A query as to where Will and Cris will be going led Jason to use the infamous “I don’t know” as a reply. He suggested it might be Hollywood, then added that he has no idea what will happen with the storyline, but that he has a few months to wrap it up. Jason was also asked why Will has changed so much recently. His answer was that the murder mystery has created different things to come out of Will, and that Will loves his family and would do anything to protect them.

One fan, clearly confused about how justice is administered in Llanview, quizzed Catherine about whether Lindsay would ever go to jail. “I won’t be on the show anymore, so I hope not,” was Cat’s rejoinder. She revealed that they had filmed scenes showing everybody killing Colin, so that the true culprit has remained a mystery even to the cast.

Michael Tipps confessed that he’d just finished his first week of taping, and that it had been very interesting. “Max is quite the father,” he noted. Brandon Routh, when asked if he would be romancing Jessica in the wake of Cris and Will’s departures, indicated that he has no idea yet. Currently, his character is waiting tables in Angel Square and trying to make money.

Kristen Alderson dubbed it “cool” to work with Roger and Kassie, as they’re sweet in real life. She admitted to preferring the snake to the piranhas. When someone asked if they could get free drinks at Break Bar, David quipped “sure, if RJ’s not around.” Finally, when it was suggested that Michael Knight make a trip to Llanview, he assessed his show’s ratings as being dismal, and, ever the funny man, said to tell Gary Tomlin that “I’ll work for food.”

Next came the autograph sessions. This is one area where I feel, should the event be held at the Roosevelt again, improvements could certainly be made. Given that the ballroom was smaller than that used previously at the Marriott, the cast members where divided into groups, with each group located in a different room. There were several of these spaces surrounding the ballroom, and the problem I had was that there was no announcement of which stars would be in which room. Therefore, it was entirely possible that
someone could have gotten in a line and stood there for some time before finding out that the actors he or she most wanted to see were in another location entirely. In general, given the number of fans at these events, it’s next to impossible to get a few moments with every cast member present. This is why most of us make choices, in the hopes of meeting the actors we are truly interested in.

I was fortunate. As luck would have it, I managed to be in the line I wanted. I was delighted to meet Ed Kershen, Patricia Elliott, Patricia Mauceri and Bob Woods. Ed seemed genuinely pleased to hear that so many fans were rooting for him to find a place on the show. Patricia Mauceri revealed that she may be making more frequent appearances, as Gary has indicated he believes Cris and Antonio need their mother, and that Carlotta might also be a good substitute mother figure for Jen, given the rather bad example Lindsay sets. Bob surprised me with his knowledge of Ontario (where I’m from), and with his admission that he’d often been up in my neck of the woods to play in charity tournaments organized by his good friend, Wayne Gretzky.

After weighing my options, I next chose the line leading to Michael Tipps, Brandon Routh, Larry Lau and Catherine Hickland. The two young men were genuinely likeable, as was Larry – who, I’ll admit, has a way to go to win over this Kale fan! Catherine was delighted at the interest that was being shown in her cosmetics. I was amazed to see her reach across the table and dab some powder and lip gloss on the friend I was with. If only I found applying makeup so quick and easy, LOL!

By this time it was getting late, and I was tired. I decided to forego the other lines and made my way back to my hotel room instead. I thoroughly enjoyed my opportunity to mix and mingle with the actors, and I would recommend the experience to anyone who has the chance to attend such a gathering in the future.
