REFLECTIONS BY JILL….Would someone please pass Blair the smart stick!!! Jeez…what’s wrong with her these days? You’d think that a woman like Blair, who has pulled more scams and cons on people than we can all remember, would be smart enough to spot a creep like Spencer and his motives from a mile away. BUT NO!!! Was it really necessary for her to call Spencer when her Christmas tree fell over? Please…there were probably at least five maintenance men around that building just waiting for an opportunity to do something for the lady in the penthouse apartment, even it was to simply toss out a tree that her kids swear is cursed. And ICK…she kissed Spencer on the mouth for his trouble! Blair, wake up!!! Does it ever occur to Blair that when a world-renowned surgeon like Spencer drops everything to bring her a new tree, he has an ulterior motive? Nope, she doesn’t care…she keeps accepting all his attention willingly and denying that he’s trying to get her up that winding staircase to her bedroom. And if she really thought about it, she would wonder why an intelligent, supposedly sensible person like Spencer would even claim for a minute to doubt Todd’s guilt. Oh yeah, I forgot, he just wants to be Blair’s friend and support Todd…give me a break!

I sure hope that Bo gets to public destroy Spencer one day the way he got to destroy Daniel Coulson. That would make it worth all the time and annoyance we’ve had to endure seeing Spencer Truman on the show.

And now we know that Spencer was involved with Margaret…oh, big surprise…NOT! Obviously, Spencer had something to do with Margaret’s death…probably plotted all this out so that eventually Todd would be taken away from Blair and he’d be able to move in on her.

I had to laugh when Rex found out through talking to Ginger’s mom that her sister Margaret was champion swimmer. Big surprise…I’d say she deserved all those trophies the way she did that back dive off the boat….LOL! And Rex, of course, gets to be the hero again, finding out information when the professionals are chasing their tails.

On to the Vega/McBain lunacy. I was glad that Evangeline couldn’t get Cristian out of jail so easily after the prison break mess was over. It would have been too unrealistic for him to go free automatically. And I don’t know why John even paid Cristian that visit to tell Cristian that Natalie was very upset…that he was backing off from her for now…and that he thinks Cris should do the same thing.  Yeah, John…that’s exactly what Cris is going to do, especially now that you’re backing off. John backing off is exactly what Cris wants him to do so he can have a clear path to Natalie…but Cris is going to have to realize that even though Natalie claims to hate both of them right now, she really loves both of them…and that includes JOHN! That was made clear to Cris when Natalie told him, “I fell in love with the one person who knew the truth about you.”

And I say, GO NATALIE! She really let John have it when they ran into each other at the police station as she was planning to clear out her desk after resigning. I have to say (and I know I’m a hopeless softy) that I did feel bad for John even though he deserved everything she said to him. Natalie really let him have it…and yes, it’s obvious that he is saddened by the situation and feels terrible that Natalie got hurt so badly…even if he was instrumental in causing it. I think John felt it like a physical blow when Natalie said to him, “On second thought, I’m not going to resign. I’m going to be here every day so you can see me and know how much I hate you.” Ouch!!! I felt for John when he said, “I know that I ruined what we had and I have to live with that every day.” Yes, he does.

How shocked do you think Cris was when Natalie came in and told him she wanted a divorce? I’d say pretty shocked since he was so sure that he’d get her back once she calmed down and remembered their love for each other. No way is John out of the picture and the sooner Cris realizes that, the more realistically he can deal with this situation.

And what kind of game is Adriana playing? Now she tells Rex that she wants to try again with Duke…I don’t think so. I hear that there are going to be some steamy scenes coming up between Rex and Adriana, so I guess her resolve is not that strong when it comes to resisting Rex. I wish Adriana would stop playing around with these two guys. Maybe she doesn’t know what she really wants and isn’t consciously playing with them, but whatever she may think, it appears to be a childish little game to me.

Niki Smith continues to entertain me, as much as I want her to disappear for good most of the time. I died laughing when she hired a lawyer and ordered a pizza using Jessica’s cell phone that she stole from her. And what about that lawyer she hired? He was a total riot…good old Vinnie Stokes. It took about five seconds to realize who he reminded me of…Steve Martin as the Wild and Crazy Guy from Saturday Night Live! How did everyone keep a straight face around that guy? And the lines that come out of Niki’s mouth continue to make me laugh…like when she walked into the library, looked around, didn’t see Nash and asked, “Hey, where’s the little old wine maker?”

We needed a scorecard last week to keep track of who was out…Niki or Viki…Tess or Jessica. I have to say that I was glad that Viki came back and I loved the scenes between Viki and Tess. Erika and Bree are incredible together in those scenes and I was especially touched by the scene where Viki realized that Jessica was actually Tess when she was just about four years old. It was the scene where Viki told Tess that she remembered when Jess was a little girl and was jumping on the couch with her shoes on. Viki reminded her that she shouldn’t do that and she said that Jessica stuck out her little chin and said “Sofas aren’t as important as little girls.” It was a very poignant moment when Viki said, “That was you, wasn’t it?” Poor Viki, feeling so responsible for whatever happened to Jessica.

And although it pains me to relive the scenes, we must talk about Nash. OUCH!!! Poor Nash sure took a mean beating, didn’t he? That was painful to watch. I hate those kinds of scenes. It’s very obvious that Nash did some terrible con job on his ex-girlfriend, Claudia, in an effort to get access to her daddy’s money. I guess Nash didn’t ever figure that dear old daddy would come after him with a couple of king-sized goons who would literally pulverize him. Now we know what Nash is up against. He is obviously a changed man since he met Tess, but he’s sure paying for his past deeds.

How convenient that Antonio has Tico’s bazillion dollars and could offer to help Nash out of his financial woes. It was obviously torture for Antonio to have to call Nash for Tess and listen to the way Tess spoke to him. It was obvious to everyone in the room that Tess felt for Nash at least what Jessica feels for Antonio. I can’t blame Antonio for being upset…it had to be hard to hear Tess profess her love for Nash like that.

I was glad that Kelly finally said yes when Kevin proposed marriage to her. Let’s face it, if they’re going to be together and plan to have a baby, why not get married. They love each other and let’s face it…Kevin and Kelly’s engagement opens up a whole new way to infuriate Dorian and there aren’t a lot of things more fun to watch than that.

I loved the scene where Bo went to visit Nora and assured her that Matthew was going to have a good holiday. It’s pretty sad that she hasn’t woken up, but don’t fret all you Nora fans (I am one, too). I hear that Hillary B. Smith has signed a one-year renewal of her contract so I’d imagine that Nora will be popping those eyes open pretty soon.

And in closing…Oh boy…remember when Hugh told Marcie that he was adopted? Well, someone who I consider “in the know” just told me that Hugh is going to turn out to be the son of…hang on…Paige and Spencer. It seems that Paige gave up a child years ago that Spencer didn’t know about. Oh jeez….what a legacy for poor Hugh! He’d be better off if his daddy were Jack the Ripper!!!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Lori writes: “I am sick of everybody assuming Evangeline is so innocent. She wants John Bad. The only thing she wants more is for John to want her and only her. John and Natalie are HOT!”

Dear Lori: I definitely agree with you. Evangeline does want John and who can blame the girl. She never stopped loving him and never claimed that she did. And you’re right, all she ever wanted was for him to love her the way she loved him and want the same things that she did. John could never be what she needed and wanted him to be, but he was never dishonest with her about that. I believe wholeheartedly that when John was with her he gave all he was emotionally able to give. That’s also what he gave Natalie, but Natalie just accepted it unconditionally where Evangeline couldn’t. As emotionally crippled as John may be, I think he lets women know where he’s coming from and if they expect more, it’s on them when they get hurt…not John. Evangeline and Natalie both know that John is messed up when it comes to love…how they deal with it is what makes them different.

Rene writes: “I had a chance to meet Melissa Archer at SSW and I’m am so happy they are keeping her on. I felt it was pretty poor judgment on their part if they would have taken her out right in the middle of a big storyline and replaced her. But, thank goodness that didn’t happen. I also think that Nash is doing great with being a newcomer to the show. I really do believe that Jessica really does need a new love….of course after Tess is gone....probably 2009…lol.”

Dear Rene: I’m happy that Melissa is staying with the show, too. I know some people would have been happy to see the opposite outcome, but I think Melissa is Natalie and does a good job in the role. And yes, Nash is a great addition to the show. Jessica does need a new love…I don’t know how she and Antonio will come out of this mess they’re in, but I think a lot will be determined by who turns out to be that baby’s daddy.

Sharon writes: “I like your favorite line of the week. BUT I have to tell you mine. It was when John and Cristian were trying to get out of the prison. I don't remember exactly what John said but it was something like…"We have one bum leg, a hole in your gut, a gun with no bullets, and our goal is the sewer." I rewound that and watched it several times. John is usually so serious, it took me by surprise.”

Dear Sharon: Yes, John had some funny lines during the prison storyline. I liked the one where Carlo’s men were restraining him and about to beat him up and he said, Come on boys, no dinner and a movie first?” I’d love to just once see John wind up and let out a huge belly laugh, wouldn’t you? He’s way too serious way too much of the time. When he’s in scenes with his brother, Michael, some funny, sarcastic dialog comes out of him, too…and Michael always gets in some good digs on his big brother.

April writes: “I have a gut instinct that Rex is Bo's son. (Please don't ask me who the mother is, okay? LOL!) The reason why I say that is because outside Statesville, where Rex was at, Bo told him to leave because he didn't want anyone else he cared about to get hurt. At that point, Rex was VERY much surprised he said that and Bo did hesitate a little when he made that statement. So that is the reason behind me saying that sooner or later, there will be a storyline about Rex being Bo's son; mark my words!”

Dear April: OK, I will mark your words! I have been watching soaps for too long to say that something is impossible…I’m not that crazy…but it doesn’t look like Rex is Bo’s real son. I think it was more that the two have grown very close over the past year and Bo has taken Rex under his wing like a son. Bo’s statement about not wanting to lose anyone else he cared about was more likely a reference to the people that Bo has lost over the years…his son Drew, his fiancé, Gabrielle and let’s never forget, his dear brother, Ben.
