REFLECTIONS BY JILL for March 12, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Isn’t it wonderful having David back? And he certainly hasn’t lost his sense of humor. He as enjoying himself, living the life he felt he always deserved, lying on a beach sipping umbrella drinks. Too bad John had to come along and ruin it for him. I loved seeing the sweet side of David, the side that still loves that battle ax Dorian, when all of John’s attempts to get David back to Llanview failed until he showed him the picture of Dorian behind bars and David immediately knew he had to go back. I sure do miss the old David/Dorian romance days. David was at his best and Dorian was tolerable back then. And wasn’t it just like David when John wanted to leave for the airport right away and David asked if he could finish his pina colada since he’s pretty sure they don’t make them at Statesville?

And surprises abound. I don’t like to read too many spoilers, so I had no idea and was totally shocked when Asa showed up at the jail to see David and it was revealed that he promised David $10.5 million for killing Spencer. The bigger shock to me was Asa’s conversation later on with Nigel where Nigel asked him why he was dealing with David and Asa said it was a test, prompting Nigel to answer, “A test to see if he has what it takes to be a Buchanan?” I don’t know how long Tuc Watkins is going to stay around, but I hope we get a nice run out of Asa and David dealing with the fact that they are father and son. I’m also curious to see how Asa treats David, since he was so hateful to Ben when he found out he was his son, just because Ben was a “Rappadavidson.”

So we know that David didn’t really kill Spencer. I’m sick of wondering who did it, aren’t you?

And how about Asa’s little dig at Blair when they talked about Spencer almost killing Blair and Asa told David he kind of wished he’d let Spencer finish the job. Shame on you Asa!

I hope all the Todd/Evangeline fans are enjoying this fiasco they are calling a relationship these days. I hope someone is enjoying it because I find it totally ridiculous. Todd is acting like a lovesick little boy one minute when he’s with Evangeline and the next minute he sees Blair and sticking it to her is all that matters to him. And maybe Evangeline really does have feelings for Todd, but if she does, I don’t see what they have in common since they are both hung up on other people; and if she does indeed have feelings for Todd, then she should stop trying to convince herself and everyone she is in love with Cristian and is distraught over it.

It’s out of character for Evangeline to behave the way she is behaving. Yes, it’s her birthday. Yes, that gift Todd sent her was totally off the wall and totally inappropriate. But let’s face it; Todd is inappropriate most of the time so I was not surprised that he did something like that when he keeps telling her that he is just a grateful friend who wants to make her smile. Give me a break! But I have to tell you that the most inappropriate thing was that Evangeline didn’t just send back the gift, or even take it back to him in a way that would make her point. She waltzed into the most expensive restaurant in town, in front of people she should have figured she’d run into, wearing the necklace. Then she walks right up to him wearing the necklace (which was only fit to wear with a ball gown, by the way) and tells him she can’t accept it. How stupid was that? Why didn’t she just bring the necklace back in the box, hand it to him and set him straight? She’s becoming as ridiculous as Todd and she has come so far from the woman she used to be that I have to ask the writers what the heck they are doing.

How about Starr walking in on Todd and Evangeline as they were about to kiss. Why do people always say, “This isn’t what it looks like.” That is the lamest thing to say when you get caught in someone’s arms in a bathrobe and why would Evangeline think someone as smart as Starr would believe that?

And here’s an interesting development. Cute little annoying Miles seems to be a virgin. I guess we should have figured that out from the life he’s lived all this time, but when he got sloshed at the bar with Marty and they locked lips when she tried to get his drunken body to the couch, finding out that was his first kiss opened up all kinds of possibilities. Maybe watching Miles’ life unfold will be more interesting that I thought.

And Natalie. Oh Natalie, I don’t know where to begin this week. I shouldn’t have to work so hard to defend her these days. I think the writers really need to ease up on making her such a pain in the butt. It’s getting tiresome. I understand that she was upset that John left town and she didn’t know what was going on, but he did say it was related to work and she should have just accepted that. Instead, she barged in on Marty and boy, I hate when she shows all her cards to anyone who will listen. I don’t have much good to say about Marty, and seeing Natalie’s emotional state she could have gone easier on her, but I can’t really blame Marty when Natalie so aggressively accused her of coming between her and John and she told her that she wasn’t the problem between them and that they had no communication skills and that Natalie was just paranoid.
