Ok. Now you've gone too far. It was bad
enough to bring back Mitch Laurence after viewers in the middle 80's
witnessed Dorian bash his brains in and then watch first Cassie and then
Dorian put on trial for his murder and seeing Dorian convicted, serve time
in Statesville and then be exonerated due to a videotape of the
murder. Now you're trying to make me and other long-term viewers buy into
the fact that Victor never died when we watched Dorian refuse to help the
old man while he was having a heart attack. You, Mr. Griffith and Mr.
Malone need to be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves for the cavalier way
you are treating the long term viewer.
Are ratings so important to you that you
would sacrifice the integrity of your second longest running soap? Are you
so enthralled with the unbelievable aspects of PC that your intention is
to make all of your shows nothing more than a thinly veiled copy of it? Do
you think the viewers are stupid enough to buy the line that Mitch
Laurence had something to do with faking Victor's death when it's well
known that Mitch didn't even know about the Lords until he met Tina in
California in the 80's? Does my and others loyalty to this show actually
mean anything to you, Mr. Valentini, Mr. Griffith or Mr. Malone? Based on
what I'm seeing on my screen when I tune in day in and day out, the answer
is a resounding and unequivocal no. It pains me to no end to watch what
you are doing to my favorite soap.
I sent you a e-mail concerning Mitch and how
the honesty of Captain Ed Hall, Rafe Garetson and Herb Callison were
called into question when it was stated that Mitch faked his death with
the help of the police department. You promised me in your reply to me
that the Mitch story would wind down but it would take a little more
time. You begged me to be patient. I agreed to do such, knowing, or
thinking I should say, that you would be true to your word and return OLTL
to the glory of it's past. You went further to state to me that all of the
writers responsible for that storyline had been dismissed. I was
reluctantly hopeful when I heard about the re-hiring of Griffith and
Malone, but now I see my hope has only turned to major disappointment. I
wonder what in the world is going through your collective minds.
This will be the last e-mail I send your way
because I am now convinced that you don't take into consideration the
viewers concerns about the show. In a matter of time I can promise you
that I will discontinue my watching the show. That will be done as soon as
I'm able to convince a large amount of people to boycott the show. My
influence goes a long way because I'm considered as somewhat of a guru on
the About.com OLTL discussion board. I'm going to do everything in my
power to see that your ratings continue to fall. After all, you've repaid
my loyalty to your show in no way at all so why should I care at all about
this show anymore.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Durham
