REFLECTIONS BY JILL….Kudos to Dorian this week! I love her more and more every week and it has everything to do with her campaign to ruin Kevin.  I’m glad that she finally saw the benefit of going to Todd when she wanted dirty work done right. As good as she can be in the dirty dealing business, Todd is so much better.  Good for him for getting that call girl’s testimony on tape…and Big Applause to Dorian for using the oldest ploy in the soap opera book…good old-fashioned blackmail.  It works every time.

Personally, I think she should have gotten Kelly a lot more time with Ace, but I hope her fun is just beginning.  Once she gets wind of what Tico and Kevin are up to she won’t be able to contain her joy.  And is it just me, or did Kevin just forget to worry about the fact that there could be copies of that tape?  Surely Dorian and David have copies and I know it would break Kelly’s visitation deal, but I still wish Dorian would give that tape to the press anyway…at a very opportune time, of course…just as Kevin is about to accept the position of Lieutenant Governor again.

And how disgusting was Kevin when Kelly came for her first visit with Ace?  I can’t believe he had the nerve to tell her it wasn’t a good time and she couldn’t see Ace.  Why am I surprised?  And then when he timed the hour visit right down to the second and didn’t even let Kelly say good-bye to the baby…I wanted David to just break his nose.  Good for David, by the way, reminding Kevin that if he didn’t stay in line regarding Kelly’s visit he would call Dorian.  How stupid of Kevin not to realize he wouldn’t get away with being a disgusting creep.

I couldn’t believe it…it’s not enough that I have to be sickened by Tico and Kevin sharing so many scenes now…but when I saw that creepy Dawes guy the other day I nearly choked.  Wasn’t he obnoxious enough the first time around?  Obviously he’s still involved in dirty dealings with the governor and Tico just makes it so much cozier.  What kind of idiot has Kevin become?  Will the aliens ever bring back the real Kevin?

Was anyone as happy as I was when Antonio got his hands around Tico’s throat last week?  For the second time since we’ve known Antonio, I was hoping that his temper would go just a step further and he’d put us out of our misery and say adios to Tico once and for all.  Of course the other time I excused Antonio’s temper was when he went after Mitch Laurence and beat him to a pulp.  You know, I am a very non-violent person…I think the Santis are bad for my personal well-being…lol…they make me cheer for their violent departure and I don’t feel a bit guilty about it either.

Happy me…Happy me…Natalie is finally giving Paul the boot.  Geesh, it’s about time, Natalie.  You could really tell that Paul loves her…NOT!…especially when he realized she wasn’t going to stay with him and he immediately switched gears and started threatening her for money again.  What a guy!  And did you notice when he went to Kevin for money he didn’t only get a fierce NO from Kevin, but he got a threat from Kevin that if he spilled the beans about where Ace came from, the money would be the least of his problems?  Whoa…now Kevin is threatening peoples’ lives…he’s sure adjusting well to having a mobster for a new buddy, isn’t he?

I think we’re starting to see a new, mature relationship between John and Natalie that is blossoming from a sincere friendship.  I like it and hope to see a lot more!

I was really enjoying the new Todd and Blair lately, but this storyline about them taking Asa’s house is a real snooze.  It’s pretty stupid, even for the writers of One Life To Live.  Honestly, there are tons of houses in Llanview that are nicer than Asa’s.  His mansion is very overrated in my opinion and I think it’s about time Todd stopped trying to go after Kevin…Kevin is going to self-destruct without any more help from Todd’s antics.  Blair is right…it’s time to grow up and move on.  Of course, Todd just can’t do that, can he?  And did you notice that Todd keeps calling Asa’s house “My Mansion?”  Ahem, Todd…it’s Blair’s mansion, technically.  I’m sure the day will come when she reminds him of that teeny, tiny fact.

I did laugh at Blair rolling Asa up in that rug after she knocked him out and worried that she had killed him?  Boy, she sure likes that room for knocking out her men.  And do you think they used the same rug to wrap up Asa that they used when Kelly and David wrapped up and disposed of Paul in the landfill?  How about some originality?

I thought it was very nice to see Uncle Bo in scenes with both of his nieces, Natalie and Jessica.  In Viki’s absence it’s good to see that there is still a voice of reason that they can go to.  His compassion and understanding for Natalie was really nice to see and it was good for her to see that she has good people around her who love and support her.  She’s forgotten that for too long.

And Jessica…what can I say about Jessica?  Uncle Bo doesn’t stand a chance when it comes to reasoning with her when she is so blind to what’s going on around her.  And why does she sometimes call him Uncle Bo and sometimes call him Bo?  Just one of those continuity problems we seem to have, huh?  I sure don’t blame her for telling Antonio that if he walks away this time it’s over.  She has put way more into that relationship than he has and no matter what he’s going through, he’s being selfish in pushing her away.  He forgets that she is not only a part of his family, but she’s like a mother to his child.  I know he’s going through a lot right now, but his intensity is just over the top and too annoying to make me care about his situation.  I’m just sorry that Jessica is too blind and too upset to listen to the one thing Antonio says that makes sense…STAY AWAY FROM TICO!  We all know she’s not going to do that.  Somebody, please, find the smart stick and shove it in Jessica’s hand…fast!

And Tico…we can’t let a week go by without complaining about him.  I figure that since he’s so much a part of the show, I’d have nothing to say if I didn’t talk about him.  Gee, big surprise that he blamed his mother’s death on Antonio and had the butler lie and say he witnessed the whole thing.  How predictable…How Tico!  I sure hope John busts him before someone bumps him off.  I’d rather see him in shackles than dead.  Killing off a mobster is so cliché.

David and Kelly…hmmm…now that is an interesting development, isn’t it?  There’s definitely some chemistry there and since David became a “nice guy” he has become quite irresistible.  I think Dorian may be sorry she didn’t marry him and take him off the market.  And I wonder how devoted she’ll be to “her girls”…especially Kelly…when she finds out there just might be something brewing between her and David.

So, we’re finally going to meet Marcie’s dad and her brother, Eric.  That should be interesting.  I hope something worth watching happens there.  I think it’s been a long, dry stretch for Marcie and Michael.  That romance seems to be going nowhere and I don’t know what can revive it at this point.  I don’t think it has a lot to do with Marston’s absence because of his injury.  I think something happened to these two characters when Al became Michael and if Michael and Marcie are going to last, something has to be done to really strengthen the connection and make me pull for them again.

In closing I just have to say that if the powers that be think it’s not bothering the fans that we’ve seen virtually nothing of Roxy lately, they are sorely mistaken.  Her absence from recent shows is like a big, black hole.  How much are we supposed to take of Tico’s sinister behavior, Antonio’s temper, Paul and Rex’s scheming before we deserve a good laugh once in a while?  It’s pretty obvious that no one has been able to write a decent romance in ages…but someone on that writing staff does have a knack for writing good comedy.  It’s too bad that the big wigs don’t realize that they have eliminated a major source of lightness and joy from the show!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Patty writes: “I got totally bored last Thursday when all OLTL had to offer was the Santi dilemma. What a bore! I really am ready for a new storyline…don't care with whom or what, just get rid of those Santi's!!!!!”

Dear Patty:  Boy, I couldn’t agree with you more. You got bored with them last Thursday…I get bored with them every single day. The sight of Tico’s face always makes me groan…and not with pleasure!

Helen writes: “ Jill I was surprised that you did not mention Evangeline in the wrap up of the Ace trial. I admit I was stunned. Did the writers really want me to feel sorry that she lost her first case when knowing that Ace was illegally gotten she as an officer of the courts had willingly committed a fraud? Wow I guess she is a liar inside and outside of the court. I can't wait until this baby storyline is over.  No one in Llanview thinks kidnapping is wrong.”

Dear Helen:  I think if Evangeline had lost that case fair and square then nobody would feel sorry for her, but she was so obviously cheated out of that win.  Of course, she did finally find out the truth about where Ace came from, but on soaps I don’t think there is every a truly fair and just trial and Evangeline does believe that Kelly got the baby from a homeless mother. She doesn’t know that Paul stole the baby from a willing mother. I agree, the whole thing smells really foul, but I was much more disturbed by Tico paying off the judge and even though Kevin didn’t know it at the time, he very willingly accepted it when he found out that a mobster got him custody of his son.  I’m with you…the baby storyline can’t be over soon enough for me either.

Joan writes:  “I was just wondering if anyone else thinks Scott Peterson looks an awful lot like Tico Santi? Every time I surf past CNN or Court TV and see an update of the trial and his picture is there, I do a double take and think, what's Tico doing in the courtroom?  It's a very striking resemblance.”

Dear Joan:  That’s really funny. I never thought about Tico resembling Scott Peterson. I’ve seen more of Scott Peterson on my television screen than I’d like to and now that you have me thinking of Tico when I see Scott Peterson, I will be turning off the trial coverage more often. As much as his personality turns my stomach, I think Tico is a much better-looking guy.
