He has played one of daytime’s most famous and loved villains of all time; a former Llanview bad boy – Todd Manning. Learn all about the actor who started in a “temporary” role and turned it around to one of daytime’s most popular characters. Check out these 25 facts on Roger Howarth!

    1. Roger Howarth was born on September 13, 1968 in Westchester County, New York. Howarth is 5 feet 10 inches tall, and is born under the star sign Virgo.

    2. Was a guest star on The WB’s Dawson’s Creek, which was a teen drama series which lasted for six seasons before it was cancelled in 2003. Howarth played the character of Professor Gregory Hetson from 2002-2003.

    3. Howarth attended an acting program in Connecticut at The Eugene O’Neil Theatre Center.

    4. In 1996, Howarth played the part of the Real Bad Radio Host on an episode of Diagnosis Murder.

    5. Former Guiding Light co-star with Howarth, Jesse Martin, is his son’s godfather.

    6. Howarth played the part of Todd Manning on One Life to Live from 1992-1995, 1996-1998, 2000-2003, and 2011-2012. He started working on ABC’s General Hospital in 2012, but will appear briefly on Prospect Park’s One Life to Live in 2013.

    7. Howarth’s character on ABC’s Loving was Kent Winslow, which he portrayed back in 1992.

    8. Howarth and his wife, Cari, have a son named Julian, who was born in July, 1992 and a daughter named Langston, who was born in April, 2000.

    15. Howarth’s father was also involved in the acting business in theatre work and wrote several plays.

    16. During one of Howarth’s acting projects on Broadway, he played alongside actors Stockard Channing and Laurence Fishburne in James Goldman’s production of The Lion In Winter, in 1999.

    17. After only one semester at George Washington University, where he was studying political science, he dropped out to begin acting lessons.

    18. The play, The White Rose, was Howarth’s debut role on a Broadway production. In 1989, Howarth played the role of Malcolm in the production of Macbeth at StateWest Theatre in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

    19. In late 2003, Howarth decided to take a break from his OLTL role of Todd, and he signed on with CBS for the daytime drama, As the World Turns.

    20. Howarth took over the part of Paul Ryan, on ATWT in July of 2003, and played the role until 2010 when CBS decided to cancel the soap opera.

    21. The character of Todd Manning was paired with Blair Manning (portrayed by actress Kassie DePaiva) back in 1994, and it wasn't long after that these two became one of daytime’s hottest supercouples.

    22. Howarth meet his wife, actress Cari Stahler, in a café in New York City where she once worked. Howarth, at the time, lived above the café and Cari asked him out on date.

    23. In 1995 and 1998, Howarth won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor and Outstanding Villain, respectively, for his role as Todd Manning on One Life to Live.

    24. The role of Paul Ryan, which Howarth played on ATWT, was originated by a child actor back in 1983, and has had been played by many other actors over the years.

    25. The character of Todd Manning was originally written as a day-player, which would have been short-lived, but due to the overwhelming popularity from fans, his character remained and Howarth was offered a long-term contract to stay with OLTL.
