REFLECTIONS BY JILL….Let’s take a vote. Is anyone as sick of Asa Buchanan as I am? I just sit and shake my head whenever I see his face these days. I am so over his antics. He’s no longer funny…he has no respect for anyone, even his family…and he belongs behind bars. Too bad he’s never going to see the inside of a cell for more than five minutes. Asa calls Carlo a rotten S.O.B….look who’s talking!

I really do love Bo, but these days I want to just take him and shake him for even listening to what his Pa has to say. Asa has a bad word for everyone around him who is not a Buchanan and he never stops to realize that he’s the biggest, most obnoxious oaf of all. Even after he had to admit that he was to blame for Duke and Adriana being abducted, he still had the nerve to criticize Dorian and Adriana. I would have liked to see Kevin throw his Grampa up against the wall instead of Carlo Hesser.

And what about Renee? She infuriates me almost as much as Asa does…maybe even more because she’s supposed to be a decent human being. I couldn’t believe she lied for him at the police station. Asa totally disrespects her at every turn and she takes it and defends him like a meek little girl defending someone she’s afraid of.

I was so mad that Blair decided to make that deal with Asa. He knows how vulnerable she is and that she’d do anything to be sure that Margaret is out of her life. She should have spit in his face and walked away.

Let’s move on to Lindsay. Can someone tell me who this woman is and what she’s done with the real Lindsay? I know she’s trying to cope with the bad hand she’s been dealt, but I was shocked to hear her tell Rex that no matter what has happened, she knows she has to try to forgive Daniel and move on. Hey Linz…of all the people you should try to forgive and move on, Daniel should be last on that list…no wait…he shouldn’t even be on that list. I’d like to see a bit of the old Lindsay trying to find a way to make Daniel even more miserable than he’s going to be for killing poor Jen. Come on Linz…RJ can help you get Daniel tortured in jail…he’s going to be a bad guy again…lol!

Do you think Marcie is just about ready to throw herself off a bridge for ever having the idea to write that Killing Club book? That poor girl. I sure wouldn’t want to be in her shoes, having to admit to people who love and respect me now, the awful things that went through my mind back in high school. Could she feel any worse for what has happened to Natalie and Evangeline?  I felt bad when everyone was coming down on her to remember what she and her friends planned so many years ago and she couldn’t remember.

I thought Natalie and Evangeline were pretty resourceful building that ladder to try and get out of that basement. I was glad they could at least stand each other long enough to try and devise a plan of escape. Too bad it didn’t work. So, who is the killer? I can’t stand the thought that it could be Ron. I hope he’s just another red herring…but people are saying he’s not. We’ll see.

And how about crazy Roxy getting smashed at the Woman of the Year ceremony and grabbing the award again? I remember when she did that at Rae’s ceremony. I guess Roxy is always going to be destined to pick up the award that the winner can’t make it to the stage to accept. It figures that Roxy would also be the one to see Evangeline being carted off by the killer. Boy, is she ever in the right place at the right time? And of course I had to laugh when she called Evangeline “Evangelica.”

I guess we’re not through with Evangeline’s mother yet. She was some piece of work at the ceremony trying to throw Evangeline and Kevin together. Maybe she should hear about how Kevin spent the last year of his marriage to Kelly. Maybe she wouldn’t think he was such a good catch. She sure couldn’t keep her mouth shut when she saw John at the ceremony. What an obnoxious woman!

I guess RJ is going to find the trouble he’s looking for. Who is he kidding telling Jackie McNaughton that the deal he’s looking to get into has to be a one-time thing? Can RJ turn to the dark side just one more time and not be tempted to stay there? I think not.

And what about that wonderful institution, St. Ann’s? Jessica has been there all of one day and Tess has already stolen the sister’s cell phone and keys. Yep, I keep reminding myself what the sister told Jessica…she will be safe and well taken care of at St. Ann’s. That place is the biggest joke in Llanview.

Hey, when was the last time anyone in Llanview knocked on a door or rang a doorbell before barging in? Last week Rex walked into Llanfair claiming that the maid let him in…I wonder. Then Dorian waltzed in to see Viki. Did she knock? I don’t think so. But the best scene was when Dorian marched over to the carriage house, walked right in and found Kevin and Kelly half dressed working their way up the staircase to the bedroom. Oops, surprise! I am almost as tired of Dorian being appalled at Kelly being near Kevin as I am of Asa’s antics.

How transparent was Dorian when she met Spencer and thought he’d be a great catch for Kelly? Dorian couldn’t care less if he were an axe murdered, just as long as his last name isn’t Buchanan.

And I am surprised that Bo is still talking to Paige when she has just committed Lie #2, not telling Bo that David and Spencer are brothers. Has Bo just resigned himself to the fact that every woman on the earth will lie to him so he’d better accept it? Come on Bo…show this one to the door.

Now for my favorite…Viki. She is getting spunkier and spunkier and it’s a delight to watch her. I loved the way she just sat there on the couch smirking, letting Dorian rant and rave about her Cramer girls and the Buchanan boys. Viki totally enjoyed throwing it in Dorian’s face that as much as Dorian pushes Kelly towards Spencer, she just might want Kevin anyway.

And tell me…is everyone in Llanview trying to kill Viki. The woman just came home from the hospital, is recovering from a heart attack and she has to face the likes of Todd, Kevin, Dorian, Natalie’s problems and let’s not forget Rex.

Yes, let’s not forget Rex. His scenes with Viki last week were just fantastic. It never ceases to amaze me how Erika can be thrown into a scene with any actor on the show and she can find a way to make Viki relate to them as if she’s known them all her life. I loved the way Rex opened up to her and admitted that he was jealous when Natalie found her “real” family because no matter what, she is his sister and if he lost her he’d have nothing. You can see how much he respects Viki and he let her know that by telling her that Natalie was lucky to have her for a mom. I got an ache in my heart when he asked Viki if she ever loved and missed someone so much that it felt like there was a rock in her heart. Oh yeah, she knows what that feels like. And how cute was it when Rex told her about how much he loved and missed Jen and said to Viki, “It sucks”…and Viki said, “Yes, it sucks.” That just about says it all, doesn’t it? I wonder if Jen and her uncle Ben were smiling down on that little interaction. It was cute when Rex told Viki she was the enemy for taking his sister, saying, “You and your matching spoons.” No matter what the difference is between someone like Viki and someone like Rex, she can relate to him and she made him feel like she understood. Very cool.

The best line of the day was when Rex told Viki what happened with Natalie because of his stupid plot for her to get John’s attention and Viki fell back on the couch clutching her heart. I died laughing when he said, “You’re not going to flat line here are you, because Kevin will kick my ass.”  Someone is doing a marvelous job of writing Rex’s role and I hope they keep it up. I never dreamed I’d say it, but I have a new soft spot for that bad boy!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

JUDY97 writes: “I just loved the ending of Monday's (6/27) episode when John supposedly jumped into the river with nary a splash. But in the next scene he was soaking wet. I'm sure they could have come up with something that sounded like a splash.”

Dear Judy: Good for you…good catch! I didn’t even pay close enough attention to listen for the splash but I love when people notice ridiculous things like that. I was wondering how he looked so dry just a few minutes later at the police station. And where did he get the dry shirt from? Makes sense…wet suit over a dry shirt…right!

Cordell writes: “You don't like John and Evangeline together. Why? I honestly believe they could be one of daytime's hottest couples. They have issues to work through but what couple doesn't? I appreciate their scenes together, heart breaking but also heart warming and honest. The story of them as a couple could be so interesting. Imagine if John could emerge from his hell with her by his side and attacking his demons from his past with her. That would create such a strong bond. Talk about Soap's hottest hour... I am really interested in reading your comments on my thoughts.”

Dear Cordell: Even though I did not like John and Evangeline together at the beginning, I did acknowledge that their relationship had grown along the way. I always objected to the fact that they always skirted around their issues (John’s fault) with sex and although that’s not a bad way to spend time…lol…it never forced them to face what was wrong in their relationship. It took a while, but Evangeline finally got tired of skirting those issues and realized that John wasn’t going where she wanted to go and I think she did the right thing. I don’t deny that they could be a good couple if John gets his head on straight, but his feelings for Natalie are real…whatever they are…and Evangeline was smart to have enough self respect to walk away before she got hurt even more. The fact that Natalie’s behavior has been so horrible lately and John hasn’t just completely written her off shows me a lot about how confused he is.

Linda writes: “There are lots of references lately to the disasters that have occurred at past years' Woman of the Year ceremonies. I seem to remember something about Nora and Sam's relationship being blurted out during one year, and perhaps something about Blair another year? Please refresh my memory on some of them.”

Dear Linda: Yes, the woman of the Year Award Ceremony is very much like the Quartermaine’s Thanksgiving every year on General Hospital, when something always goes wrong and they wind up eating pizza. I can’t remember all the Woman of the Year incidents, but you’re right about Nora and Sam and Blair. The most recent one I remember was when Rae Cummings was voted Woman of the Year and just before she was to accept the award Keri and Antonio revealed, after searching for information, that Rae was booted out of her psychology courses, never actually got her license, and had been a practicing therapist in Llanview for quite some time, trying to heal the minds of Llanview’s fine citizens. Rae was disgraced in front of everyone and just about everyone in Llanview turned on her. It was pretty awful. Let’s never forget that she let Viki talk her into hypnotizing her to bring out Niki Smith and couldn’t get Niki to go back inside. That was the beginning of the end for Viki and Ben…and the disaster that lead to Ben’s death after Niki messed with his life.
