REFLECTIONS BY JILL for March 26, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Okay, now we head to the high school playground, because that’s where Viki, Dorian and Clint have decided to conduct their very important lives these days. At first I thought Clint couldn’t get any more ridiculous when he showed up at Llanfair just to tell Viki he had a date with Dorian. Obviously, he wanted to get a rise out of her and wanted her to be jealous. It was a juvenile thing for him to do. And even though Viki was jealous (as I sit shaking my head), she wasn’t going to let him see it. But Clint insisted that she was jealous and wanted to know if she was jealous because he’s seeing other women, or because it’s Dorian. That’s a good question. I did have to laugh when Clint got the call from Dorian saying she was at the police station and Viki said, “You better hurry down there before Dorian decides to go after Bo.”

I always enjoy Viki having girlfriend time with Renee or Nora and I did think Nora was right when she told Viki that if she really wanted Clint she should go after him (maybe not in such a ridiculous way, though), but I have to say (and I never dreamed I would ever say this about her) that I was totally embarrassed, mortified and humiliated for Viki when she got up the nerve to show up at The Palace and crashed Dorian and Clint’s date. If there was ever ANYTHING that Viki would NEVER do, that was it. I still can’t even believe it. I was cringing when Viki just stood there like a desperate woman spitting out all that stuff about how she wanted to have an exclusive relationship with him and that she didn’t want him to see other people, especially someone like Dorian because she wasn’t the kind of woman he should see. If Viki had such an epiphany, she could have spoken to Clint privately at home or anywhere else. Oh, and let’s not forget “Clint the Player” making sure that he told Dorian on their date that he needed to call Viki. His behavior is a joke. And to top it off, when Viki finally gets him alone at the hospital and they talk about her wanting him exclusively, he leaves her standing there like a fool and takes Dorian home without a word. Why does either of these women want him? Maybe the writer who put this stuff in the script was suffering from a concussion or something that affected his thought pattern because I’ve never seen anything more out of character on the show than Viki humiliating herself like that for a man she has divorced twice and who has been playing games with her and all IN FRONT OF DORIAN! I can’t imagine that even the fans that want Viki and Clint together could have enjoyed that scene, even if they think it’s worth whatever happens along the way for Clint and Viki to be together. Viki is so above that kind of nonsense. And can I just say that Clint and his women could take a lesson from Starr and Cole on how to have a mature relationship? How sick is that? Ick, now I need a shower.

I saved the best for last. I don’t know about you, but I found the scenes between Jessica and Nash totally riveting and so powerful. I don’t blame Nash for the way he has chosen to survive in this impossible situation. From the minute he met Tess his life has been a roller coaster of emotions and from the minute he found out about Jessica’s DID, his life has been destroyed. He lost the love of his life. He has to watch another man raise his daughter with the woman he loves and what makes it horribly worse is the fact that Jessica is admittedly in love with him and she has tied his hands. I do nothing but feel bad for Nash and him showing up at Jess and Antonio’s place to quit his job was the right thing to do. At this point, when Jessica has made the decision to stay with Antonio, Nash is doing what he needs to do to survive. It doesn’t help that Jessica can’t stay away from him and even though she feels obligated to stay with Antonio, she can’t stand the thought of not being with Nash and she doesn’t deny it when he says it to her face. This situation is terrible and I wasn’t at all surprised when Nash took a hard stance with Jessica and told her he had to ban her from his life or he wouldn’t survive. His outburst and breakdown were a long time coming and he makes you feel his pain. I felt terrible when he told her his rules and said that from now on the baby would be “Brennan” and that it hurts and disrespects him when they call her Bree. Unrequited love is one thing, but knowing that Jessica loves him makes it so much worse for him to be without her. After all, Jessica at least has a life with Antonio and the two girls. Nash doesn’t have anyone to call his own. I commend Forbes March on the wonderful job he’s doing. Nash is always an up front guy; he is never afraid to show his feelings and I love that about him. It’s not often we see a character whose feelings are an open book and it’s great to see. We never have to wonder what Nash is really thinking or feeling. He has taken all he can take of being around Jessica and his daughter and not having them.

And Jessica is in great pain, too. There is a big part of her that has always done “the right thing” and it’s so hard for her to hurt anyone. She is caught in a terrible situation and it does kill her to see Nash hurt. I hope this mess is resolved soon and I hope that Antonio’s relationship with Talia turns into something that lessens the blow for him because I can’t see Jessica staying with him for the long haul.

See ya next week.
