REFLECTIONS BY JILL….Oohhh Asa…you dirty old coot! The old man is back in rare form, isn’t he? When I think about it, I have to say, why wouldn’t someone like Asa own his own mental institution or have an entire staff of doctors and nurses at his disposal? After all the enemies he’s made in his life, he probably figures you never know when you’re going to want to put one of them in a padded cell and annoy them for a while. Although I do feel terrible that poor Blair, who has been through quite enough already, is locked up and for now has no way to let her family know she’s alive, I had to laugh and look at it from old Asa’s point of view for a minute…LOL. I did more than chuckle when he told Blair, “You left me to die of a heat attack on the floor. You hit me over the head with one of my own candlesticks. You and Manning tied me to a tree in the woods and left me to die.” I guess we can’t dispute any of that, can we? Not that Asa didn’t deserve some of it…but my guess is that he’d better have his fun while he can because with Todd onto his game, he’s going to be toast as far as I can see.

One bit of advice I’d give to Blair. Stop telling your story to the doctors and nurses because when you go into the real-life details of what really happened to you and Todd at the hands of crazy Margaret, nobody is every going to think there is a sane bone in your body. Telling that story makes you sound like you belong exactly where they have you.

OK…by a show of hands…how many people think Evangeline would pull each and every hair out of her head, one strand at a time, if she knew that she had slept right through John’s entire speech when he poured out his heart (as much as John is able to) and ALMOST, ALMOST said the “L” word? Oh boy…that girl would kick herself right out of Llantano County. I have to admit, I was surprised to hear even that much come out of John’s mouth…and out of his heart.

And now John is locked in that room at the police station with Natalie. Roxy doesn’t give up, does she? One thing about Roxy…she has never learned the meaning of the word “subtle” has she? They better never let her loose in a china shop. And talk about returning to yet another old theme…does anyone remember when Sophia and Joey were locked in that very same room? The only difference was that I think Sophia was responsible for doing the deed herself. I can’t wait to see what happens and how long they are stuck in that room.

Hey, Dorian finally has a real kitchen. Amazing! Too bad neither she nor David can cook. At least the beautiful kitchen at Llanfair serves a good purpose. Viki can cook and so could one of her former husbands…hmmm….now what was that guy’s name?

OK, back to Dorian. How great is it to see the character of David evolve into the person he is today? I never thought he’d turn into the con man with a heart…but here he is. And how much do we love that he is the voice of reason where Dorian is concerned. I loved it when he told her that it wasn’t attractive to always play the victim and that he thought she might just be going too far in her quest to destroy Saint Viki. I am getting very tired of Dorian playing the victim myself. Is there anything wrong with her life that Viki is not responsible for? I thought it was very powerful when David told her that it was time to call off the war…that it’s not worthy of her…and that it won’t make her happy in the end. Well, if Dorian thought about what he said for a moment, it didn’t last longer than that when her eyes lit up at the thought of Viki being investigated at the University for misappropriation of funds.

With not only David, but now Adriana, trying to get Dorian to see the error of her ways, will Dorian ever give up the fight? Of course not, because deep down, Dorian feels inferior to Viki and her way will always be to mask her jealousy of Viki’s life by trying to tear her down. It’s pretty sad when you think about it. It was a very telling moment when Adriana asked Dorian why she couldn’t forgive Viki for everything she thinks she’s done if she could forgive her for not raising her all those years. Did Dorian actually believe that Adriana wasn’t harboring any bad feelings about all the years she didn’t know her own mother?

On to Daniel. I have only one thing to say and that is…Daniel, You Are A PIG! I’d say it takes a pretty awful and morally deficient man to frame the woman his son loves for a murder he committed…and then to be smug enough to carry on his everyday life, doing his so-called job and marrying a woman he knows he’ll be bringing down with him. He’s just disgusting. I feel cheated that I came to like him and then had to revert back to my original opinion of him. Sometimes we soap fans know best and should take first impressions as gospel.

And I guess we have to talk about The Killing Club. No, I haven’t read it yet, but I’m not sure how much I like another round of murders on One Life To Live especially when it will make Marcie feel responsible having written the book. I’d like to see poor Marcie smile for at least one straight week. Is that too much to ask? She takes everything on her shoulders as it is and this has the potential to do her in since Hudson and Julie dying is only the beginning.

I continue to dislike and sometimes like the Jessica/Tess storyline…and I continue to admire the job Bree is doing with it. On one hand, Tess is fun to watch. Bree does a wonderful job with the dialogue and the body language, making Tess nothing like Jessica. On the other hand, it is totally frustrating to me that Jessica and Antonio can’t be together after all the garbage they’ve been through and you just know that Tess is going to mess with Antonio getting custody of Jamie. That part really annoys me. Hey, when did Jessica take self-defense training…she sure knows how to land a good blow and bring a guy to his knees, doesn’t she?

And finally, someone is worrying about Viki. It was nice to see Kelly take a few moments to ask Viki how she’s holding up with everything that’s going on, especially since her heart transplant. Isn’t it just like Viki to answer that actually, her heart is fine…she has Ben’s heart and it helps her to get through everything. Boy that heart must be made out of cast iron. It has been reported that the love interest that was planned for Viki has been put on hold. People are speculating that they’re waiting for her to get through Jessica’s mess…some people think they’re waiting until after the summer until Erika Slezak has had her annual long vacation from the show…and some people think that they just can’t find the right man to do Viki justice at this point in time. I’ll throw in my two cents and say that I’d bet anything that they haven’t been able to find the right man. After all…and you know what I’m going to say…Ben is a hard act to follow. I’ll go one step further and say that he’s probably an impossible act to follow. Think what you may…that’s my take on the situation.

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Melissa writes: “I want to put something out on the table for those John/Natalie fans...are we forgetting John knows the truth about Christian. Let me also add who (John) kept telling Natalie "watch out for him, he may not be Christian.” Now that DNA proved Christian is really Christian, how can John have a relationship with Natalie, doesn't she deserve to know the truth and who will tell her? Ohh…the drama.”

Dear Melissa: I’m sure none of the fans have forgotten that John knows the true identity of “the imposter.” I definitely think it would be a wonderfully refreshing thing if John told Natalie the truth right away since we all know that keeping the secret will come back to bite him in the butt down the line. As it stands now, he’s already known for long enough to cause him a big problem when she finds out. If John and Natalie are going to have a relationship down the line…and who knows how big an “IF” that is…I’d love to see some honestly up front for a change.

Bonnie writes:I just have to say how I can't stand Bo and Paige - that woman can't act her way out of a paper sack. I really do want Bo and Nora back together - they are my favorite couple. This business with RJ trying to get custody of Jamie is another thing I don't like. I hope Evangeline really lets him have it when they have their day in court. I, too, will be glad when Todd does something to his hair and beard. That is about the ugliest beard I ever saw.”

Dear Bonnie: I can’t say I disagree with anything you’ve said. I can’t stand Paige either. I won’t say that Kimberlin Brown can’t act. She had great success in the role of insane Sheila for years on The Young and the Restless, but it doesn’t seem like Paige has much of a personality, if any, and maybe the writers want her to have that hard, starchy exterior…I don’t know. All I know is that the character is a snooze, is not worthy of a man like Bo, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Paige has something up her sleeve that we don’t have a clue about at this point. I, too, can’t wait to see Evangeline try to destroy RJ in court. He deserves it and he’s too smug thinking his criminal past won’t matter when it comes to Jamie’s custody.

Normapj writes: “When do you think the writers will give Todd a razor and have that horrible, horrible, ugly beard removed? He looks deranged.”

Dear Normapj: He looks deranged? You mean he looks like Todd? LOL…kidding! Yes he does look deranged and it’s my guess that the point is for him to appear not to care about what he looks like and only concentrate on finding Blair. I’d think the last thing on his mind would be what he looks like, even if it annoys the heck out of all of us. Trevor has too cute a mug to hide under that Grizzly Adams mop on his face. Hopefully as soon as he finds Blair he’ll find himself again, too, under all that hair.

Pblue writes: My favorite OLTL character is David Vickers, who is the only one,
aside from Roxy and maybe Nigel, whom the writers seen to give witty lines
to these days. Speaking of David, I think the writers are wrongheaded to look outside the show for a romantic interest for Viki when one is staring them in the face: David, of course!  Couldn't Dorian's obsessive vindictiveness drive David into Viki's arms? He wouldn't even have to sacrifice his gigolo ways. What fun a Viki-David-Dorian triangle would be!”

Dear Pblue: OH MY LORD…if there were ever a David/Dorian/Viki triangle, I’d need oxygen to bring me back to life after I died laughing. What an idea. Somehow I don’t see that ever happening, since even though Viki does seem to have a newfound respect for the man David is trying to be, she’d never be able to forget why she hated him in the first place. But thanks, the idea is delicious! Do you think Dorian would let Viki live long enough to enjoy the first kiss? It takes my mind back a bit and makes me wonder how hysterical it would have been if Dorian tried to go after Ben. Gives a whole new meaning to “parallel universe” doesn’t it?
