Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL

REFLECTIONS BY JILL for January 9, 2007

From

I have a question. Why the heck does everyone keep visiting Spencer, trying to get him to be rational and cooperative? It’s just plain stupid and such a waste of time, not to mention humiliating. I couldn’t believe Bo actually thought he could get Spencer to confess to killing Thomas McBain just because he told him he’d take the death penalty off the table. Then Bo gave him time to think about it even after Spencer laughed in his face and came back to ask him to consider the offer again. When will these people learn?

I did love it when Spencer was so sure that he would get Todd for pushing him off the roof and didn’t think there were any witnesses. Bo sure shut him up when he told him that Blair defended Todd. Spencer, egomaniac that he is, couldn’t believe that Blair would do that, but Bo said it all when he told Spencer, “Truman, Todd and Blair love each other, always have and always will. You were just a speed bump in their lives.”

Natalie is another person who is foolish to think there is some point in confronting Spencer. Every time she goes near him she thinks she’s going to get the better of him with her wisecracks and brave front and every time Spencer makes a reference to her relationship with John that shuts her up and makes her want to kill him herself. It shouldn’t have been any surprise to Natalie when she goaded Spencer into a verbal dual (which doesn’t take much) and he came back at her with that very disgusting line, saying, “I am far more attractive than your hideously disfigured boyfriend.”

It’s more than obvious how much everyone hates Spencer when people like Bo and Antonio admit to each other that they hope Todd gets away without being charged for doing anything to Spencer.

And then there’s John, who is still so obsessed with getting Spencer that he is willing to risk his health and his life by leaving the hospital. Does anyone believe he will stay put and recover at home? Michael and Natalie were right to argue with him about the dangers of contracting germs and getting an infection, but they were smart to give up the fight because arguing with John in this case is a waste of time. I loved the scene where Natalie sat down with John and seriously explained to him that she knows how he felt when he lost his father because that’s how she felt when she thought she had lost him and that if she lost him again she didn’t think she could live through it. It was nice to see that she got through to him at least for now and I was shocked to see that tear streaming down John’s face as he assured her that he’d never leave her again. He’s probably got a gallon of those tears stored up from all the feelings he’s been holding in for so long.

And this argument over John taking his medication is going to escalate. It was pretty stupid of him to let Natalie think he took that pill and then spit it out when she left. There is going to be a big blowup because I hear that Natalie is going to sneak his medication into his food. Man your battle stations.

I’m surprised that John can even stand to talk to Marty these days. Obviously, she isn’t taking any responsibility for all that has happened since she helped get Spencer out of going to prison, but John sure let her know that he doesn’t agree. He let her know, in no uncertain terms, that she kept Spencer out of jail, which led to Todd being brought up on charges, which led to Blair losing her baby and reminded her that he hadn’t seen her shed a tear.

Even though Marty can relate to John when it comes to losing someone you love unexpectedly, I think commiserating with Marty is the last thing John needs. It must be getting pretty upsetting for Marty to hear that everyone thinks the same thing about her. Todd sure let her have it the same way when Blair came down with that heart problem. And speaking of Blair’s heart problem, couldn’t you just predict that Spencer would be the only one who could save her life? I am so sick of this. It was so predictable that Paige would go to Spencer and beg him to save Blair’s life. Spencer just lied there in bed like the king, calling Blair’s cardiologist an idiot and it didn’t surprise me at all that he refused to help because of course, if he can’t have Blair, no one can, especially Todd. And why bother even talking to Spencer? Todd spent a fortune getting the best eye surgeon in the world to restore Evangeline’s sight; there’s no reason to think he won’t do that for Blair. Who needs Spencer?

And tell me you didn’t die laughing after Natalie finished disinfecting John’s apartment and Roxy came in wearing that Haz Mat suit. I haven’t seen anything so funny in a long time and leave it to Roxy to wonder if John looks like a fried onion ring. Who else could get away with saying such a thing? I hope John gets to see her in that suit. I’d love to see his reaction to it.
