It seems like every week these days, another character I really like gets on my last nerve. This week the award goes to Blair. I understand that she has been through a lot and she has every right to take a step back and catch her breath, but the way she is going after Marty is starting to look pretty insane to me and I dont even like Marty.
Blair is obviously putting all the blame on Marty for her problems when she just doesnt want to look in her own backyard. Lets face it; there is nothing, not one bad thing that has happened in Blairs life in the past several years that hasnt been caused by Todd. The whole Margaret situation was caused by Todd cozying up to Margaret to get back at Kevin. That led to Spencer having a way to drive a wedge between Todd and Blair and ruin their lives. And if Todd hadnt come up with that stupid scheme to kidnap Spencer and torture him, they wouldnt have wound up on that roof and Blair wouldnt have lost her baby. Hey, its not always so easy for me to look back and so easily figure out how things happened, but in Todds case, its more than easy.
My problem with Blair is that she is so distraught over what has become of her life and she still loves Todd so much that she cant see straight enough at this point to take a step back and be rational. I am really tired of her lashing out at Marty and blaming her for Todd going to jail for raping her. The episode that Blair had with Todd a few years back may not have really been a rape, but Blair sure knows that Todd can be violent and she cant dispute what he did to Marty years ago; and its really bad form for her as a woman not to acknowledge that what happened to Marty is life-altering and she has a right to her feelings even after all these years. I wish Blair would get some help.
I can understand if Blair doesnt want to be with Todd right now. They do all need to take a step back, but in the process of pushing Todd away and lashing out at Marty, Blair is hurting her kids, too, especially Starr. Blair needs to face the truth and the real reason for the situation she is in. She and Todd lost their baby and that wouldnt have happened if Todds actions hadnt called Blair to that roof.
And speaking of Starr, whats the big deal about her seeing Cole? Yes, Cole did some very questionable things while he was using drugs, but he cant catch a break either. That high school should put a leash on Brittany instead of concentrating on Starr and Cole. Blair and Marty are being ridiculous when it comes to keeping their kids apart. Blair has given Todd 100 second chances and I guess Marty has no choice but to try to keep Cole away from Starr to avoid Blairs wrath. But Marty was way out of line when she told Cole that Starr is practically a juvenile delinquent. Hey Marty, whose kid was it that was caught pumping himself with drugs? Um, that would be yours!
Now we have Tate Harmon added to the canvas. He is supposed to be involved with Adriana down the line. I think its going to be interesting to see what Rexs turmoil does to his relationship with Adriana and how easy or difficult it will be for Tate to get in between them. I hope Tate turns out to be a good addition to the canvas and not just another pain in the butt for us to get through. Maybe he can help Cole, too.
So Cristian is out of jail because another fire was set while he was behind bars. It did look kind of suspicious that it was one of Antonios properties that burned down. After all, Antonio is now a millionaire." Whats a little piece of property lost here or there? But obviously, someone is after Cristian and now maybe Antonio also.
Do you think Vincents lawyer had something to do with those fires? He sure was like a dog with a bone when he kept pushing his opinion that it was too convenient that it was one of Antonios buildings that burned down when Cris was in jail. I dont care for Vincent, but I was cheering when he got so mad that he turned to his lawyer and said, JUST SHUT UP and then fired him. The lawyer claims not to be through with this case, so whats his story?
And how silly was it for Antonio and Evangeline to stand there in the police station and say they were quitting their jobs. Yes, Evangeline had every right to get angry at Nora for asking her to distance herself from Cristian while the investigation was going on, but I think she really likes the idea of working with Nora in the DAs office and it keeps her much more in the middle of all the action. And Antonio was just plain stupid for threatening to quit his job. I loved hearing Talia point out to him that a lot of the cops on the force have not been happy about the fact that Antonio has walked away more than once when things didnt go his way and now hes the big cheese and doesnt even need the money that his current job affords him. He was smart to shut up, pick up his badge and forget about quitting.
Obviously, something is going to stir up between Antonio and Talia. We can see it being set up and were learning more about Talia, like the fact that she was a cop in New York on 9/11.
I wasnt all that happy that Bo put John on the task force investigating Spencers murder. Poor John wanted to be the head guy on the case. I guess his ego is still as big as ever, but Bo was smart to refuse him that position. Hell be enough of a bulldog just being part of the team. And I liked the fact that Bo asked John if he was covering his own butt by wanting to be on the case. I guess John thinks he has nothing to hide so it was good that he admitted to Bo that he was at the hospital the night Spencer was killed. Natalie better tell John soon that she found threads from his scarf on Spencers body. They did promise to have no more secrets.
