luncheon for Erika Slezak. Ann put together a wonderful
review on the event, and added her own personal thoughts. Thanks to Ann for a

I should, perhaps, preface this report by saying that I have been a fan of Erika’s work from the moment I started watching OLTL, back in 1996. When
many of my favorites had left the show or been shunted to the back burner, this woman was the reason I didn’t desert the good ship
Llanview. Needless to say, I was very excited at the prospect of meeting her for the first

Erika arrived promptly, accompanied by her husband, Brian Davies. She looked stunning in a white pantsuit and a tangerine top. She greeted several people
warmly as she made her way to the dais.
Having attended other fan luncheons before, I was astonished when I realized that Erika would be eating, in full view of all present, at the head table.
Somehow, this struck me as courageous, since there was no telling what might end up between her teeth!
The format was a simple one. Cards had been placed on all
the tables, upon which fans were invited to write
questions for Erika. These were presented
to her, and she responded
to them between bites. I had heard that she was a warm, friendly and funny woman, and she did not disappoint.
When asked to name her favorite actors, she singled out her husband, as well as Mel Gibson, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. As far as daytime is
concerned, she admitted to enjoying the work of several General Hospital stalwarts: Jane Elliott (ex-Tracy), David
Lewis (ex-Edward), Anna Lee (Lila), Kin Shriner (Scott) and Lynn Herring (Lucy). Ever the diplomat, she
stated that she likes all of her OLTL colleagues. She did reveal, however, that she’s especially fond of Mark. She jokingly calls him her “favorite
fourteen year old,” due to his good humor and playfulness. She also praised on-screen
brother Roger Howarth, confessing that he keeps her on her toes since she’s never sure exactly what he’ll throw her
way.
She confessed that she does play pool, but that she can’t clear the table. Chalk one up for
the magic of editing! She also addressed the rumor that she was wearing hearing aids in a recent scene. The device that some fans
spotted was actually a small microphone that allowed her to hear what Ben and Gina were saying as Viki watched their scenes on TV.
