While we were finishing up our lunches, the raffle winners were announced. I felt this was a great improvement over last year’s way of dealing with the raffle, when numbers were posted on a board and you had to go check – hoping you’d remember the number of the item(s) you had bid on. I would, however, have preferred that the winning items be announced in order. It seemed that things were simply being handed to the woman at the microphone in random sequence, meaning that I had to actually pay attention every time she spoke. As expected, I was not a winner, but many people were. Some lucky individuals even won their photo, with the star of their choice, in a magazine, while others snagged a coveted studio tour.

Finally, it was time for the actors to be introduced. First up were the kids, Kristen Alderson (Starr) and her brother, Eddie, who is now playing Matthew. Eddie made quite the fashion statement, appearing on stage wearing a miniature leather jacket! The cast continued to be introduced alphabetically: Linda Dano (Rae), Patricia Elliott (Renee), David Fumero (Cristian), Ed Kershen (Harry the Hook) – who appeared surprised at the enormously vocal response he received, Larry Lau (Sam) – who also rated a very supportive round of applause, Jessica Morris (Jen), Brandon Routh (the as yet to air Seth), Jason Shane Scott (Will), Michael Tipps (Al), Gina Tognoni (Kelly), Erin Torpey (Jessica), Christine Toy Johnson (the seldom seen Lisa West), and Robert S. Woods (Bo). As Carol began to announce the winners of the awards voted on by the fan club members, a few late arrivals appeared. Patricia Mauceri (Carlotta) joined the group, followed by Catherine Hickland (Lindsay), who brought along a special surprise – her husband, AMC’s wildly popular Michael E. Knight (Tad).

Carol first noted the winners who were not present. They included: Hillary B. Smith (Nora) as Lead Actress; Roger Howarth (Todd) as Villain and Scene Stealer; Mark Derwin (Ben) and the departed Kale Browne (Sam) as Supporting Actors; Kassie DePaiva (Blair) as Supporting Actress; Ben and Viki as Outstanding Couple; the also departed Ty Treadway as Newcomer; Viki’s Cancer and Colin’s Murder as Outstanding Storylines.

Awards were then given to the actors on stage. Patricia Elliott gratefully accepted her Supporting Actress nod, admitting that she’s very glad to be out of the dry period she endured for such a long time. Erin Torpey joked, upon accepting her Younger Lead Actress award, that she was pretty much the only young actress. Jason Shane Scott took the Younger Lead Actor prize, and Robert S. Woods, as usual, nabbed the Lead Actor award. He jokingly thanked “Phil Carey, for loaning us his living room,” then went on to add that the award “means the world to me.” Carol dubbed the final winner, Catherine Hickland, a “triple threat,” as she won Villainess, Supporting Actress and Scene Stealer. Catherine declared that “this means more to me than an Emmy, because you all watch the show.”
