi would be exactly what destroys her. It’s just too bad that Rex will have lost both women he loved (Jen and Adriana) in such a harsh way.

So Dorian and Layla are in Michigan doing Adriana’s dirty work and finally find Brody Lovett. I did think it was pretty funny when Dorian was talking to that officer at the bar thinking he was Brody and he was looking at her like she was crazy. No one is going to be more surprised than Gigi to find out that Brody is alive. I am anxious to see how this plays out, especially since we now know from Brody’s sister that his mother told Gigi he died overseas and she told Brody that Gigi ran off with another man. It’s too bad Brody’s mom is dead, she sounds like she’d be a good friend for Dorian since they are both master manipulators of their children. And now Adriana is on the scene and we find out that Brody knew that Gigi was pregnant before he went away. Wait until Rex finds out there is yet another man he has to deal with in Gigi’s life.

As for the bar fight, obviously John and Talia are working together to get to the bottom of Ramsey’s plans for Llanview and as usual, Cristian’s macho hot temper started trouble. I liked Cristian a whole lot better when he was a younger man. This character is very one-dimensional right now and I am tired of watching him act on impulse and have to apologize later. He belongs in jail for going after John, no matter what John was doing, and let’s not forget that he wound up hitting Eddie, the cop, in the process. Do you find Eddie to be a pain in the butt? He’s like that little tattletale kid in school you always wanted to punch. Maybe he’ll turn out to be someone important that we’ll even like, but for now, he’s just annoying.

I will admit that I had to applaud Cristian when Todd pulled Blair into that steam room for a little “recreation” and he was just sitting there enjoying a drink. I love it when anyone can get Todd’s goat and Cristian is very good at it, especially since he has slept with Blair and Todd hates that. Cristian really let Todd have it when Todd was taunting him about getting into that fight with John and he said, “Hey, at least I went after someone my own size. I hear you only beat up on kids. Everyone knows what you did to that Thornheart kid.” Go Cristian!

So, everyone turns up at Capricorn and of course trouble starts. Natalie heads over there with Miles so Jared asks Gigi out to make Natalie jealous and they wind up there, too. Rex is there with Adriana so he’s mad because Gigi is with Jared whom he doesn’t like or trust and Adriana can’t stand the fact that Rex can’t stand Jared dating Gigi. Have I confused you enough yet? Then we have Jessica showing up after the whole fight is over and for some ridiculous reason, she thinks she should be the one to bail Cristian out. We did finally come to find out from her conversation with Nash that the reason she feels compelled to help Cristian is that she always had a close relationship with the Vega family and she misses them so she feels maybe she can help them out. All she did was get in the way and annoy Sarah, whom she should have called when she first found out about Cris being in jail. Jessica is making it very hard for me to like her these days and I have always loved this character. The Vegas don’t want her money and her concern for them now is not going to be welcome.

Antonio sure didn’t mind too much that Cris was beating on John. What a guy! I thought it was pretty disgusting when Antonio and Talia were called into Ramsey’s office after the fight at Capricorn and Antonio just stood there calmly while Ramsey wondered out loud if he should change the fraternization rules around the station since Talia was working her way through all the men in the department. I think Antonio might finally be onto Ramsey because when he was talking to Jessica, she said that any decent man would have let Cristian go and he said, “Yes, any DECENT man would.”
