REFLECTIONS BY JILL for January 21, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

And I wonder what John thought he could accomplish by going to the hospital and putting himself in the middle of all the commotion with Spencer. Natalie was right when she reminded him how painful it was just to put his coat on. I guess these two are forever going to fight about what they feel strongly about, but what makes it work for me is that they are so much alike in that way. I think John is coming around a bit more than Natalie is when it comes to compromise, but I have to say that I can understand how her fear of losing him again is so strong that she can’t help going crazy when she thinks he’s not taking care of himself. She just has to learn to hold back a little. I do like the fact that although John fights her about taking care of himself, he knows that she’s right and eventually listens to her, like when she convinced him to stay away from the hospital and told him to get back in bed. He gave her a really dirty look, but he did get back in the bed. That said a lot to me, as did his reaction when she made him take his pills and he said, “I hate you”, but swallowed them and made her smile when he told her that he would get his revenge if she ever got sick.

I thought it was a little odd that John had so much concern for Marty, but I guess he did feel somehow obligated to her after she covered for him when he tried to strangle Spencer. I think John is a better shrink than Marty is because he could see right through her and knew that she had been traumatized before this incident with Spencer, which forced her to admit that she had been raped. John doesn’t show his feelings too often, but he really does care about people, even Marty, whom he still thinks is crazy for saying Spencer wasn’t fit to stand trial.

Can we please end this horrible Vincent Jones storyline? Now another one of his buildings has been torched and of course, it looks like Cristian is the culprit. And it doesn’t help that Cris ran off in a huff that night and then the building winds up in flames. Do we need this? Do we need to waste our time watching that idiot who calls himself Vincent’s lawyer holding a press conference to discredit everyone in Llanview, including Bo? That guy is so thoroughly obnoxious and even Vincent told him he had gone too far in pointing the finger at Bo because even Vincent knows that Bo is a good guy. And do we need to watch Cristian being set up as an arsonist. It’s ridiculous. He’s an artist, hence the turpentine, but now someone is out to get him to the point where they would burn down two buildings, put evidence in his apartment and load up his computer with information about those buildings. Come one. Evangeline just gave him that computer a few days ago. Who even knows he has it, let alone had the opportunity to infiltrate it already?

It was good to see Nathaniel Marston back on the show. The actor who replaced him for those few episodes wasn’t bad, but we’re so glad to have our Michael back.

Rex is sure digging himself a deeper hole when it comes to keeping the secret about Tommy’s paternity. As smart as he thinks he is, he’ll never be as cagey as Todd and this will probably blow up in his face sooner than later.

I guess we have to get to Jessica now. Boy, this girl is getting on my nerves. Thank goodness she finally had to admit that she has feelings for Nash and doesn’t really hate him. I had to laugh when she marched into that sauna, dropped her towel and Nash stood up in all his glory to face her. She didn’t seem too upset to me even though she tried to be. And it was good to finally hear her say that she doesn’t hate him but that what she does feel for him could ruin everything. I have always loved Jessica and I had hoped that she’d be a more even combination of Jess and Tess, but I am a bit disappointed that she is mostly tempestuous Tess. Maybe now that her feelings are going to be out in the open, she can become more comfortable with what’s going on inside her and be a better combination of both Jess and Tess.
