REFLECTIONS BY JILL….Well, Hallelujah…two things finally happened that we’ve all been waiting for. The truth about baby Ace is out to everyone who matters and we finally saw who actually pulled Tico’s plug.

Let’s start with Ace. I was getting so sick of everyone wondering and asking Kelly why she would have knowledge of Ace’s whereabouts and not try to get him back. How stupid was it that she kept telling people they just didn’t understand and that she was doing the right thing for Ace? Now we’re going to have a battle between the Buchanans and the Chandlers of Pine Valley. Oh yippee! By a show of hands, tell me who cares? No hands up here. I haven’t watched All My Children in a very long time, but I am told that J.R. Chandler is about as mean and rotten as them come…but why should I care? There is going to be a huge battle between these two families for that baby and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out what kind of ammunition Asa and Kevin think they have. They don’t even have their family behind them. Kevin keeps saying that he has legal custody of Ace. Hasn’t he stopped to realize yet that having a paper that says you have custody of a baby that was stolen from its real mother is about as useful a piece of paper as the kind that hangs in his bathroom? I can’t get revved up for this storyline when I don’t see how the Buchanans have a leg to stand on. Why does Asa think Ace was raised as a Buchanan when the kid is not even a year old? I mean, come on, Asa hasn’t even put a rifle in Ace’s hands yet…he can’t be considered a Buchanan?

What was extremely hysterical was that family meeting that the Buchanans held. I died laughing when Nigel was taking attendance at the 763rd Buchanan Family Meeting. Could anything be funnier than hearing the real names of some of those Bukes? Nothing was funnier than Matthew saying to Bo, “That’s your real name?”…when Nigel called him Beaufort Ogelthorpe Buchanan. Your parents have to have a really sick sense of humor to give you a name like that. I hope that no one named Beaufort Ogelthorpe writes to me saying I insulted their name…please.

And I did have to laugh when Matthew reminded Asa that he was a Rappaport and Asa almost choked on that reminder. I think Matthew can only be an asset to that family…he calls them as he sees them, especially when he calls Asa on the carpet for cussing. And doesn’t Asa make perfect sense when he tries to teach Matthew that “Cussin’ is good business, boy.”

OK…on to Tico. It’s really too bad that we got to see that the guy who pulled Tico’s plug was Cristian. I was hoping it would be someone else, but that’s not happening. I did find out the other night that David Fumero is definitely leaving the show, so I guess it does make sense. A friend sent me a quote from Dena Higley where she said that David was never planning to stay more than 4 months this time around. She said that it would be very emotion for Natalie when this happens, but she will not revert to the same kind of behavior this time as she did when she lost Cristian the first time. Thank Goodness! Dena also said that this will lead to a new storyline for Natalie, John and Evangeline…can’t imagine what will be next for those three.

I got so much mail from fans that are upset over the demise of Mrs. Bigelow that there were too many to print, so I will report that collectively, everyone is furious that she’s gone. I’m getting ready to see the end of the Margaret/Todd love fest and obviously Blair is onto Margaret…she will just be involved in finding out how to figure out where Margaret is holding Todd. No matter what, the storyline continues to make me laugh and to make my eyes pop wide open. Margaret’s face is downright terrifying…especially those insane eyes (no offense to Tara Signor, the actress…lol)…and who didn’t crack up laughing when she tried all those costumes to get Todd to “rise to the occasion?” I laughed at the nurse’s costume…I laughed harder at the French maid outfit, but I nearly fell off the couch when she came out in the dominatrix get-up. I wonder how those actors managed to keep straight faces and how many times they had to do the scene to get it right. To me it looked like Trevor St. John was going to crack up several times…and who could blame him?

By the way…why did Todd drink that coffee Margaret gave him? I guess he has to eat and drink something, but I’d be a bit more careful if I were him…wouldn’t you?

I was surprised last week that in the fiasco that has become of the John/Natalie/Evangeline triangle, Natalie was the voice of reason. That’s right…she’s just trying to make sense of her marriage and help her husband and despite the fact that she does have feelings for John, she’s the one being the adult here. Even though he is worried about Natalie, John is way over the edge in trying to interfere with her marriage and Evangeline is letting herself become the whining girlfriend when she really should be above that. She should just walk away until John gets his feelings straight and behaves like an adult having adult relationships. Evangeline has bared way too much of herself (emotionally) to a man that she knows is not giving her back what she needs. They just go in circles and although I was glad that she finally realized that the way to solve their problems is not in the bedroom, I think she then went over the line when she complained about him not wanting to share information with her at the police station. It’s really none of her business what goes on in his office until he gives her information relevant to Antonio’s situation regarding Tico’s murder. She was very annoying when she implied that he wasn’t sharing things with her…she was letting the personal aspect of their relationship flow over the line into the professional.

I enjoyed the scenes between Natalie and Viki where Natalie opened up and told her how worried she was about Cristian hiding things from her. It was good that Viki was able to relate to her how much she worried when Ben kept things from her when he was just trying to protect her and that she loved him so much that she had to accept that he had to do that. I like the fact that Viki is honest with her and doesn’t just tell he what she wants to hear…and I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say how happy it makes me to hear all of these references to Ben. It’s realistic that Viki would talk about him and remember and I love hearing it when she does.

And the rivalry between Viki and Dorian is really heating up deliciously, isn’t it? I think the writing for these two women is great…it’s crisp and biting and the writers are really right on target as far as getting these two women to go for each other’s jugular. Dorian is obviously having a hard time living down the fact that she messed up in her plan to hook Viki up with Mark since he’s a gay man, but Dorian couldn’t let it die quietly. She had to keep it alive when she said to Viki, “Well, It’s not the first time you’ve robbed the cradle. Are you forgetting your beloved Ben?” What a stupid shot that was, but it was the greatest opening for Viki and I cheered like crazy when she said, “Ben was a MAN who didn’t have to prove his love for me by using stupid, vengeful scams like your David has to.” GO VIKI! That one sure put Dorian in her place. And did you notice David’s face? I think he really likes Viki and doesn’t think she’s too far off the mark, but he values his life so he’d never say that to Dorian…especially when Dorian says things like, “I must vanquish Viki!? Dorian kills me.

Speaking of Viki…I cheered for her a lot last week…especially when she flipped off the governor like he was dirt under her shoe…which, of course, he is. She was incredible when he took her arm and said he was confused because he thought they once had feelings for each other…Bahahahahaha Gov! You sure are confused…and pitiful! She looked down at his hand holding her arm like it was some kind of hideous disease and my favorite line of the week was hers when she told him to take his hand off her arm and that he was unethical personally and politically and that she had no desire to have anything to do with him. Nobody can lay a person flat on the ground with one sentence like Viki can. What a creep that guy is…especially when he went and told Dorian that Viki made a play for him and he was no longer interested in her. Oh boy, that guy needs his plug pulled, too.

Does it seem to you that Michael and Marcie have a better relationship now that they have “taken a break” from each other? It seems that way to me. It’s nice that he keeps reminding her that although they are not really together it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t still love and care about her. Marcie’s agent, Hayes, continues to infuriate me…he’s slimy and I wonder how long Michael will be able to refrain from taking a pop at him.

And now Michael will become the prime suspect in Tico’s death since he’s the only one besides John who uses the latex gloves that were found in Tico’s room. Oh, give me a break. Let’s get this over with and not even have to see Tico’s face in flashbacks any more or hear his name. Is it Michael…is it Cristian…is it Jessica? Let’s move on already!

I have to give credit to our new Head Writer for a good job so far. I think the writing is better, the funny stuff is funnier, and it appears that Dena Higley is getting a good grip on who the characters in Llanview really are. We’re also seeing more of the core characters, which is always a great thing. So far, thumbs up…may it continue for a long, long time.

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

KelPresgrav writes: “I agree…I love David. Dorian and David are the best. Will David and Dorian get married, or will there be a Dorian, David, and Kelly triangle? I hope David and Dorian get married. Why does Dorian keep putting David off and are they going to address this?”

Dear KelPresgrav: I don’t know anything about a Dorian, David, Kelly triangle…that doesn’t seem to me like it’s going to happen now. It seems more like Kelly and Kevin might try to find their way back to each other and that’s just my speculation…and I haven’t decided if I’d like that to happen or not since I don’t think Kevin deserves anyone these days. Regarding David and Dorian’s marriage, spoilers these days are saying that something is going to come up from David’s past that will prevent them from getting married. I heard something about David having a brother who is not the most savory guy. I also don’t think that Dorian is too unhappy that they haven’t actually tied the knot yet. She has the best of both worlds…what’s hers remains hers and she still has David as her companion. I don’t think she totally trusts him…with good reason…and since she knows she’s always pulling a scam, why should she trust him?

Helen writes: I also will miss Mrs. Bigelow. Maybe they will dream up a twin sister for her to reap revenge. She was an excellent actress and character. Lately I have been watching only for Mrs. Bigelow, Nigel, Roxie and Starr. So much for my tastes. Also while we are on the subject of actors, I think the actor who plays Kevin would be a perfect look-alike for Scott Peterson when ABC casts the Amber Frey story.”

Dear Helen: You have great taste in characters…it’s just a shame that the ones you and most of us love best are not on nearly enough for us to enjoy them. I am laughing at your suggestion of Dan Gauthier to play Scott Peterson in the movie version of that horrendous story. I have to agree…Dan would make a great Scott Peterson…I wonder what he’d think.

Judy writes: “The other day Bo was looking at Gabrielle’s picture. I forgot but how did she die?”

Dear Judy: Unfortunately, Gabrielle was going through a bad time when she was hanging out in a bar outside of Llanview and met up with Dr. Troy MacIver who was sneaking out of Statesville Prison at the time and killing people. Poor Gabrielle was one of his murder victims last year on New Year’s Eve…I believe it was at the Palace Hotel where he abducted her in the hallway.

Dennis writes: “My name is Dennis and I live in Las Vegas. I have a few comments on One Life to Live. First of all, John McBain is really working my nerves. I am sooooo sick of turning the television on and listening to him apologize. He needs to get over himself. I really wish the writers would quit dragging the storyline with Natalie/John/Cristian/Evangeline. IT IS BORING. Antonio and Jessica are becoming just as drawn out. Let's get some excitement going. Do you think that Antonio will grow his hair back out. I hope so. The crew cut has got to go!!! I see that Sonia's picture is still in the opening. Is she coming back to cause trouble after Jessica and Antonio get back together?”

Dear Dennis: I love Las Vegas…been there many times…soooo much fun! I can understand why John is working your nerves. It does seem like he is apologizing way too much and after a while I have to question whether or not he really means it, or if he just does it to keep the peace so that he doesn’t have to deal with what’s really going on. I’d love to see some excitement between Jessica and Antonio, too. I hate that Jessica is always a victim. I don’t know a thing about the plans for Antonio’s hair…lol. I prefer it longer and can live without the crew cut, too. I wonder, too, why Sonia still appears in the credits when I don’t see Tico, but I don’t believe there are any plans to bring her back and personally, that doesn’t bother me one little bit. Thanks for writing.
