REFLECTIONS BY JILL….First, I would like to congratulate Erika Slezak on her 35th Anniversary with One Life to Live…35 wonderful years that she has given to her fans…and may I say that it was a special treat to see all those old clips that were shown at the top of several scenes last week. I only wish they were longer than the few seconds we got to see. Any guesses as to which one I loved best? Hmmm…could it have been the one where Ben proposed to Viki over the pool table at Crossroads by letting her find the engagement ring he slid onto the cue stick? Yep, that was the one. Ahhh…those were the good old days. Anyway, back to the present…shucks!

OKAY…I haven’t stopped steaming all week about Dorian. It took me about 30 seconds to go from laughing about her new assistant’s name being Dorian and how she insisted there was only one Dorian (how true)…to wanting to see her fry for what she did to Rex.

It was bad enough that she had to stick her nose in and interrupt what was shaping up to be a really nice, romantic evening for Adriana and Rex (and we never get enough romance to start with)…but when she hired those thugs to get Rex away from Adriana, what did she expect to happen? It just went from bad to worse. I hated the fact that they planted drugs in his room…then planted them in his bag in Adriana’s room, but it really made me sick when they beat him up, left him in that alley and had that creep shoot him up with heroine. And just when I thought I couldn’t get any more furious, we had to see Dorian getting the news of what had happened and see her convince herself that she didn’t know they would use drugs so it wasn’t her fault…and then refuse to help Adriana when she called her. She actually made herself believe that as long as she got Rex away from Adriana, she could live with what happened, as long, of course, as it wasn’t traced back to her. I wonder if she realizes that she let on to Kelly that something had happened in New York with Rex when there was no way for her to know that unless she had planned it herself.

I sure was hoping that when Adriana said she knew who set Rex up she would realize that it was Mommy Dearest, but I guess even Adriana couldn’t imagine her mother having Rex pumped with drugs just to keep them apart. It’s a good thing Rex was quick to figure out the truth. I want to see how he handles Dorian. This could be just the leverage he needs to put her in her place…well, at least for a few minutes. She’s done some horrible things, but this really hurt her own daughter…and that’s disgusting, even for Dorian. But it’s not the first time she hurt Adriana to get what she wants, is it?

And was Dorian kidding when she was so flustered about having to run Craze and she said, “If I can run a hospital, I can run a magazine.” Would someone please remind Dorian that she spent so little time running that hospital and did such a horrible job that she was fired?

So, are we now going to be treated to regular boxing matches now that Cristian “Rocky” Vega has won a big fight? Honestly, I can live without the boxing. I thought it was a bit over the top how everyone got so into it, especially Natalie. But it sure made Roxy happy to win a bundle of money on the fight. She even got to go to The Palace and order a bottle of “good wine…you know, the kind with a cork in it.” She kills me. All we needed at the end of that fight was a little, “Yo, Adrian” from Cristian. I was surprised that Roxy didn’t yell it out.

I thought Evangeline’s arrest was ridiculous, especially when she was running down the alley and it had to be Horrible Hugh who stopped her at gunpoint. Sheesh…is that guy everywhere? What a jerk! And tell me this…is it the norm for the Assistant District Attorney to be the one chasing perps down alleys and reading them their rights, or is that the job of the police? Hmmm…seems to me Hugh should stay behind his desk where he does enough hard work annoying the citizens of Llanview.

And I love when Hugh makes his little threats to John as if John gives a hoot that Hugh is even standing in the room, like when Hugh told him that he wanted to know what information Evangeline gave him…and that he could make it easy for John to get his badge back, or impossible. John was just quaking in his black boots, wasn’t he? Hey Hugh, when did you take over Bo’s duties?

I nearly laughed my head off when Evangeline was finally released and Hugh told her that he was only doing his job and said, “No hard feelings.” Evangeline should have taken that time to accidentally spill a cup of coffee on his fancy loafers, or whatever jerks like him wear.

And to think that Hugh was the guy who was so sweet to Marcie a while back. What the heck happened to him? They say he’s got issues. Well, bring it on…and it better be good for us to put up with the jerk Hugh has become.

I have to give a few points to John’s department shrink. Although I wanted to smack him for reading John the riot act in the middle of the police station and in front of Natalie…I forgave him later on when Hugh wanted to know what was in the note John received form Todd and the shrink told Hugh “where to go” when Hugh asked him what was in the note when John wouldn’t tell him. Good for you, Crosby.

And how sweet it was of Lindsay to run to RJ with the news that Todd was hiding in her warehouse. It sure didn’t take RJ long to head for the police station and offer what he knew for a deal to get himself off the hook. Hey, we knew RJ would never go to trial anyway…nobody who is guilty ever does go to trial, do they? I’m still waiting for Asa to go to jail for framing Will Rappaport…and that crime was committed about six years ago. I guess with all his heart attacks and marriages, Asa doesn’t have time in his busy schedule for an annoying little trial.

And Todd is on the run…and where does he go? To Victor’s crypt! Sheesh Todd…couldn’t you find a better place to hang out. I know that Victor is the root of all of his evil, but that place just creeps me out and to this day I can’t understand why Viki put Ben there. Todd should have gone to talk to Ben instead.

It was a bit creepy when Tess showed up at the crypt and said she came to thank Victor for making her what she is today. Was that a clue?

And I sure hope that now that the truth will finally be coming about what happened to Jessica, Viki can start to heal and get some peace. Yeah, fat chance. I’m sure that whatever that girl Rose has to show Viki and Clint won’t be of any comfort to them. I hope Viki is able to deal with what she’s about to find out. She looks so sad, so distraught. We need a bit of the smiling Viki back. She’s been gone too long. I’m sure I don’t have to remind everyone of the last time she was really happy in her life. It was a long time ago…and Viki is still wearing those wedding rings.

We did see a bit of Natalie’s immaturity pop out last week when her jealousy of Evangeline reared its head. It was hard for her to take the fact that John and Cristian were so focused on Evangeline…and I think Roxy gave Natalie great advice…that she better decided on who she wants to be with…if either of these guys…before she loses both of them. That was a very intense and personal moment between John and Evangeline when they took the cuffs off her and he held her wrists. I can easily see Cristian with Evangeline, although Evangeline is no more over John that Natalie is. We need some movement for these four characters…and some good romance wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Anything could happen. Hint, hint, writers!

Were you as hysterical as I was when Tess was on the airplane, flying out to California and she was talking to Jessica through the TV screen? I died laughing watching her talking so loudly and the woman next to her didn’t blink an eye…just slept through the whole thing. Then when Tess changed seats and Jess popped out on that screen…how silly was that? I would have loved it if the people around her started staring and had the flight attendant lock her in the bathroom for the rest of the flight because she was unstable.

How obvious was Blair when she went to visit Evangeline in jail? Blair certainly stinks at pretending she doesn’t care about Todd. There was no way I was worried that she was going to tell Hugh that Evangeline had seen Todd. And now Blair is taking the kids on a ski trip. Sure, that’s a good way to deal with everything. How long do you think it will take for Spencer to show up? I sure hope Todd found what he needs to nail that bum when he went through Spencer’s files. Of course Spencer won’t find him snooping in his office…Todd will find a way to slip away somehow…isn’t that always what happens in soaps. Hide behind the door…slip out the window…or like Todd, under the desk.

I loved Michael and Marcie and their run-ins over their wedding plans. Just when they had me laughing I started to feel so sad when Marcie talked about having to plan a wedding when she had no mother, no sister and now no best friend any more. Thank goodness Michael understood all that before she even had to say it. How sweet it he?

And the laugh of the week was during Lindsay’s visit to Dorian when she delivered that painting to the Craze offices. It was too funny when Lindsay was trying to convince Dorian that Rex is a great guy and Dorian said, “Thank you Mrs. Robinson.” I loved it when Lindsay came back and reminded her of her little dalliance with Joey Buchanan. That shut Dorian up pretty quickly. Maybe Lindsay should hang around her more often.

See ya next week….

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Carol writes: “Isn't anyone interested in Paige’s son?? Now that she knows - when will we know? They are making Rex and Hugh obvious choices, so I am wondering could it be Nash? What do you think?”

Dear Carol: Certainly tons of people are interested in knowing which one of the three “boys” is Paige and Spencer’s son. I have no idea at this point and people whom I’ve spoken to who usually have a clue about these things don’t know. Personally, I’m hoping it’s Hugh because I don’t care much for him lately (an understatement) and it would fit perfectly for him to be the obnoxious prig that he is because he inherited that lovely trait from his father. I don’t want Rex to be plagued with Spencer for a father because he’s had enough garbage in his life without having to deal with Spencer for a daddy and possibly Dorian for a mother in law down the road. Maybe it is Nash…I think Nash could probably hold his own very well with Spencer so I probably wouldn’t mind Nash being the winner of this horrible contest, either….but Hugh is my hope for the grand prize.

Cathy writes: “Even though as I have said before I'm not a fan of this DID storyline, I am so impressed with the acting of Erika Slezak. That scene in the bar when Clint brought her back to be Viki was incredible. I mean her face even changed from the wild Niki to the loveable Viki. No wonder this lady has won the Emmy many times. I hope this Spencer thing doesn't last too much longer…wanting to reach into the TV and smack him is a bit dangerous. I also like Natalie but sometimes she is a bit nerve racking being such a busy body. The friend thing is not working for me. She doesn't want Cristian or John but she spends an awful lot of time sticking her nose in their business.”

Dear Cathy: Truer words were never spoken. I was just mentioning the other night to a fellow fan that Erika is like a chameleon. She can change her look at the blink of an eye to suit whatever Viki is going through. One minute she can look like a distraught woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders, or like she’s about to have a heart attack…and when the scene calls for it, she can look like she just stepped off the cover of Vogue. I love watching her…when she’s on the show, it makes my viewing 100 times more pleasurable. Yes, Natalie can be a busy body…and I agree, the friendship thing with Cristian and John is getting very old. She needs to make that decision or walk away from both of them (I hope she doesn’t do the latter). I think she truly wants them both in different ways and if we could bottle the perfect combination of John and Cristian, that would make her happiest. Too bad we live in the real world and that won’t happen. My vote still goes for John and Natalie…and I think Cris and Evangeline have a great basis for a lasting relationship. Just my humble opinion.

Beth writes: “Am I missing something with this Margaret death scenario? I thought they performed a DNA test on the "body" that washed up and it proved that it was hers. Now, Margaret is alive with baby. How could that be if they found her dead body?”

Dear Beth: Surely you’ve been watching soaps for long enough that you know no one is ever really dead…LOL! As a matter of fact, I am counting on that and waiting for one very handsome, sweet and charming man to be resurrected as we speak. As far as Margaret is concerned…they found a body…they assumed it was Margaret from the tests that were done….but with Spencer involved in this whole dirty mess, you can bet that he had everything to do with leading the police to their conclusions and that’s the reason why the entire town of Llanview is on a manhunt for a man who didn’t kill the “victim”…while the “victim” is lying on a beach in the tropics sipping a margarita. Hey, it makes perfect sense to me!
