REFLECTIONS BY JILL for February 27, 2007

From

The next time awards are given out, I want a big one to go to little Eddie Alderson. That young man’s portrayal of Matthew last week just broke my heart. Poor little Matthew, trying to be a big man and deal with his home burning down, losing everything he owned and almost losing his own life and his mom. It’s so obvious that he’s going to grow up to be such a good man like his father. He made me cry over and over when he talked about losing everything and told Bo that he felt worst about losing the videos that Jen had made for him because he couldn’t replace those. I remember how sad Matthew was when Jen was killed. Bo tried to make him feel better by telling him that he’d do his best to replace the photos with the help of Lindsay and Will, but that kid was just devastated. I think he has the biggest heart in Llanview. When that fireman brought in one little box that was all they could salvage from the fire, it brought me to tears when Bo told him they could look in the box later and Matthew said he wanted to do it right away before Nora got there in case there was anything in the box that would make her sad. Nothing gets to me more than a person with a compassionate soul and I just adore Matthew.

Well, I guess the theme for last week was cheating partners. It was pretty funny and very ridiculous when Roxy tried to convince Marcie that Michael was cheating on her, but we had enough of the real thing to deal with without worrying about Michael cheating.

Let’s start with Jessica. I’m sure she’d rather have needles stuck in her eyes than have Cristian know that she and Nash were “this close” to sleeping together. Can you imagine what Cristian’s reaction would have been if he knew that it nearly happened on his brother, Antonio’s bed? I don’t think Cristian’s head would have remained attached to his neck if he had heard that juicy little tidbit.

I remain very torn on this subject because I so seriously detest cheaters, but I so believe that Jessica and Nash belong together. Nash was just plain stupid to confide anything in Layla. I don’t blame Jessica for that slap she gave him. Not that Layla would betray Nash’s confidence, but he shouldn’t have uttered a word about what happened to anyone at all. I’m sure Nash wasn’t thinking about the consequences of anyone finding out what happened when he admitted it to Layla. She was trying to be a good friend to him and let’s face it; Nash doesn’t have a soul besides Layla that he can really confide in as a friend when it comes to his feelings about Jessica. But Cristian finding out; that was a big OUCH! And now Nash and Jessica are locked in the storeroom. How convenient is that? They are going to profess their love for each other and Antonio is going to be seriously injured saving Nash from the fire. How much worse can this get?

And let’s talk about Cristian for a minute. I don’t blame him for being upset because he feels that his beloved brother has been betrayed, but I think he was a bit over the top with the self-righteous act. He went after Jessica with both barrels and as usual, he let his hot head react first and listens later. He had no right barging in on Jessica and Miles. He wouldn’t give Jessica an inch, even when she tried to explain the way things are. He made her feel so bad that she called him back begging him again to understand and not tell Antonio what he found out and he didn’t need to be so harsh with her. It should have been enough when she explained how much trouble she was having dealing with her Tess feelings, but Cristian didn’t really ease up at all. He needs to back off. He let Jessica know that he won’t tolerate his brother being hurt and he needs to stay out of it for now. I don’t blame him for wanting to protect his brother, but his reaction bordered on cruel.

And how interesting that Cristian goes home and finds out that he is also a victim of what he calls cheating. Hey, I call it cheating, too, but I have to give Evangeline credit for coming clean with him right away. Well, he didn’t think the next morning was “right away” enough, did he? And let’s get serious here for a minute. Evangeline was just plain stupid in my book for going to Todd in the first place. Cristian is correct in saying that Todd has been manipulating her for a long time. And he didn’t make too big a deal when she wanted to go and console Todd because he knows she’s a good and caring friend. BUT Todd reeled her in and although I know he was totally devastated when Rex gave him the baby’s death certificate, Evangeline should have been the one to keep her head and she didn’t. I don’t know why she let him kiss her and why she kissed him back. If she has real feelings for Todd I sure didn’t think so before this and it still looks to me like she knew how much he was hurting and didn’t want to turn him away. Whatever the reason, it was a stupid thing to do. And after her big blow up with Cristian, why, oh why did she let Todd into her apartment. For a smart woman who claims she’s in love with her man, she sure wasn’t thinking about saving her relationship with Cristian when she let Todd manipulate her once more. She should have kicked him out when he started badmouthing Cristian, but no, instead she wound up all over him and Cris will find him there undressed. Evangeline’s behavior just keeps getting dumber and dumber. I couldn’t believe she said to Todd, “You’re obnoxious and I find it charming.” The one thing that did make me cringe was when Cristian reminded Evangeline that they had made love the night before and he asked he if she wanted him or if she was just working off the “head of steam” she built up being with Todd. That was an icky thing to say, even in anger. Cristian can be a cruel one, don’t ya think? And then Cris goes and gets half drunk and kisses Blair. Yeah, that’s the mature, manly thing to do, Cris.
