REFLECTIONS BY JILL for January 9, 2007

From Jill Berry, for About.com

And finally we say goodbye to Claudia. Can’t say I’m shedding any tears. She was lucky Antonio found her when she was passed out on her hotel room floor. In a way I can feel sorry for her situation, but she really has deliberately tried to bug people with stupid things she has said and done (and that was when she was sober), so I’m glad to see her go.

And do we have a bit of déjà vu here with Todd and Blair and baby Tommy. Blair holding Tommy while she and Todd didn’t know he was Todd’s son was very much like when Blair used to hold baby Jack when she didn’t know he was her own baby. Oh, I remember, that was another one of Todd’s wonderful brainstorms when he tried to get rid of Blair’s baby because he thought Max was the daddy when Jack was really his all along.

And in conclusion, I wonder how many people are sorry they don’t have a mom like Roxy. I mean, come on, that woman calls a spade a spade and when she tells Natalie that she needs some sex, she’s not kidding around. And it’s just as funny that Natalie isn’t even shocked by what Roxy says. Roxy’s logic is too funny when she explains the fact that Natalie is scrubbing down John’s apartment and is being “oppressive convulsive” because she needs sex. And can you imagine Viki’s reaction if she had overheard that conversation between Natalie and Roxy? Oh, it’s just too priceless. After I got through choking on my laughter, I tried very hard to picture myself sitting around talking with my own mother and hearing her say, as Roxy said to Natalie, “I’m telling you, you need to get laid immediately.” Hmmm, somehow, I just couldn’t bring that image into focus.

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Sheree writes: “I watched in awe and hilarity this week as Todd cried after Blair lost the baby. CRIED! Todd does NOT cry. This is the one thing about Trevor St. John being Todd that I don't like. Todd of old wouldn't do that. I'm sorry; the more emotional and physical Todd is too strange. I wonder if he'll use this to get Evangeline into bed. HMMM.”

Dear Sheree: I guess where Todd is concerned people have a lot of mixed emotions. I could never stand Todd no matter what he did when Roger Howarth played the role. He was just too creepy for me. Trevor made me warm up more to Todd (lol, sometimes) because I find that I really like the vulnerable side that Trevor brings to the character. As far as Evangeline goes, I hear she and Todd might be thrown together for a short while, but ultimately, Blair and Todd will be together. And speaking of crying, what did you think of that lone tear sliding down John’s face?

Sharon writes: “There is something I don't trust about Marty Saybrook. She always looks and acts like she's up to something. I don't like her at all. I do like her son, Cole. He and Starr make a cute couple. I used to like Evangeline, but now she acts like a dog in heat all the time. She is always panting after Cristian and Todd. How long will it be before she tries to get John back? They are making her too needy acting and trampy. I wish Jess would make up her mind who she wants to be with. This going back and forth from Antonio to Nash is getting as boring as her 2 personalities was getting. How much longer must we put up with Spencer? Do something to get rid of him. Michael and Marcie are the cutest couple on the show. I would rather see Blondie and her Bartender, but I guess they were just too happy for this show.”

Dear Sharon: I’m with you on not being crazy about Marty. She annoys me all the time and I am hoping that if she stays around they will put her in a storyline that I can stand to watch. I can’t agree with you about Evangeline. I think she’s a very together, independent woman and I don’t see her at all as “trampy.” I can’t imagine why she comes off that way to you. As far as Jessica goes, I think she has already made up her mind and just can’t consciously admit it yet. I can’t say I dislike the Jess/Antonio/Nash storyline at all, but I do wish Jess hadn’t gone into that marriage when she had so many doubts. And hey, Spencer can’t leave soon enough for me. I think someone should wheel him out of the hospital handcuffed to the bed and “accidentally” sail him into the Llantano River. Ahhh, Blondie and the Bartender. Now there was a class act. It’s too bad that these days we have to make room for Vincent, Claudia and any other unnecessary characters that are very dispensable. I, too, think Michael and Marcie are way cute. I hope they stay around for a long time.

Norma writes: “Why has a new Jack been cast? They just snuck this kid in from nowhere.”

Dear Norma: I don’t know why there was a need to recast the role of Jack. I guess they wanted to age him a little bit. I’m not sure I like the change yet. He’s a very cute little boy and maybe they have things planned for Jack that require an older child. The lines they have given him, like with Todd and Blair and especially Spencer, seem more appropriate for a child his age than for the younger Jack. Hey, who knows? With the way kids age on soaps, Jack could be getting married in a year or two.
