REFLECTIONS BY JILL….OKAY…I really wanted to believe that Margaret wasn’t dead. Although I know that she is dead, I think it would have been a wonderful plot twist if Bo and John had the whole thing planned so that Spencer would think she was dead while all the while they had slipped Margaret away somewhere. I guess once we saw Bo go to Paige and tell her that she is their only hope since she’s the only one who knows what Spencer did with Margaret that kind of doused my hopes that Mad Mags was still alive.

It was just too funny how easily Spencer accepted the fact that Bo refused to let him go into the room and tend to Margaret. Is this guy transparent, or what? He couldn’t back off fast enough when Margaret started to code. I could just hear Spencer’s internal dialogue saying, “Die you witch… I can’t let you destroy me.” Man, I can’t wait to see Spencer fall…but when the heck is it going to happen?

I don’t even think Spencer realizes how transparent he is…like when Blair took the phone call from Bo and he had to ask her about fifty times what Bo said to her in that call. Blair is playing a dangerous game with Spencer, but so far she still has him believing she’s on his side. I’ll bet Spencer was pretty surprised that David actually went ahead and told Blair every dirty little detail about him. And of course, Spencer’s ego won’t allow him to believe that Blair could have doubts about him

And what did Todd think he was doing crawling down to the Emergency Room like that? I guess he was so desperate to have Margaret bust Spencer that he thought he’d give a try at reviving her.

I was waiting for Hugh to come by and try to apologize to Todd for nearly having him killed. It wouldn’t have been so bad if Hugh had just done his job as the prosecutor, but he was disgusting I his pursuit of Todd and in his nasty harassment of Evangeline during the entire trial. I was glad that Todd told him to go to hell. Hugh needs to just live with what he did and how far he went.

I hope Paige wakes up long enough to give up all the information she has on Spencer and then leaves town. She’s not worthy of Bo. Now that Bo knows that she was keeping quiet to protect him, will he take her back? I always thought that it was a weak excuse that she was protecting Bo. He could have taken care of himself if he knew the truth. Obviously, now that his “signature” on the autopsy report has been discovered, everyone who is anyone knows that he, too, was set up. Paige should have trusted Bo and his staff to get him out of whatever trouble Spencer caused. Instead, she ruined her own life with Bo and her career over Spencer. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

And what about that guy who told John and Hugh that Bo was the one who signed the papers and claimed Margaret’s body? I can’t wait to see how Spencer got that to happen. That was twist I didn’t see coming.

Did you notice that little moment when Rex came to Paige’s room to see Bo and after Bo left Rex looked at Paige and then quietly shut the light and left? Take a good look…I think Rex looks an awful lot like Paige. I hope we get back to the storyline about her son because I’d just like some closure on that. I’d also like for Spencer to find out he’s a dad just when they’re about to lock the prison cell door on him forever. Not that I’d like Rex to be plagued with Spencer for a dad, but he has Bo so he’ll always be okay no matter what.

I thought Rex was adorable when he tried to make breakfast for Adriana. So what’s a few eggshells in your omelet when such a cutie is trying to impress you with his cooking and taking care of you? I guess they don’t give cooking lessons in P.I. School…and God knows Adriana couldn’t have learned how to cook from Dorian. It was good that Rex didn’t let her try to help.

And raise your hands if you felt bad for Blair when Todd threw her out of his hospital room and banned her from visiting. No hands raised? Hmmm…none here either! She just needs to give it up and leave him alone for a while…or forever. I thought it was a riot when that nurse tried to physically restrain Blair from entering Todd’s room. Do nurses do that? I figure maybe calling security would be a better idea…it might keep Blair from scratching her eyes out.

So, who sent Natalie those roses? My guess is it wasn’t John…but who knows? He didn’t look too happy about the roses, even though he tried to ignore them.

Now, let’s talk about Antonio for a minute. He’s just bugging the heck out of me these days. I’m not going to try to understand him any more and use the excuse that he loves Jessica so much and just wants her back. What was he thinking when he suggested and then tried to push his idea on Jessica that they should get married right away and have him adopt Brennan? He has a short memory, doesn’t he? I guess he forgot how hurt, upset and angry he was when RJ tried to take Jamie away from him and he just wanted to be the father in Jamie’s life. RJ accused him of abandoning Jamie just like Antonio would like to have it look like Nash abandoned his daughter. He doesn’t have any right to even try that with Nash being away taking care of Reston. Not that I think Nash is doing the smart thing by taking Reston on by himself…but that’s beside the point. He better get used to the fact that Nash is that baby’s father and no matter what he does, Nash is in their lives now for good. He claims to love Jessica so much but the moves he’s making these days seem more like selfish strikes against Nash.

I was glad that Jessica refused to go along with Antonio’s adoption scheme and it didn’t bother me at all when Antonio was trying to get romantic with her and she had a flashback of Tess and Nash kissing. That sure had to throw some cold water on Antonio. And did we need to see him parading around his tattoos for the entire show? What the heck was that written across his back? I know, someone will undoubtedly write to me and remind me that John has tattoos also, so let me just say in my own biased way…lol…that hey, I like John…his tattoos don’t thrill me but they don’t put a bad taste in my mouth either. Antonio has been selfish and a thorn in everyone’s side since this whole Tess/Jess mess started and although I used to enjoy Jessica and Antonio, I am very much over that these days. If Antonio weren’t so selfish, he’d realize that his thinking…that by marrying Jessica they could keep Tess from coming between them….is ridiculous. Thank goodness Jessica has the level and fair head on her shoulders that she has. At least Jessica realizes that her integration is of the utmost importance and has to come before any decisions in her life. I thought she did the right thing when Nash called and wanted to talk to the baby and she said, “I owe him that much.” Jessica’s heart is as big as her mom’s…thank goodness.

And since I don’t trust Claudia Reston as far as I can throw her, I can’t help but want to kick Antonio for hiring her to sing at Capricorn. I don’t care if she’s got a voice like ten angels. She’s trouble and Antonio was nothing less than vindictive in hiring her. I hope Nash knows what he’s doing by putting his faith in Claudia to help him. She’s too much in control of herself these days and she doesn’t seem like she’s going to let him bulldoze her like he did the last time. And she’s way too perky to be believable. It’s obvious she has an angle and she barked up the wrong tree when she asked Rex to investigate Jessica for her. Maybe she would have been smarter to figure out the connections in Llanview before she started trying to manipulate everyone’s lives. After all, Rex is almost like a brother to Jessica…well kind of…since he’s Natalie’s brother…lol…well, kind of!

I loved the scene between John, Michael and baby Tommy when Michael brought the baby to the police station to see John. I had to laugh when John saw Michael with the baby and said, “What the hell is that”…and Michael said, “You’re a detective…it’s a baby, Sherlock!” I love the way Michael ribbed John and I cracked up when Michael made John hold the baby and John held him away from him like he was a porcupine. You can just imagine how terrified John was holding that baby…but I think maybe he liked it a little bit, too. I do believe I saw John crack a few half smiles there. And how ironic is it that the baby’s name is Thomas?

And how cute and funny was Marcie when she and Michael took the baby to the pediatrician? She cracked me up with her questions for the doctor, especially the ones regarding the doctor’s education and how long she’d been practicing. Marcie has such a loving soul and she doesn’t want that baby to have any problems, especially after the sad start he got in life. And hey, if he turns out to be Todd, Jr. (which we all figure he is), then he’s going to be the center of a real mess, isn’t he? Hey, wouldn’t it be a riot if the one person who could blow Spencer out of the water were right under his nose, in the form of baby Tommy who was supposed to be Todd’s murdered son who was never murdered? Now that would be fun to watch.

So, now Cristian is teaching Evangeline to box. I guess it’s a good way for anyone to take out their frustrations and unfortunately Evangeline sure has a bunch of those. She’s so emotional about Todd’s situation and it must be horrible for her to be blind and have to wonder what’s going on around her all the time. One thing that bothered me the other day was that as soon as Evangeline found out from Bo and John that Margaret remembered everything, she raced up to see Todd and told Spencer the news first. Why doesn’t everyone realize that the element of surprise is what is going to take Spencer down…not warning him that everyone is on to him and alerting him at every turn. Todd told Spencer that the police have been filling Blair’s head with all their suspicions about him. That’s just not smart…and if it is assumed that someone is dangerous like Spencer is, then why give him the ammunition he needs to put even more people out of commission so they can’t expose him?

Oh, one more thing about Evangeline. Do you notice that wherever she goes she just shows up at the door and has to wait for someone to come and get her? It’s stupid that we always hear that someone dropped her off….at The Palace…at the hospital…at the gym. Shouldn’t we actually see someone escort her inside and make sure she gets to where she’s going…or to the person she’s going to see? It’s just plain dumb to me. I really want them to treat Evangeline’s storyline with more truth and respect. Renee can handle it…that’s for sure.

Call me crazy, but since when is Nora sitting up and trying to speak? The last time we saw her she had just opened her eyes a tiny bit and was flat on her back and totally out of it. Now she’s sitting up, reading a book and refusing to speak. Wow, talking about moving things right along. I enjoyed the scenes where Matthew and RJ tried to force her to speak and it was really nice when she finally did try to get out a few words…saying “I’m proud of you” and “I love you” to Matthew and “Thank you” to RJ. At least Matthew is getting something in his life that he wants so badly…his mom back. That little guy has been through more than enough. And it sure has to be hard for someone like Nora to deal with her condition. After all, she’s the motor mouth of Llanview and now it’s hard to even get a word out without feeling self-conscious.

And to tell you the truth, I understand that RJ didn’t think it was a good idea for Lindsay to be in the room and that it would keep Nora from trying to speak…but I think that the best way to get Nora to speak would have been to let Lindsay loose on her and have her yell at her and criticize her for lying around on her butt feeling sorry for herself while the world passed her by. That would make Nora mad enough to eat nails and also, mad enough to use her voice to throw Lindsay out of her room. I would have welcomed a little of the old Lindsay/Nora hateful banter.

I gave Kevin a break last week by not ripping him apart, but I’ve had just about enough of him now. We never see him without a drink in his hand and already drunk and it’s getting pretty boring. I hated the way he put Kelly’s things outside the carriage house and threw her out. He made it sound like Viki let Kelly stay in the house because she felt sorry for her and she had nowhere to go. Excuse me, Kevin…Kelly also has a mansion she can live in if she chooses. She’s the one who chose to live on her own while you either live with mommy or grandpa. And she doesn’t need that job at Buchanan Enterprises either. I am tired of the vile things Kevin says to Kelly regarding he relationship with Duke. Yes, she made a horrible mistake. Shall we crucify her forever? And finally…finally Kelly stood up to him and got tired of taking his garbage when she told him that she thought she’d always love him and now she knows she can’t any more. I’m glad she stood up for herself….because Kevin can only abuse her if she stands there and lets him, so she’s smart to walk away and let him wallow in his own self-pity.

And now let’s get to the most important thing in Llanview….looking good! I was hysterical when Dorian met Blair for breakfast and said, “What’s with that outfit? You look horrible!” And then ten minutes later, Blair comes by and says, guess what, “Kelly, what’s with that outfit?” I guess we should have figured it out…and so should Kelly…that hey, who cares if you just went through hell and almost died…your outfit is disgusting and the people who love you don’t want to be seen with you when you are not sporting your finest designer duds. Get with the program, Kelly girl! Of course Dorian thinks there’s nothing wrong with admitting that whatever Kelly is going through is not nearly as important as what it will do to her efforts to win over Clint.

And in closing…my laugh of the week…believe it or not….came from Spencer. That’s right. I nearly died laughing when he caught Blair lying to him when she said she was going to pick up Jack and she visited David instead…and Spencer go all bent out of shape and said, “Blair, you lied to me. I can’t believe you lied to me.” Excuse me Doctor Evil…aren’t you the man who hasn’t spoken a word of truth to anyone since you set foot in Llanview? Move over Jessica…Spencer needs some room on that shrink’s couch, too!

See ya next week….

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Mary writes: “I just wanted to comment on a specific part of your June 5th commentary regarding Cristian and Evangeline. GOD BLESS YOU!! Finally, an observation from someone who doesn't think I'm nuts for loving Cris & Van as a couple and seeing their chemistry from WAY back. I saw something special about Cristian and Evangeline last year when she first came to see him in prison. When their eyes met, there was intensity and caring eventually from both and a TRUST level was established. Now here we are a year later and that TRUST level is being reaffirmed, but with a little something tangible....LOVE. I see it every time they are on my screen...together or individually...it's there. Renee and David are bringing classic romance back to the daytime screen and summer love is going to be really HOT & SPICY with Cris and Van. This is so personal for me because when Renee and I visited in April in Houston, she alluded to this wonderful love story being developed for her character Evangeline and she was so excited and committed to it flourishing. And Renee asked the fans for their positive support for her character's new love interest and support for her decision to move forward with a new chapter in Evangeline's life.”

Dear Mary: You will be happy to know that many people are writing to me these days in support of Cristian and Evangeline. Although there is quite a fan base for Evangeline and Todd, I have to say that although they have the makings of a lovely lifelong friendship, I don’t see the romantic chemistry…at least not from both sides. Todd may have feelings for Evangeline, but I think those are based on the fact that she supported him when no one else did and stood by him. Who knows? I guess it could go either way. With Cristian though, the mutual feelings are obvious and it is a relationship that both of them deserve. It’s nice to hear about your visit with Renee and that she is ready for Evangeline to move on and have a good life with a good man. I’m all for it and I think Cristian fits the bill perfectly.

Lamar writes: “What is wrong with the look Cris is wearing? Tacky hair, needs a shave !!! Do the writers think it makes him look hot!!!  And you know Cris & Evangeline don't look comfortable kissing. It seems like they say, ‘ok, here we go again!!!’”

Dear Lamar: Well, all I can say is that I don’t know if the writers think that Cris’s look makes him look hot, but I can assure you that there are tons of women out there who think he sizzles. Yes, he is a bit scruffy and even though I could stand to see his hair styled a bit, but I can’t say that I mind his look too much. Honestly, the Cristian that David Fumero has brought to the show this time around has a great edge to him while still maintaining Cristian’s good heart. In the past, I didn’t care one way or the other about Cristian Vega but since David’s return during the Tico storyline, I have a whole new interest in Cristian. And honestly, I couldn’t disagree with you more about the kissing scenes. They are sweet, romantic, and sensual and just plan hot! The actors sure don’t look uncomfortable to me.

Momnme10 writes: “I truly believe that people forget that the characters portrayed on soap operas are called, "ACTORS" what they say, or whom ever they portray depends on the writers, if you don't like the character that the "ACTOR" is playing, I suggest that you write to the writers of the show. As for John and Natalie, I love seeing them together, and I love the way these two "ACTORS" portray their characters. I also love Nash and Tess…I do not like Antonio. I would love to see Todd and Evangeline together. I met many of the ONE LIFE TO LIVE actors, and they were all such kind, beautiful human beings.  I must mention one more character and that is REX, I hope that we see a lot more of this actor.”

Dear Momnme10: Yes, I agree…some people do tend to confuse the actors with the characters. I find lots of fans that dislike characters because they have feelings about the actors, either from things they have heard or from meeting the actors and not coming away with good feelings. Personally, I don’t care what the actors’ personalities are like off camera (although most have the reputation of being very fan-friendly). If I like the character, that’s all that matters to me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I like being in a situation where even though they sometimes get very heated, people share their opinions and sometimes we get a perspective on a storyline or a character that we didn’t think about before. I agree about Nash and Tess…actually, Nash and Jessica together make a great couple in my opinion since Tess and Jessica are becoming more and more like one person. Antonio can bow out any time as far as I’m concerned…and yes, seeing more of Rex can only be a good thing.

PABLUE4 writes: “I have just one question for all of those fans out there who are so sure that John is still in love with Evangeline. If in fact that were so, why has John in the almost year since SHE broke up with him, not done a single thing to get back with her? Yes, he had that one drinking night appearance at her door, when he was worried about not finding Natalie and was looking for a little comfort, but even then under the influence he still didn't make any grand proclamations of love. Yes, he looks at her in a different way, but he did have feelings for her and feels guilt at their break up. Hell, John feels guilt over every thing. But, when it comes to Natalie he stands there and takes everything she has to dish out at him, he's apologized more times than he could, he's done everything to be in her orbit as well and wished that there was something he could have done to change the whole Cris situation. He never pushes her away and comes running the second she needs him.
And, while their love scenes weren’t exactly what I'd hoped for, I guess if all he was looking for was mindless sex, it was still Natalie's arms he ended up in, and not Evangeline’s, which is pretty much all their relationship was based on anyway.”

Dear PABLUE4: I can’t disagree with you. I don’t think that John has or ever had the same kind of feelings for Evangeline that he has for Natalie. However, I do think that John and Evangeline have a special relationship that is close even though it is not romantic. He truly cares for her and worries about her, but it’s true…hers are obviously not the arms he chooses to be in. We could go on for days…no weeks…no months in the debate over who John should be with…but at this point, the argument is so old that I don’t think there is anything new to talk about.
