Back in the present, Nora and Bo went back to Seattle and were ready to take Matthew home but he refused to leave without knowing that Dani is okay. Bo and Nora decided to honor his wishes and stay for a while since they regret how they kidnapped him to London to avoid his surgery.
So, Ross has Blair and Dani at gunpoint in the garage of the hospital and just as Todd, Tea and the cops arrive, he gets them into Blair’s rental car and they take off. Bo is now working with the Seattle police to try to track them down and they know that Blair has a portable GPS, but it isn’t turned on. Finally, Ross decides they need to ditch their car and he has Dani get out on the road and hitchhike until a man stops for them. Ross gives the guy some story about their car breaking down and when the guy turns his back Ross knocks him out. What a nice guy and a great dad, getting his teenage daughter to lure a guy to stop for her. While Ross’s back is turned, Blair is able to turn on the GPS, so now Bo has an idea where they are because he can track Blair. Dani is very upset at Ross’s behavior. Blair is worried about Dani and all of a sudden the GPS starts talking. Oops! Those little gadgets pipe up at the worst times, don’t they? Ross is furious and tosses the GPS, but Bo, Nora, Tea and Todd are already on their trail and they all wind up at the Canadian border.
Charlie is certainly suffering badly over Jared’s death. He is drinking and attends an AA meeting where he tells the whole story of what happened. He expresses his thoughts about how Jared’s death is his fault because he wasn’t there for him as a child and Jared kept the secret of what Charlie did to his stepfather all these years. No one at the meeting could convince Charlie that he needed to forgive himself and his way of dealing with everything was to get up, pull out his bottle and guzzle a drink before running out of the meeting. Viki will certainly have her hands full because she only wants to take care of him and be there for him but he is convinced that he doesn’t deserve her either. It’s amazing that Viki can’t find peace for more than five minutes in he own family and now she has Charlie’s stuff to deal with, too. Ugh!
Cristian and Layla finally act on their feelings for each other and make love. Will this relationship last? Has Layla found a guy who won’t disappoint her? Has Cristian found a woman he can make commitment to? We’ll see.
Fish and Kyle are about to consummate their relationship when they each get a call about Nick being beaten up in the alley outside Rodi’s. Nick is in bad shape but is going to be okay and Fish gets him to identify the three guys who attacked him. Gigi and Schuyler also identify them and all three are arrested. John and Fish assure Nick that they guys will be prosecuted for the hate crime. I loved it when John told Fish to lock up the three thugs and said, “Put the big mouth in with Mitch Laurance.” Yeah, let him get a taste of some of Mitch’s good old-fashioned religion.
Gigi and Rex continue to have problems and things are getting worse. Rex realizes that Gigi still has feelings for Schuyler and of course, it bothers him. They have a serious talk and Rex suggests that although it is not what he wants, he thinks they should separate and give Gigi time to figure out if she can put her feelings for Schuyler in the proper prospective so she can be with Rex and also if she can deal in the long run with Stacy having Rex’s baby. Gee, for a dumb little stripper from Vegas, Stacy has certainly ripped apart the lives of a lot of people.
I was sorry to hear this week that As the World Turns will be cancelled as of next summer. This follows the demise of The Guiding Light and leaves lots of people wondering where the axing will stop. It also leaves One Life to Live as the only soap left that is based in New York since TPTB decided not to move them to Los Angeles with All My Children. I have my fingers crossed that the soap world isn’t going to totally slip away from us.
See ya next week.
Jill
