THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS TO APPEAR ON ABC DAYTIME'S "ONE LIFE TO LIVE," MAY 13
Pop music sensation "The Pussycat Dolls" will perform their hit single, the English version of A. R. Rahman's Oscar®-winning song, "Jai Ho" ("You Are My Destiny"), during the Llanview High School prom on ABC Daytime's "One Life to Live" on WEDNESDAY, MAY 13. "Jai Ho" (released on Interscope Records, Inc.) features lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. The Pussycat Dolls, who are currently featured on Britney Spears' "The Circus Tour," will tape an episode of the Emmy-winning daytime drama on Monday, March 23 in the show's New York based studio. Additionally, Nicole Scherzinger will act in scenes with Eddie Alderson (Matthew Buchanan on "OLTL").
"The Pussycat Dolls are unmatched in terms of their success as a girl group," said Executive Producer Frank Valentini. "We are thrilled to have them on 'One Life to Live' to make the prom a truly memorable event for the teens in Llanview."
The students of Llanview High School will have a night to remember, having won a radio contest and and been awarded a performance by The Pussycat Dolls. Llanview High School's prom will also be an unforgettable night for star-crossed lovers Starr and Cole as they reconnect. "One Life to Live" has dedicated itself to forging a unique path in ABC's daytime lineup as a music-focused show and has hosted such music superstars as Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige. The Pussycat Dolls join "One Life to Live's" impressive list of recording artists to appear on the show, which includes an upcoming appearance by singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata on April 2. The list also features The Plain White T's, Puddle Of Mudd, Timbaland with Keri Hilson and One Republic, Nelly Furtado, Lifehouse, Simply Red, Chris Botti and Erykah Badu.
The Pussycat Dolls' debut album, "PCD," was released in 2005 and debuted at No. 5. The album contained five major hits: the global smash "Don't Cha," as well as "Stickwitu," "Beep," "Buttons" and "Wait a Minute." The album garnered numerous awards, including two Billboard Awards, an MTV Award and a Grammy® nod for "Stickwitu."
The success of "PCD" proved to be a great springboard for the decade's No. 1 girl group franchise. Their follow up album, "Doll Domination," was released on 2008, debuting at No. 4 in the U.S. and has reached the Top 10 in 16 countries. So far "Doll Domination" has had two major hits, "When I Grow Up" and "I Hate This "Stickwitu," "Beep," "Buttons" and "Wait a Minute." The album garnered numerous awards, including two Billboard Awards, an M Part." The video for "When I Grow Up" has landed the group their second MTV VMA Moonman. The Dolls recently returned from their sold-out tour in Europe.
