REFLECTIONS BY JILL….If anyone was wondering if there could possibly be a worse liar in Llanview than Paige Miller, we have our answer now…it’s Evangeline Williamson. I feel sorry for Evangeline. Todd put her in an impossible situation last week by showing up at her doorstep and since she’s one of the “good guys” and is only used to doing the right thing, she didn’t really have any time to come up with a plan for what to do about Todd. Not that it would have mattered. She was doomed from the start and not by Todd, but by her annoying sister, Layla. Yes, Layla…gosh, I knew it would serve a purpose for her to stick around Llanview…he purpose is to annoy us and I don’t know about you, but she certainly succeeded in annoying me.
It wasn’t bad enough that she had to assume Evangeline had a man staying over when she asked her to stay somewhere else for the night. (I guess I’d have figured she had a guy over, too)…but she had to bring her nosy self home the next morning and badger Evangeline about who the man was. What business was it of hers anyway? And to top it all off, she had to get right in John’s face, assuming he was the mystery man in Evangeline’s apartment. Wait until Evangeline winds up in handcuffs and Layla realizes that she helped put the police on Evangeline’s trail.
I can’t blame Evangeline for helping Todd. I guess she didn’t have much choice since she couldn’t, in all good conscience, put him out on the street to be shot on sight. But once Bo and John were on to her and I saw her walking into the police station to find out what they knew about Todd’s whereabouts, I wanted to scream at her, “Turn around and run!” Too late…she walked right into John’s trap. Like I said…she’s a bad liar and she made it way too easy for John and Bo to figure her out.
And one more thing about Layla. I hope Duke stays sober enough to keep his distance from her. She never means to, but she seems to drag trouble around with her wherever she goes and now that Duke has admitted to her that he really has feelings for Kelly, he better be careful that old “Loose Lips Layla” doesn’t bury him with the information he’s given her. Kevin already has big suspicions about Kelly and Duke and with Layla working at Buchanan Enterprises, it’s only a matter of time before she causes World War III. As for Duke and Kelly….bor-ring! I have no interest in the two of them as a couple, nor do I care to watch Kevin’s jealousy over it.
As it turns out, that warehouse is not the best place for Todd to hang out, is it? It turns out it belongs to Lindsay, which means, from what I hear, that RJ is going to be instrumental in Todd being found out. RJ is supposed to make some kind of deal with Hugh, obviously RJ will trade what he knows for immunity. There is no love lost between RJ and Todd…that’s for sure. Do we even remember what the cops have on RJ this time? Oh yeah, those dirty dealings that Antonio revealed that made RJ lose custody of Jamie. And why has all this time gone by without RJ facing the music?
I hear that Hugh has a lot of issues that we’re going to learn about which have made him into the mad hunter for Todd that he has become. It better be good because right now I don’t have a lot of kind feelings for the pain in the butt Assistant D.A.
I felt bad for Todd when he had to see his kids in the park with Blair…especially when Slimy Spencer came by and Todd had to hear that Jack called Spencer to take him to the father/son event at school. Ouch…that hurt Todd bad!
Poor Viki…she doesn’t have enough to deal with…she had to find Todd in her library at Llanfair when the house was surrounded by cops. I laughed when he asked her to hide him out. Did he think she had a place to hide him? Her attic certainly isn’t a good hiding place any more since everyone in Llanview knows she hid Ben there for weeks…or was it months? That’s the first place Bo would look.
I can’t say I liked Cristian’s offer to Natalie that he’d give up boxing if she could just tell him that they might have a chance one day. That wasn’t fair and I was glad she told him she couldn’t promise him anything. Natalie’s boxing lesson held quite a lot of chemistry. The whole John/Natalie/Cristian triangle is getting to the point where something better give…and soon…because now it’s obvious to the three of them that not only doesn’t Natalie hate either of these men, but she wants them both in her own way and has admitted that she feels like she’s betraying one when she’s with the other. A decision has to be made soon. Lots of people are already sick of the situation and more are getting there quickly. I think it’s obvious that both men want to be with Natalie. She obviously loves John but can’t forget what she had with Cristian when she’s with him. I still think her heart lies more with John because even when she thought Cris had first come back from the dead and she thought she had her husband back, she still couldn’t get John out of her head.
John certainly wasn’t jealous when Layla told him Evangeline had another man staying overnight in her apartment…and that was before he realized that it had to be Todd.
I found it interesting and funny when John went to the gym to talk to Cris and Cris said he was surprised because he was the last person he thought John would come to for advice and John said, “I’m heavily medicated, don’t put too much stock in it.” Then Cris told John that he was sure he’d do the right thing. Hmmm…I do believe that under different circumstances, John and Cris could be good friends. Watch…one day I bet that happens.
I again saw a lot of growth in John in his scenes with Michael where they talked about John needing to avenge their father’s death and John told Michael that if he could just solve that case maybe he could calm down and at the end of the day, maybe he could get some peace. I loved it that he could make that admission. It’s nice to see that John finally knows what’s holding him back from getting on with his life and is admitting it…and even more that he wants to get on with his life now. I’m so looking forward to seeing all of John just open up one day. Hey, I can hope, can’t I? And at least John can say I love you to someone…even if it is Michael. Isn’t that growth? LOL!
I was surprised and sorry that Nash left town…and just as he arrives in Napa, look who shows up…Mr. Reston. When is this guy going to realize that his daughter has gone around the bend? Now Nash doesn’t only have to worry about his own body being broken in half, he has to worry about Reston hurting Tess. I think he should at least alert Clint that he had that visit from Reston. After all, Clint has done more than his part in defending Nash and standing by him.
I don’t know what to say about Bo and Paige at this point. She’s lying to him more every day…he knows it…he’s taking it. I don’t get it. Obviously, he loves her…or thinks he does…and not hurting Matthew plays a big part in what decision Bo makes, but she’s at the ridiculous point with her lies and evasions and Bo looks like a fool when he doesn’t put his foot down…seriously. Her telling him that everything she does is for him is just stupid.
I am totally enjoying Rex and Adriana. How cute was he to get two rooms at the hotel in New York because he didn’t want her to think he was being pushy and after only one thing like the old Rex? He certainly gets the award for the most changed citizen of Llanview…that’s for sure.
And for my laugh of the week I salute Viki, who doesn’t need to say a word to let us know that she’s happy, sad, disappointed, furious, jealous…or any other emotion you can think of. The scene at The Palace where Dorian insinuated herself at Viki and Clint’s table was hysterical. There was Dorian flirting her little head off with Clint, trying to get under Viki’s skin…and boy, did she ever succeed? If Viki’s face was any indication, she was just about ready to douse Dorian with the nearest pitcher of water. I died laughing when Dorian asked Clint to dinner and Viki stood up saying, “Excuse me, I’m going to be sick.” I guess Clint really wanted to get Viki’s goat and he did just that by accepting Dorian’s invitation, even though he took it back as soon as Viki left the table. I loved Viki’s way of telling Dorian “where to go” when she said, “Dorian, your breakfast must be getting cold. Why don’t you go back to your table and EAT IT?” I’m not crazy about Viki showing her jealousy of Dorian and Clint, but her reactions are priceless and Dorian just eats it up…enjoying every minute that she can bug Viki. Viki and Dorian are still one of the best things about watching One Life To Live.

Dear BMConway53: Hmmm…I don’t know that Evangeline and John will be getting together, do you? I didn’t really see them as the hottest couple in Llanview. Actually, I don’t think we currently have a really, really, hot couple in Llanview. We have several possibilities…Adriana and Rex…Dorian and Clint (LOL)…Tess and Nash…and, oh yeah, maybe Natalie and John. I don’t see Natalie as “pathetically trashy.” I suppose some people might see Evangeline’s still pining away for John all this time as pathetic, too. I don’t necessarily see her that way, but since she’s the one who walked away from him, it could easily be seen as pathetic that everyone knows she’s not getting over him any time soon…and it has been a long while.
Mfhauld writes: “Is the woman who plays "Paige" the actress who played "Lee" a few years ago? "Lee" spent the night with "Antonio," only to find out later she was his mother-in-law. The resemblance is uncanny.”
Dear Mfhauld: No, the actress who plays Paige is Alexandra Neil. I can’t remember the name of the actress who played the role you’re speaking of….but it wasn’t Ms. Neil. The woman who spent the night with Antonio was Liz, not Lee, and she played Keri’s mother, who didn’t know who Antonio was when she slept with him…and Antonio didn’t know she was Keri’s mother. Someone mentioned to me that Alexandra Neil had a very brief role on OLTL a while back as Dorian and David’s wedding planner. I remember there were a couple of scenes with a wedding planner, but I can’t picture her in my head…maybe you can.
Kathleen writes: “Just a quick observation. I too loved the scenes of Natalie caring for John after the crash. I think the writers drove home well the distinct differences in the way Evangeline and Natalie approach John about his past when John said "can we not talk about this now" she responded by just saying that if he wanted to talk, he would know where to find her and left. Evangeline use to act as if it was her personal crusade to expose his soul and release all his secrets whereas, as Natalie has stated before, she will not push him to say things he does not want to.”
Dear Kathleen: Natalie’s approach to dealing with John certainly seems to make it easier for him to open up…I agree. Like I’ve said before…Evangeline wasn’t satisfied that she couldn’t “fix” John and make him open up the way she needed him to…and I think she was right to walk away from him if she wasn’t getting what she needed out of the relationship. Having also come from a troubled background like John, I think Natalie just seems to know how to relate to John in a way that doesn’t always put his back up. It seems to make it easier for him to open up when he’s not pressured.
Wandasmullen writes: “I think Jessica is the alter and not Tess. Tess has dropped all kinds of hints in the last few months. And remember when Viki recalled little girl 'Jessica' standing in the chair in her shoes saying, "little girls should be seen too?" (or something like that?) Jessica would have never done that. But it is classic Tess. And Natalie made the remark that Tess is like her when she was a little girl. Of course, I could be wrong. But I hope I'm not. I want Tess and Nash forever. This is one way to seal it.”

Wandasmullen: I don’t think that Tess is “real” and Jessica is the alter. I
remember the scene where Viki described Jessica jumping on the couch and when
she realized that it really was Tess, Tess confirmed that it was her…but it was
implied that that incident took place after Tess had already been “born” which
was after the trauma Jessica suffered in that bar…whatever it was. Tess was
already coming out for Jessica when no one even had a clue she existed. It also
must have been Tess that was terrorizing Dorian several years ago when Jessica
lost baby Megan as a result of being in the hit and run accident where Dorian
was the driver. I’d like to see Jessica integrated with a taste of Tess in her
personality…and yes, I’d like to see her wind up with Nash, too. I can’t help
it, but these days, I don’t miss Antonio very much. He added even more stress to
an already too tense and impossible situation.
