REFLECTIONS BY JILL for April 14, 2008

Wow, talk about mixed signals. Poor Charlie, there he was, sitting in the diner with Viki trying not to shrink into the wallpaper while everyone around him is talking about him proposing to her. I’d say that was about as awkward as you can get. Even Viki got caught up in the excitement there for a while but ever tactful in sticky situations, Viki quickly figured out that Charlie wasn’t about to propose to her and she diffused the situation. I would have been shocked if he had proposed at this point, because they don’t know each other nearly well enough to talk about marriage and also because I think Charlie is too good a person to go that far without Viki knowing the whole truth about him, secrets and all. Now, while I believe that Charlie is a good person, I am having trouble reconciling the way he’s behaving with Viki. He knows it is just a matter of time before the poop is going to hit the fan and Viki is going to know what he’s been hiding, yet he has basically decided to enjoy whatever happiness he and Viki have while it lasts, going so far as to move back in with her and share her bed, knowing that he is deceiving her every day while she continues to tell him what a good, honest person he is. This is not fair to Viki and I can’t condone the way Charlie is handling things when the cost to Viki is going to be so high. I don’t want to hear him telling her how wonderful she is and how she has made his life worth living while he’s living a big fat lie.

I was sorry that when Charlie woke up from that nightmare and told Viki about the death of his son Jimmy he didn’t tell her the whole truth. I have to give judos to Brian Kerwin for a great acting job. He’s very good at showing Charlie’s pain. He should open up to Viki. If anyone has learned about dealing with pain, it is Viki and it’s time that Jared was completely honest with everyone, too.

How long is Natalie going to be able to avoid getting involved with Jared? She got a whole new understanding of him when she met with Pamela and learned the truth about what Jared went though as a child and how his brother died. Natalie needed to hear from Pamela that Jared is really a good soul and that he wasn’t after becoming a Buchanan for the money. It’s hard to believe, but I believe it. I don’t blame Natalie for holding back because she was so hurt by Jared, but I don’t see her resisting him for much longer. The heat between these two is building and an explosion has to be near.

Let’s talk about Nash and Sarah. Are these two so inconsiderate or are they just stupid? I can understand that they are in Napa on business for Nash’s vineyard and I can even understand getting a bit tipsy at a wine tasting. I don’t even think it’s the worst thing in the world that they are sharing a suite with two bedrooms. However, I do take exception to the fact that they continued to get smashed on champagne and didn’t even consider calling home when Nash knew that Jessica was a bit upset that he so easily brushed her off and chose not to take her on the trip and Sarah could have guessed that Cristian would at least want to hear from her. You know me; I am always the first one to criticize Cristian when he behaves like the big, dumb macho man, but I don’t blame him for being upset when he calls Sarah’s room and finds her drunk, falling all over herself and whooping it up with Nash. I know Sarah didn’t think she was doing anything wrong, and she doesn’t have designs on Nash, but a little consideration for those sitting at home would have been nice. Let’s also not forget that many a mistake has been made on soaps in a drunken stupor that cannot easily be taken back. And I hated Nash’s attitude even more when Jessica called him earlier and even when he was totally sober he lied to her when she heard Sarah’s voice in the room and told her it was the television. Why lie? Jessica didn’t really have a reason to be upset before, but after that phone call and hearing from Cristian that they are sharing a suite and that Nash lied to her, she has a good reason to be upset now. I don’t want to regret really liking Nash but he’s really getting on my nerves.

So, what was I thinking? I figured Lindsay might be behind the sabotage going on at B.E. when all along I should have known better. Silly me; it’s Dorian. Who else could want revenge against a Buchanan more than Dorian? Obviously she has enough dirt on all of B.E.’s enemies without having to use Lindsay’s supply to destroy B.E. and Clint in the bargain. And Lindsay is such a dope that she trusts Dorian with the information that she is the one who has been helping Clint to thwart all the takeover attempts. If you could lock someone up for being dumb, I would have put Lindsay away for good after she confided in Dorian.

Obviously it didn’t take Todd’s sources long to find out what Clint is up to and shockingly, he gave Viki a heads up about the article he was going to print to expose what B.E. did to keep control of the company. Viki, being who she is, couldn’t believe that Clint would sink so low as to use personal nasty information to solve a business problem, but she sure got a shocker when he admitted that it was all true. Viki reminded Clint that Asa was a ruthless businessman but he’s not and Clint just blew her off and showed her the door. I wonder how long it’s going to take for Viki to realize who is behind all the trouble now that she has seen Dorian with one of Clint’s rivals, Calvin Jenkins. Come on Viki, put two and two together. I want to see Dorian sweat.
