News of three One Life to Live actors let go within a week's time have many fans concerned, which is understandable. First, Steve Richard Harris (Seth) gets fired, next Barbara Niven (Liz) and then Laurence Lau (Sam). And who's next? Lindsay, Gabrielle, Jen, Roxy?
"What's happening to my favorite show?" has now became a common question in my Inbox. It seems these new writers are cleaning house, and obviously have no problem in getting rid of characters that don't fit neatly into their mold. More characters are expected to "get the ax" soon, which makes some fans also wonder what and who will be left in Llanview?
Well it makes sense that Viki will not be going anywhere soon, and it sounds like most of her children will also be returning. Most have also heard the news Clint Ritchie will return to Llanview for a special episode. Some fans are even speculating already this is because Clint knew of Mitch's baby, and wanted to let it go also, which will take the heat off of Viki. (I don't see this necessarily the case, and would much rather see a tearful moment between Viki and Clint over the pain Jessica has gone through this past year.) Ben and Viki fans are also anxiously awaiting any news for the return of Mark Derwin, and if Life with Bonnie will be renewed or not for a second season. This certainly may play a big part in the decision to either recast Ben, or possibly bring in somebody new to enter Viki's life in the future. News of Victor Lord's return have also been circulating the Net as well. Rumors are saying Victor will return from "the dead" thanks to an plan Mitch Laurence put into motion years ago. Well if TPTB didn't push it enough with the Natalie and Jessica twin story, this one could certainly top the cake, or even crumble it.
So what should fans expect for this year's February Sweeps and beyond? A big Llanview storm for one, and this is meant literal. Let's see, when the storm hits we will find Keri alone and in labor somewhere at least 50 miles away from the local hospital, this is of course because she ran off after learning the baby she's carrying is also Antonio's. Lindsey and Troy will probably be trapped outside in the rain together and will end up either trying to kill one another or making out, hum, I can't decide what I like better. Let's see perhaps we'll have Todd and Blair together by then, but oh no, Blair will find out Todd has lied to her.....again. Either that, Todd and Sam will be in the midst of rescuing Blair from the evil Mitch Laurence. Or will Natalie be the one who needs saving instead? And is everything on the verge of back firing on poor Jen? Does this all sound about right? Then again, this may be totally wrong, and we will have vampires on the loose instead. Oh wait, that's another show. (These were just my guesses folks, so don't take my word on them by no means)
After the sweeps, let's examine some more possibilities coming to Llanview:

Murder In Llanview? An Accidental Shooting?
These are other "spoilers" which have been circulating lately. I've heard Todd
accidentally shoots Cristian while aiming for Mitch. How could this rumor be
true? First of all, Todd missing his target? Well I guess he did accidentally
blow up a yacht once with the wrong man inside. Guess anything is possible. But
who's going to be murdered, if anybody? Is Mitch's reign of terror coming to a
tragic end this soon? Unlikely, considering Jessica will soon be returning to
Llanview in February. There has to be more intense father-daughter scenes
between them, wouldn't you think?
Bo
and Nora reunited at last!
Okay, now here's something new, or is it? Didn't fans hear Bo say to Gabrielle
the other day his (romantic) relationship with Nora was completely over? Then
again, one fan told me that probably means the opposite will happen. So will
there be a reunion between one of Llanview's favorite past couples? Well I do
know Bo and Nora will soon be working together on Mitch Laurence's case, so we
shall see how the dice is rolled on this one before long. There has been a lot
of fan support however, for Bo and Gabrielle as well. So are fans going to see
another romance fizzle out before it was even allowed to shine?
Angel Square Now Open for Business!
Gangs return for a tearful reunion. Oh my, I hope this is not what fans will
have to look forward to. What was the real purpose of Angel Square once upon a
time anyway? I thought it was to shed some light on the problems of gangs and
the dangers to young men and women. Gangs are of course still present in today's
society, but can anyone think why we need to return to and glamorize this once
again? Seriously, I'd love to hear what fans think about this one.
Llanview University Welcomes New Students!
Young adults/teenagers abound! Wow, are we really ready for an explosive of
more teenagers in Llanview? Haven't fans had enough the last two years or so of
the Jen/Marcie/Jessica/Seth/Cris/Al/Will/Roseanne/Shawna/Molly types? I think I
speak for most fans that it's perfectly okay to have teenagers on the show, but
can't they at least be involved in mature storylines? How many times can fans be
expected to sit through "girl meets boy, boy meets girl, boy meets different
girl, boy leaves first girl, boy loves second girl, first girl seeks revenge on
boy and new girl." Wow, that sounds just way too familiar, doesn't it? Here's a
thought, perhaps we could say have a new law professor hit town, and his
students are all inspiring law students who find themselves involved in a real
case/mystery they need to solve. Now of course some of students will find
themselves into a romantic situation as well, that's par for the course. But
something like this sounds a lot more mature then what has transpired lately, do
you agree?
So there you have it folks, a brief look into what may or may not happen to One Life to Live in the months ahead. But many questions from fans continue to remain unanswered, such as: Are the writers seriously concentrating on past storylines and bringing them back to present day life in Llanview? Are they going to eliminate all the characters they had no part in creating? Will they actually create fresh new characters with real life problems? Will the ratings slide even further or top the charts by the year's end? And finally back to the biggest question of all - What has happened to my favorite show? Let's hope we all get our questions answered soon.
