REFLECTIONS BY JILL for April 1, 2008

Well, I guess the proverbial apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Can you remember far back enough to a time when Adriana was just a sweet young woman and we couldn’t believe that she actually came from the same gene pool as Dorian? Times have sure changed, haven’t they? Lord knows we can’t blame Adriana for being furious with Dorian for interfering in her life to keep her and Rex apart, but this time it sure didn’t take Adriana long to figure out a way to use Dorian’s desperation to her advantage.

By the way, I can’t remember how many times Adriana has disowned Dorian, can you? I guess this time she has learned enough to use a few of her mama’s tricks because this time she knows that Dorian believes that she has been evicted from her daughter’s life for good and will do anything to get back into Adriana’s good graces. She promised Dorian that if her wedding doesn’t happen, she is out of her life for good. I don’t think Dorian will have to do too much to separate Rex and Adriana because the seed has already been planted (namely Gigi) and it doesn’t seem like there is anything that will ease Adriana’s mind about Gigi being a threat to her happiness. Adriana will put Dorian up to finding out about Shane’s supposed father, Brody Lovett. Actually, Adriana will expect Dorian to be at her beck and call to do her dirty work. Adriana has good reason to be worried, especially since Rex has been paying so much attention to Gigi and her son, but like a lot of women whose first impulse is to blame the “other woman”, Adriana feels the need to try to intimidate and demean Gigi when she should be concentrating on why Rex can’t seem to separate himself from his old flame and her son. If Rex weren’t paying so much attention to them, their presence wouldn’t be such a thorn in Adriana’s side. Rex is denying his feelings right now and therein lies the problem.

Thank goodness Blair got Cole out of the house before Todd could find him, but she’s not happy about this turn of events. Obviously she couldn’t let Todd hurt Cole again, but her motives are very shaky if you ask me. I still feel that Blair wants to keep her family together at any cost and loving Todd is costing her family a lot of heartache right now. John called Blair on her motives right away and I loved that. Blair called John to try to get him to help keep Cole away from Starr because she is afraid of what Todd will do, but John saw right through her when he said, “This isn’t about Cole and Starr; this is about you and Todd.” And there was Blair telling John that she wasn’t going to crucify Todd because he’s her husband and she loves him. What a fool. John hit the nail on the head when he told her that she was terrified of Todd. Of course she denies that. Blair knows what kind of tyrant Todd can be and how unstable he is but she chooses to ignore it. How about his reaction when she told him she bought Capricorn from Antonio? His reaction was, “Get rid of it.” Nice guy. I always gave Blair credit for being so much smarter than this and for being the better parent in that family. She says her kids come first but keeping Todd around is definitely not in their best interest.

And as usual, Addie comes through as the voice of reason when she asks Todd very plainly why he’s trying to destroy everything that he loves. Instead of sitting down and listening to Addie, or at least having a decent respectful conversation with her, he berates and insults her. Sure, once he thought about what she said he figured he was being a lunatic but we all know how long his remorse will last. And now that Starr obviously thinks she could be pregnant, I’m sure a whole new set of misery is on the way.

I’m getting really tired of Antonio these days. When is he going to be done moping around? And why is he so afraid of losing his job that he doesn’t see that what Talia says is true, that Ramsey is using him. Ramsey sits in his office playing around with everyone’s lives and Antonio is the perfect puppet because he feels vulnerable. Ramsey partnered Talia with John and he’s very happy to sit back and watch the fireworks when it causes problems between Antonio and Talia. Talia and John work very well together, even though John is not used to having a partner and Antonio is getting all bent out of shape because John and Talia get along so well. He’s also angry that they are trying to go after Ramsey with whatever they can come up with and he is letting himself believe that Ramsey is a decent guy. Did Antonio’s brain go out the window with all his money? He was way out of line when Talia confronted him about his mood and about him refusing to see that Ramsey was trouble. He deserved that big slap in the face she gave him when she talked about John wanted to nail Ramsey and Antonio said, “To me it looks like John is trying to nail someone else.” That was a disgusting thing to say. Honestly, there is a lot more chemistry between Talia and John than between Talia and Antonio. Who wants to see a good, decent woman with a moody sad sack like Antonio? Talia deserves much better. Lately, he’s way too much work. I was applauding when Antonio went after John for what he considered “moving in on her” and John let him have it right back and told him he was the one who was hurting Talia.

And of course Ramsey had to dig the knife into John by calling him into the office and saying, “You better keep things profession with Talia. You hooked up with Caitlin and Marty and they’re both dead.” I think John deserves a medal of honor for not pulling out his gun and just shooting Ramsey on the spot. I miss Commissioner Bo.
