REFLECTIONS BY JILL for February 18, 2008

I know Alison is going to get pretty horrible, but for right now, I am getting a kick out of her. She’s so deranged that she’s funny. She hasn’t bothered me the same way Margaret did and it’s hysterical seeing the world through her eyes, like when she walked into Victor Lord’s mausoleum with Jessica and Natalie and looked around in awe exclaiming, “Isn’t it nice in here?” I can’t think of too many places I’d hate being in more, but Alison thought it was a pretty cool place. And I love the way she keeps referring to Ben as hers, like when she reminded Jessica and Natalie, “Your mother has MY Ben’s heart keeping her alive.” Maybe I would have taken Alison more seriously if she weren’t lying stretched out on Victor’s cold, cement crypt as if she were sunbathing in the Bahamas. I have no delusions. She’s going to get worse but for now, I’m still laughing.

What I really find annoying is that Jessica thought it was a good idea to break Alison out of St. Ann’s, that Natalie went along with it and that both of these women (who supposedly have at least one brain between them) figured they could corral Alison once they got her out of the institution. Sure, let’s reason with Alison and lock her in this spooky place until she comes to her senses and tells us her secret. Right! It didn’t take Alison thirty seconds to find the secret hiding place where Mitch left that gun and whatever else she found there and somehow break herself out. At least Jessica had the good sense to tell Nash the truth about her part in Alison’s escape. It’s obvious that he loves her a lot because he keeps forgiving her and accepting the messes she gets into.

Did anyone think it was strange for Nash to bring Bree to Foxy Roxy’s so that Roxy could watch her while he went to his meeting with Jared? I’m sure Roxy is great with kids (?), but at the very least she is easily distracted and she is running a business. And speaking of Bree, isn’t that little girl a bit too big to be carted around by all those tiny women on the show? She ruined every scene she was in by squirming, fussing and trying to get out of the arms of whoever was holding her. Maybe they should have the kid who plays Tommy/Sam give her some acting lessons. LOL! Of course it was pretty funny when she was squirming the most and making the most distasteful faces when she was trying to get out of Alison’s grasp. I thought the funniest line of the week was when Alison took Bree from Roxy’s arms when she needed a diaper change and said, “I’m good at changing babies.” Was that the pun of the year, or what? She sure is good at changing babies; switching them would be a better way to put it.

John sure pulled the wool over Todd’s eyes and I loved it. John had Todd convinced that if he didn’t help Marcie out he was sure to get arrested for being found with that rifle aimed at Gigi and Shane. Todd remained smug right to the end, or at least until John informed him that a witness can put Ramsey in his penthouse chowing down on take-out while he was in the building. That wiped the smug grin of Toddy’s face, didn’t it? I laughed my head off when Marcie was released on bail and Todd asked Bo to hold up his end of the bargain and let him go and Bo said, “I was never going to arrest you Manning.”

At least Todd came clean with Blair. Obviously he had no choice but to be honest with her about the fact that he and Ramsey held Gigi and her son hostage in Texas to get their hands on Marcie. Of course he first had to try to lighten his guilt by telling Blair he was blackmailed into helping Marcie. Yes, big bad John McBain blackmailed him. He didn’t really have a choice about telling the truth when Blair wondered how Marcie got out on bail. And as usual, Blair forgave him because, as she put it, “The old Todd would have lied his way out of trouble and the new Todd came right out and told her the truth.” Blair rewards Todd because he’s just bad instead of horrible right now. Maybe he should have thrown into his confession the fact that he threatened to kill Marcie and Michael or that Gigi’s son could have died from an asthma attack. But that wouldn’t have mattered to Blair. She would have rationalized a way to let him off the hook somehow.

It was a pretty sad homecoming for Marcie. She’s been away for four months. I wish this storyline had only lasted four months. It has been about eight months in real life. It was obvious how out of the loop she was when she walked into the apartment and couldn’t figure out what happened to all of Tommy’s things. I thought it was a good idea when Michael got rid of all the baby things so Marcie wouldn’t be reminded of him, but of course she expected to have the comfort of being around his things. I felt sad for her when Michael retrieved some of the boxes and they went though Tommy’s clothes and toys. That’s what people do when they lose a child that has died and Marcie has to live with that little boy living right across town but out of her reach. I also feel really sorry for Michael. He has lost so much and now has to fight to save his marriage.

Everyone is headed to The Go Red Ball. Well, we all know that there has never been a major function in Llanview that didn’t end with someone committing a heinous crime or something being blown up. Now that Jessica has unwisely shown up at the ball and is confronting Alison, someone is going to get hurt. I hear that Jared will save Jessica’s life. I guess that will work well for him.

And could Nora be any more obvious trying to get her hands on Lindsay’s confession? Honestly, I wish she would get her hands on it, but that’s not going to happen and Lindsay will find he with her hands literally in the cookie jar. Bad form, Nora! How embarrassing!
