REFLECTIONS BY JILL for February 11, 2008

Well, Jessica is at it again. Don’t you just want to slap this girl? Nash should have left her in St. Ann’s for a month or so to teach her a real lesson. I can’t believe she’s messing with Alison Perkins and that she can continue to lie to Nash without even a tiny bit of conscience about it. To top it off, she’s got her brilliant sister, Natalie, going along with her scheme. Yes, I am curious about what Alison’s secret is and of course it has to do with Mitch Laurence, but I am so sick of the writers rewriting history that I expect that things won’t make sense to those of us who have even halfway decent memories.

So the brainy Buchanan girls dress up like nuns after Jessica stole the key to get them and Alison out of St. Ann’s. I found it very disconcerting that Jessica could steal that key (which was a purely Tess move), not even think twice about it and actually be proud of herself for doing it. By the way, when was the last time you saw two nuns in full habits and, oh yes, in full makeup? The only thing I enjoyed was when Alison called Jess “Tessica.” Honestly, that was pretty funny especially when said in that little snippy Alison voice. It’s also pretty stupid of Jessica and Natalie to think they’ll get Alison back to St. Ann’s when this caper at Victor Lord’s crypt is finished. Jessica is enjoying this adventure way too much.

I think that Nash is a very decent guy and I am not happy that Jessica is treating him like the little hubby who is sitting home with the baby worrying about what trouble his wife will get into next. Jessica should take a good lesson from her mother. Years ago Viki played with fire bringing out Niki Smith and it cost her most of what she loved most in life. I know that Tess is not really out, but who knows how fragile Jessica really is or could become? It won’t take very long before Nash knows exactly what his sneaky little wife has done. Let’s see her get out of this one with Nash not walking away.

It’s too bad that Jared is keeping so many secrets and duping so many people, because I could start to see a silver lining where he’s concerned when he holds out the olive branch to Nash by selling him back 1% of the vineyard so that they would be equal partners. Jared is in so deep into his charade now that he’s not going to know which way to turn. He’s lying to the Buchanans; he has his real father, Charlie, to deal with (not to mention Nigel) and to top it all off and worst of all, The Viper of Llanview, Dorian, knows his secret and is blackmailing him. That’s enough to keep even the toughest villain awake at night. I was very surprised that Jared told Viki the truth about what Tess did to him in Atlantic City and that he served two years in jail for her prank. At least now someone will understand the underlying hostility between Jared and Jessica.

At least Viki got Charlie away from Dorian’s house. I loved Viki’s face when she first found Charlie at Dorian’s. She looked like she just might be confused forever over this turn of events. And she sure had a lot of questions that Charlie had trouble answering. Hey Charlie, you’re involved with a brilliant newspaper mogul now and the best judge of character in town. It’s only a matter of time before you back yourself into a corner you can’t escape from. I wish Viki would have set Charlie straight on exactly how dangerous Dorian is and that she and Dorian are about as friendly as two grizzly bears fighting over a trash can. Once again I think this whole mess is plotline driver and not character driven because I don’t think Viki would have bought Charlie’s story if this stuff was written true to Viki’s character, especially the part about him being Charlie Balsam and being Rex’s father. Give me a break! Are you telling me that Viki is supposed to believe that Charlie came to Llanview looking for his son and didn’t find that one but, oops, picked up another one along the way? I find the whole premise where Charlie is going along with Roxy’s plea to act as Rex’s father ridiculous. Oh, and did you notice when Charlie told her that his son was in Llanview but he wasn’t in touch with him that Viki told him that she knows a lot of people in town and can help him? Hmmm, seems to me that I remember when Ben was in trouble with the mob and Viki told him that she knew a lot of people and had influence in Llanview and could help him. Are we continuing to see a pattern here?

And speaking of Viki and Charlie, I wish we could have seen more of their reunion. Not that I relish the thought of Charlie in Ben’s bed (LOL), but hey, he’s a decent guy and he makes Viki very happy these days so let’s at least see them really together and having a little romance before his whole charade blows up in his face and he forgets what the inside of Viki’s house looks like. Did you just die laughing when Dorian popped into Viki’s bedroom like she owned the place and asked Viki, “So, did you get lucky last night?” OMG, I thought it was funny when Jessica and Natalie asked Viki if she had slept with her “new boyfriend” in Texas, but when Dorian posed the question that way, I nearly fell off the couch. It was perfect when Viki said, “Dorian, go home and get a life.” Viki should realize by now that Dorian’s life is centered on disrupting hers.
