REFLECTIONS BY JILL for February 17, 2007

Ok, I’m going to be a real girl here and say that I hope Miles turns out to be a good guy because he really is a cutie pie and I hate when the cute guys turn out to be villains. He seemed pretty “normal” when he showed up in Spencer’s suite while they were showing that lovely video of Spencer doling out all his gifts to his adoring fans, but something tells me that Miles is going to be an interesting person to watch. He obviously didn’t want to discuss Spencer with Jessica, so I wait anxiously to see just what he’ll do during his stay in Llanview.

It did make me cringe when Miles talked about what a wonderful guy Spencer was because he rebuilt his face when no one else could and he wants the killer to pay. Well, certainly Miles, we all know that when it comes to medicine, Spencer was the one doctor in the world who could fix anything and everything. I would hope that Miles would consider all the horrible things Spencer has done in Llanview before he tries to make the killer pay.

And doesn’t it just figure that Marty would take Miles on as a patient? I could have gagged when she reminded him that Spencer hurt so many people and ruined their lives and Miles told her that Spencer was only protecting himself and his heart. Did Spencer juggle this guy’s brain when he fixed his face?

Speaking of Jessica, WOW, she and Nash are really heating things up. Let me say up front that although I very much want Jessica and Nash to be together because I find their chemistry wonderful and I think the love story could be a great one, I am very uncomfortable with the idea of these two carrying on behind Antonio’s back. For whatever reason, Antonio has taken Nash under his wing and befriended him, treating him like a lifelong friend or even a brother and Antonio is definitely getting the shaft. You see, it’s just like I knew it would happen. They made Antonio a very likable person, made him a loving, patient husband and father, just in time to give him a knife in the heart. I HATE THAT! If there were ever a time for the “real” Antonio to rear his head, this would be the time. Suspicion should be making him crazy at this point and he continues to take everything in his stride. It’s very unrealistic for the character we’ve always known Antonio to be.

And I really do like Nash so much. He’s an adorable guy and really just a nice man who is not afraid to show his feelings. What’s not to like. When he looks at Jessica and tells her that he knows and respects that she’s married to Antonio but he just can’t stop thinking about her all the time, I can’t help wanting him to have her for his own. There was no plainer expression of feelings than when he told her that it’s not Tess that he wants back because if Tess came back he’d miss her. When she said she’d miss him, too, and then they kissed, it felt very right to me for them to come together. BUT, the fact that they got so lost in each other that they were becoming intimate in the home Jessica shares with Antonio was really bad form. Honestly, it wouldn’t be right anywhere and I just don’t condone sneaking around, especially on someone who loves you like Antonio loves Jessica. So, that leaves me with a huge dilemma when it comes to this triangle. I’m a firm believer in coming clean with your partner before you take a cheating plunge with someone else, but this is the world of make believe and we know that Jessica and Antonio are going to have an affair. Hmmmm, such a dilemma when I want them to be together and think it’s really tacky for them to be rolling around on Antonio’s bed. I don’t want the writers to make it hard for me to cheer on Nash and Jessica. Honestly, it would make sense for Jessica to suffer a bit for having gone ahead with the marriage in the first place. It was the worst decision she ever made.

And since I don’t really care who killed Spencer (although I’d like to know who it is and buy them a bottle of Dom Perignon), I guess I’ll concentrate on the arsonist. Who the heck is it? Of course, I can’t figure it out. I try to figure out what the connections is between all the victims, Antonio, Cristian, Nora. Vincent’s lawyer would look good to me as the arsonist except for the fact that he wasn’t even on the scene yet an on the case when the first fire was set in one of Vincent’s buildings.

Nora is the District Attorney so any number of people could have it in for her. And isn’t it a good thing that Nora was completely over her coma and physically in good enough shape to get herself and Matthew out of that burning house? Wow, that fireman’s carry she used to haul Matthew out was a pretty big feat. He’s no little baby anymore.

What’s the story with Talia? Is she suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after being a cop in New York on 9/11? We could already see something happening between her and Antonio when she had a chance to catch the arsonist in that alley, didn’t apprehend him before he ran and didn’t even fire a warning shot. Will Antonio be sorry he covered for her with Bo now that the arsonist was able to get away and blow up Nora’s house? I will say that I do like what we’re getting to see of Talia’s personality. The things she said to Bo when she was trying to comfort him at the hospital were really beautiful. She said just the right things to make Bo feel better while he waited to see if Matthew would be okay.

How much longer is Michael going to be able to maintain his sanity while keeping the secret that Todd is Tommy’s father? He nearly attacked Marcie when he walked in the door and she was holding the “gift” from Spencer. I thought it was pretty unrealistic for Michael to tell her it was from him and have her believe it. Marcie is way too smart to just keep taking everything Michael says and does with his ridiculous explanations. When Michael told her he threw out the card I laughed because knowing Marcie, I could see her going to the trash to fish it out. After all, she did write a best selling murder mystery. She usually accepts nothing at face value. Imagine her reaction if she did see the card that said, “Happy Birthday Todd Manning, Jr.” Michael is crazy if he thinks his lame excuses will appease Marcie for very long.
