Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for February 11, 2008

REFLECTIONS BY JILL for February 11, 2008

From Jill Berry, for About.com

I liked seeing John get the chance to spend a little bit of time with Sam. He misses his little nephew and was so happy to see him. We don’t get to see John smile like that very often and it was very decent of Blair to notice that John missed him and told him to tell Marcie that he is okay and that she promises to take good care of him and love him as if he were her own child.

I was wondering where Markko working at the diner would fit in and it was perfect that he delivered food to John’s house and told John about Todd’s “friend” that he just delivered food to at Todd’s penthouse. Too bad Ramsey was lying in wait for John. I don’t think that Ramsey’s reign of lunacy won’t last much longer, thankfully, and I can’t wait to get rid of him.

I guess Antonio and Talia are going to get to work together again now that Antonio has convinced Bo that Officer Fish would be better off in Cherryvale. It’s too bad that Bo had to remind Antonio that there would be no fraternization between officers on his police force. It will be interesting to see Antonio and Talia try to circumvent that rule.

I love that confession box that Lindsay had made for the Go Red Ball. I wish we could get to read each and every one of those confessions, especially Lindsay’s. Why would Lindsay even have the nerve to put a confession on paper? Oh yeah, she thinks it will soothe her soul to actually put it out there. Yeah, right! Nora is going to try to snatch Lindsay’s “get it off your chest” confession but will get caught by Lindsay. What a hoot!

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Brenda writes: “I was not a happy camper when Alison Perkins showed up on screen. After her first lines my immediate thought was, ‘What part of OLTL history are they going to rewrite this time?’ As for Todd, I'm a Todd fan but yes he is getting annoying. I noticed that when he was given Tommy/Sam by Marcie, that he held the child but there wasn't any real emotion. I feel for that poor kid living in that house. Todd and Blair may love their kids but they really suck as parents. Speaking of Todd and Blair, I can't stand them together. They're together, no they aren't, yes they are, and maybe they will be. Ugh. While I was happy to see Viki get a decent storyline, I hate that they are writing Charlie so dumb. He is being taken in by Dorian and he just seems to blindly believe everything she tells him. I liked him much better in Paris. For my final rant/whine/comment/question, why the heck can't SoapNet do a Ben and Blondie marathon? I would give anything to see them together again. I miss those days, and toss in the real Sam and I would be a very happy person. Give me my Rappadavidsons.”

Dear Brenda: I don’t blame you at all for wondering how the writers are going to recreate history now that Alison is back because they do it so often. Yep, Todd is annoying and yes it is hard to tell when he is showing emotion because he does it so seldom. He shows it to Blair and his kids in his own way, but then he’s off on another one of his troublemaking missions and the emotion goes out the window. I trust that Charlie won’t remain dumb for long now that Viki is around to straighten him out and keep an eye on Dorian. We’ll see. And Brenda, you are a woman after my own heart. I’d love to see SoapNet do a Ben and Blondie marathon. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had time to do it, but thank goodness for technology because every once in a while I pull out those old tapes and have myself a little reunion party with Ben and Viki, Sam and Nora, and Kevin and Grace. Hey, there are worse vices in this world, no?

Adrienne writes: “I want to thank the OLTL writers for getting John McBain involved with Gigi and Shane's situation with Ramsey. The writers should put John and Gigi together. I think they make a cute couple, especially since Gigi and Shane are staying with John now for protection. Gigi should get over Rex even if he might be Shane's father. OLTL better keep John McBain on the show. He's been a good asset to the show.”

Dear Adrienne: I enjoyed the scenes with John and Gigi, too. Honestly, I always hold out hope that John and Natalie will get back together, but I don’t see that happening in the near future. If it can’t be John with Natalie, then I could live with John and Gigi together. She’s a lot like Natalie; she’s a tough girl with a good heart. I think Gigi will probably be heading in Rex’s direction, but who knows? Things change all the time so we have to wait and see. And I’m with you; I love John McBain and I want Michael Easton to stay with the show.

Dorothy writes: “How long will it be before the question of Bree's paternity comes up again? Two blue-eyed blonde parents don’t produce a brown-eyed brown-haired child. Or am I the only one who has noticed a "resemblance" to Antonio? The Genetics Lab in Llanview has made so many mistakes testing paternity, I personally wouldn’t trust any test results they came up with.”

Dear Dorothy: I agree that paternity testing is a total joke on soap operas. Hey, if they can try to make us believe that Jessica and Natalie are twins that come from different fathers then anything is possible, but gee, I would hate to have it come out down the line that Antonio is Bree’s father. And by the way, it’s not that the Genetics Lab has made any mistakes in determining paternity. It’s that someone always tampers with the results. Security at the Genetics Lab in Llanview is about as good as the security at Asa’s mansion, Llanfair and LaBoulaie. You can walk in any time and nobody stops you. The major offender when it comes to paternity test tampering is Lindsay, but even my beloved Sam Rappaport was responsible for keeping the secret that Bo was really Matthew’s father and didn’t tell the truth until Nora read a letter from Sam that she received after he died.
