REFLECTIONS BY JILL for January 30, 2008

From Jill Berry, for About.com

Okay, next to a great romance on a soap opera, what is better than a good old food fight? NOTHING! And when the major participants are Lindsay and Nora, you just wonder if anyone will come out of it with broken bones. Toss in Clint and Bo (I can’t believe they’ve sunk so low) and you have an episode worthy of the Jerry Springer show. Someone should have given Clint an extra plateful of food down his pants just for inviting Bo and Lindsay to join him and Nora.

I love Nora and am so glad that the writers have given her new life on the show, but she was relentless in digging at Lindsay at that dinner table, implying that Lindsay had faked her whole breakdown (totally true) after Spencer’s murder. Let me be clear on the fact that I think Nora is completely justified in digging until she finds the chink in Lindsay’s armor. People need to be reminded exactly how devious and evil Lindsay has been over the years, but The Palace Restaurant just wasn’t the place to hash it out. Nora could have let the digs go for one evening to keep the peace, but she just couldn’t do it and hey, what fun would that have been anyway?

I think that Nora is completely justified in her feelings because aside from the horrible things Lindsay has done to Nora, we can’t ignore Nora’s point that Lindsay has already committed two murders and has gotten off on insanity pleas both times. Shortly after she was deemed insane, she was back to leading her normal life again. This is not a person Nora wants her son to be around and now that Lindsay is living with Bo, Nora has a good excuse to keep on top of the situation. I don’t know anyone who really thinks Lindsay would hurt Matthew, but hey, she has to be just a little bit short of a full deck to have done some of the things she’s done and she did consciously killed two people. (Nobody wanted Spencer disposed of more than I did, but obviously, that’s not the point here.) And when all is said and done, Nora is going to have the last laugh because Lindsay has been totally faking her breakdown and I will be smiling when she gets busted.

And I don’t care how many times Bo says he doesn’t care that Nora is with Clint. He cares and as much as I love Bo, his outburst at that dinner table was disgusting and way out of line when Clint pushed him to admit he was not happy about them dating and said, “Knowing that Nora cheated on me, why would you set yourself up for the same thing?” Honestly, I think Bo is wearing blinders and is acting in a very naïve way when he defends Lindsay and believes she’s a changed woman. She screwed him over when she was with him and she screwed him over when he was about to marry her sister Melanie by influencing her to lie to him. Bo has probably never forgiven Nora for her betrayal but he seems to have forgiven Lindsay.

At any rate, I don’t blame Nora for tossing her wine at Bo and the fiasco that ensued was so reminiscent of the old days that I just sat back and enjoyed the whole thing. And one more thing before we leave the Buchanan brothers for today. It was one thing for Cristian and Sarah to kiss in the middle of The Palace Restaurant. That I could stand, but come on people. When Clint moved over to Nora’s side of the table and started making out with her in the middle of the place and she went along with it I thought, “Ewww, get a room!” What is with Clint anyway? Has Nigel been spiking his oatmeal with little blue pills since he came back to Llanview?”

Were you surprised that Viki wasn’t upset about Nora and Clint dating? I wasn’t. I think Viki is so over Clint and obviously she’s so happy that he’s away from Dorian that Nora being with Clint suits her just fine. Viki is concentrating on Charlie right now and I hear that Clint isn’t going to be too thrilled about Viki’s relationship with him when he finds out about it.

Speaking of Charlie, this guy sure has let Dorian lead him into her web, hasn’t he? She has him convinced that if he tells Viki that Jared is his son and is defrauding the Buchanans, then Jared will go to jail and he’ll lose him forever and if he keeps Jared’s secret, he will lose Viki. Right now it is a shock to Charlie to find out that Viki is a high society woman whose life he thinks he wouldn’t fit into. It’s no surprise that he feels so badly about how he treated Jared as a child that he would do anything to have a relationship with him now. Dorian is doing what she does best, which is confusing the situation and spinning things to suit her agenda. And now we have Viki trying to call Charlie and he’s not taking her calls. What a mess. This is fitting so well into Dorian’s scheme. She tells Charlie that she knows Viki so well and that Viki’s time in Texas was just a little break from her real life and that she’s probably calling him to break up with him. However, I don’t think it will be long before Viki and Charlie get together. You can take a look on this website and find photos of upcoming scenes in February where Viki and Charlie look mighty cozy in her bedroom.

So Gigi is coming back to Llanview and I hear she and Shane will be bunking with John. Gee, she could do worse. I’m so glad she got a good enough scare from Ramsey that she decided she didn’t want to live that way, always being in fear of him. Of course, her son’s asthma attack in the midst of her confrontation with Ramsey probably sealed the deal for her. Bringing Gigi back to Llanview will be quite interesting for everyone, especially Rex, because it won’t be long before Adriana suspects that Shane is Rex’s son. Once Adriana is gone, it will be interesting to see what happens between Rex and Gigi.

Rex knows that there is a secret that Roxy and his Aunt Corrine are keeping about him regarding his family and finally Aunt Corrine has to admit that she’s not sure that Walter, the man he thought was his father, really is his father. I hear that Roxy is going to tell him that Charlie is his father. Whether or not it’s true is anyone’s guess. Hey, Asa isn’t around any more so someone has to be the parent to everyone in Llanview. LOL!
