REFLECTIONS BY JILL….So David finally walked out on Dorian. I sure can’t say I feel sorry for her. She had just about every warning possible without having a building fall on her head regarding the fact that she was totally out of control. I was glad that David finally took a stand and packed his bags. I’m sure Dorian didn’t have a clue that it was even a remote possibility. The sad thing is that while she’s really angry with him for abandoning her and she is so adamant about being on the offensive, she doesn’t even realize that she has really hurt him. Despite the fact that we got a good dose of the funny side of David when he descended on poor Kelly and crashed at the carriage house, the fact remains that Dorian has relegated David to about #5 or #6 on her list of things to care about and she has hurt him more than even he is outwardly admitting. I do have to admit that it was hysterical when Kelly told David he could stay for the night and he started hauling everything he owned into the carriage house. It certainly appears that Kelly won’t get him out of there without a few sticks of dynamite…hmmm…maybe Margaret has some left over…just kidding. I already know that plenty of people have stopped finding Margaret funny.

It’s obvious that Dorian is hurt and also embarrassed that David left her and that’s why she’s employing that old defense mechanism that a good offense is the best defense. She never wants anyone to see that they have hurt her. I’m sure she would have rather died than have Viki standing at the door when Adriana walked out and innocently announced that she heard David had left. Lucky for Dorian that Viki is such a lady and of all the people Dorian thinks she can’t relate to, Viki is one of the few people who understands her more than most and would never throw her misfortunes in her face. Even with more than enough reason to have anything to throw at Dorian, Viki had the class to honestly be sorry for what happened to her because she knows Dorian loves David. I think it’s also pretty smart of Viki not to rub salt in Dorian’s wounds because who knows what Dorian will do next, especially when this is just one more thing she can blame Viki for. Of course, it wasn’t enough for Viki to have to resign from the University…Dorian wasn’t satisfied because she wasn’t fired and publicly tarred and feathered.

I have to say that I feel sorry for Blair. She’s a nervous wreck and who could blame her? It’s too bad she has to keep a baseball bat by the door just in case Margaret has the nerve to drop in. She really did a job on Asa’s mansion, didn’t she? Old Kevin could have gotten his head taken off if her aim was any better with Asa’s knick-knacks. I did take one exception with Kevin last week and I figured that a small part of his nastiness was still hanging around when he called Todd to the mansion to get Blair and he and Todd discussed Asa. I think Todd should have done more than threaten Kevin when he told him that he wanted to hear Asa’s side of the story as it relates to what Asa did to Blair. Come on Kevin, are you kidding? Asa hasn’t paid for the last five crimes he has committed. I think he should pay for this one big time.

Yippee…Todd finally shaved. It was good to see that cute face again that Trevor has been hiding. That beard was certainly a bit too much to get used to, even for Blair who loves him dearly. I’m glad it’s gone.

It was nice to see Todd reminiscing about Mrs. Bigelow. He doesn’t have many people in his life who care about him and that he can trust and it is hard for him to lose one of them, especially Mrs. B, who was so totally devoted to him and was so much like him in the “weird” department. I think Todd is going to encounter Hazel Smalls this week and I can’t wait to see his reaction to seeing a double of his dear, departed Mrs. B. I’d love to see her actually be Mrs. Bigelow, wouldn’t you?

OK, we have to talk about John and Natalie. First of all, I think Natalie and Ron make a nice pair…actually, I’m just thrilled to see Ron back on the canvas because I think he’s a great character. We don’t have enough just plain nice guys. However, I sure don’t want to see him hurt if he gets caught up with being attached to Natalie when it’s obvious he can become the loser when it comes to keeping Natalie’s attention. I was totally surprised that John was so obviously bothered by Natalie going with Ron. You’d think that even if it did bother him, he’d go out of his way to be quiet about it. Of course, he didn’t deliberately destroy the flowers that Ron sent her, but he shocked me when he admitted to Michael that it bothered him to see Natalie with another guy. Sure, she did her best to make him aware of the fact that she was going out with Ron to make him jealous, but he bought it hook, line and sinker. She didn’t have to work that hard to get him riled up. That is what I mean about John playing with Evangeline’s feelings and her deserving better than someone whose feelings are so obviously divided. Where is this all going? John is going to meet Evangeline’s family. How far is he going to go before he lays his cards on the table and faces what’s going on inside him? Actually, both women should write him out of their lives while he decides which way is up. I enjoyed seeing Michael teasing John…maybe that will wake John up a bit.

It was interesting to see Marcie’s agent, Hayes, show up again. At least now I remember his name. Last week I didn’t remember it and I think I called him Bryce…lol…where did I get that? Anyway, his whole shocked act could be just that…an act. Maybe he was just trying to avoid suspicion by hiring himself a bodyguard. Not a bad cover…but are we buying it? And why didn’t Marcie just tell him to take off and get lost? That was some big crowd of people at the University for her book reading, wasn’t it? How many people attended? Three? That was just silly.

I’m glad Jessica finally made it to the psychiatrist. I wasn’t sure she’d go through with it. I was just shaking my head when she told Antonio that she’s had stress before and this has never happened to her. I was glad she finally admitted later on that she blacked out and did strange things back when she lost Megan and was harassing Dorian. I was wondering when the writers were going to remember that since this is not Jessica’s first bout with this kind of problem. This time it’s worse, of course, because she’s doing some very dangerous things, like hanging out in questionable places and sleeping with strange men. I think it’s going to be terrible for her when that all comes out…not to mention what Viki is going to think when she realizes this has been going on under her nose all this time. And were you shocked that Tess told the new girl, Ginger, that she made Jessica marry that bad guy. Honestly, I had no idea that we were to believe that this dual personality of Jessica’s has been going on since before she married Tico. Oh boy!

And what’s with Paige? I couldn’t believe she told Bo about Jessica’s condition and that she was seeing a psychiatrist. That was the most unprofessional thing to do and even though Bo is Jessica’s uncle and is worried about her, Paige had no right to tell him. Maybe Dr. Paige hasn’t seen the latest privacy laws. Someone should send her a copy. I know Jessica wound up not caring that Paige told him, but it was wrong, plain and simple. It doesn’t help me like Paige any better…that’s for sure.

And always, a little levity makes for a fun show. Seeing Roxy and Nigel as a couple is more than funny and too cute. I liked when she was defending Nigel when Todd was looking for Asa and threatened him. I also laughed when Roxy told Bo that they were like family (I guess Natalie’s connection to both of them makes them family….holy cow!). I loved the way Roxy made the family connection telling Bo there was, “ya know, 60 degrees of speculation.” If anyone ever had any confusion over the meaning of “Six Degrees of Separation”, Roxy didn’t make it any easier to understand. She’s such a hoot!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Patty writes: “I may be totally wrong about this, but, could Daniel's secret sweetie be Evangeline???? After all, remember when the FBI agent was found dead in her office. If I remember correctly, Paul Cramer was in the middle of it. As I said I'm probably totally out there with this one but stranger things have come to the surface. Just my thoughts.”

Dear Patty: I couldn’t agree more that anything is possible and just when we think we have things figured out we get thrown a mega-sized curve, but I think it’s a BIIIGGGG stretch to think Daniel’s honey is Evangeline. I’m sure stranger things have happened and if it is Evangeline I’ll have to eat my words, but my imagination just won’t stretch that far. Who knows???

Maggie writes: “This is a question I’ve been meaning to ask for a long time. Why is it that every deranged killer in Llanview; namely, Lindsey, Troy, and Margaret (I may have missed a few) can be committed to and soon after released from St. Ann’s facility while poor Addie who wouldn’t kill a mosquito if it was biting her, never leaves?”

Dear Maggie: Ahhh, the age-old mystery of St. Ann’s. Personally, I’ve always felt that the patients ran that place, except of course for dear, sweet Addie. The problem with St. Ann’s is that the people who run it, a/k/a the doctors, are the ones who should be the residents. Addie is by far saner than any one of them who has released maniacs onto the streets of Llanview countless times. I suppose the definition of soap opera mental institutions is, “a place to go where you can get away with murder.” And by the way, I would love to see Lindsay’s reaction to being referred to as a deranged killer. Now that would be a delicious scene.

Joan writes:I was wondering if you knew how far ahead the writers see/think. I know part of it has to do with whether and for how long a particular actor will stay with the show. But, for instance, when they first introduced the Daniel character, did they know he would turn into a nice guy and then back into a snake? When Paul Cramer was killed, did the writers know that Daniel did it?”

Dear Joan: Great questions! I know that sometimes TPTB do know how long an actor will stay with the show. For instance, when David Fumero agreed to return as Cristian, the writers knew that he was going to stay for four months and no longer so I would assume that they planned out Cristian’s return and short stay in Llanview from the beginning of David’s return. However, sometimes it works out that an actor is hired for a short-term role and is so well received by the audience that he or she is offered a contract and a storyline is developed for them. A typical situation would be where a thug-type actor is hired to play a bad guy and he hits it off with a “good girl” on the show and it turns into a great love story and a major super couple. In the case of Daniel, I’m not sure what the thinking was. He has taken a couple of sharp turns and who knows if this last one is his last turn in Llanview. I don’t think his course was set from the beginning. As far as Paul’s murder, there were so many suspects that I think the writers could have taken it in any direction. Many times if an actor is leaving the show, you can be sure that they are the killer, but even that isn’t true this time…as in the case of Jen, where Jessica Morris is leaving the show and Jen is not the killer….or at least not for now.
