REFLECTIONS BY JILL….I have to admit I was looking forward to "Search and Destroy" night at Ultra Violet, but aside from Marcie's wonderful performance and Roxy and Nigel's imitation of Sonny and Cher, I was a bit disappointed.  I was hoping for more talent and thought we would get more of a show out of it.  Roxy and Nigel were hysterical.  I especially loved the way Nigel got into the act.  For someone who objected so much at first, he sure had a good time...lol.  And Marcie...what can I say?  That young woman has the greatest voice I've heard in a long time, bar none.  It seems so effortless the way she just belts out a tune.  Janis Joplin would have been proud of Marcie's version of Take Another Little Piece of My Heart.  Now, what really annoyed me was not only did we have to endure the horrible voice of Richie J murdering that old Air Supply song, but I was waiting for everyone to boo him off the stage.  Instead, we had to hear him singing in the background during about three scenes.  Why did they let him sing the entire song?  Geez, give me a break.  All I could hear was his whining on stage instead of the actors in the scene.  He got way too much airtime if you ask me.  They should have had Kassie DePaiva in that episode and have her sing...or even Catherine Hickland.  That would have been fun to watch.  Even Viki singing "I Will Survive" would have been more tolerable.

How sick are we of Carlotta?  I used to love this character and now they only use her to act as a shrew, yelling at Adrianna every chance she gets.  Not that I am so crazy about River, but hasn't Carlotta learned anything about jumping to conclusions about her family's mates?  I guess she's feeling justified since she must feel that she was right about Keri all along.  She sure gave Keri a hard time when she first hooked up with Antonio and she's probably sorry she finally accepted Keri into her family.  Hey, the way Keri is behaving, who could blame her?

Is everyone interested in Natalie being a pool shark?  I, for one, am not.  I think the only funny thing about it is that it's the one trait she inherited from her mother.  I'd like to see her challenge Viki to a game or two...now that would be fun to watch.  I wonder if Natalie and Cristian's wedding will really take place this fall.  Some people are already saying it won't happen.  I just don't see the sparks between these two.

As a matter of fact, I don't see sparks at all on OLTL these days...but I haven't in a long time.  I think I'll renew my age-old complaint right now.  Where is the romance?  The only sparks I see are between Antonio and Jessica and as much as I like these two together, I am always waiting for Antonio to lose his temper and Jess to try and calm him down.  As for Bo and Gabrielle...forget it.  I hear she's leaving for sure (can anyone confirm this?) and I was always waiting for her to turn back into the bad girl and lose Bo anyway.  I guess with Al's upcoming death she will be drawn more to Max and they'll probably leave the show together.  We could have had some fun with Roxy and Max, but of course, James DePaiva has been let go just when he was becoming likable again.  I can't figure these things out.    Al and Marcie's relationship is wonderful, but they won't get a chance to have a great romance...that figures, too.  I haven't found anything of interest yet in the Flash/Riley relationship, except that I like the way she stands up to his father when he goes off on Riley.  So who is left?  Oh, I know...

Kevin and Kelly.  Now here's a match made in heaven.  Kevin seems to show interest in Kelly the same way he does everyone else...when she appears to be beneficial to his career.  He didn't even flinch when Kelly told him she could become pregnant and Dorian said she had to be careful with her health.  Most young women wouldn't have to worry about that, but I guess Kevin isn't worried.  A child will be good for his image.  I read that he's supposed to use the Banner to expose corruption in politics.  Maybe then we'll finally see the old good side of Kevin...that's if the opposition lets him live long enough.

Is there hope for Blair and Todd to be a romantic duo...who knows?  Maybe miracles do happen.  I like the chemistry between Kassie and Trevor.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when I'd miss the romantic couples saying to each other, "No one will ever come between us"....or "As long as we're together nothing can hurt us."  I would love to see one couple on the show now that care enough about each other to even think those thoughts, let along voice them.

OK...on to Todd...or Walker....or whoever.  I loved the scene where he told Starr he was her dad.  I totally believe that he is Todd.  Some people are already saying it's a hoax.  We know that the real Walker Laurence is in Atlantic City and he's not well.  I am anxious to see this storyline play out and whereas I did not care for this storyline at the beginning, I think Trevor is doing a great job and he has become very appealing.  There's a normalcy to him that our old Todd didn't have...lol...it's refreshing.

Jen...what can I say?  I give her marriage to Joey about another month.  This girl, in my opinion, will never be the minister's wife.  Here is yet another couple with no chemistry and no chance for undying love.

Oh, and Rex...you have sunk to an all time low.  I can't wait to see Lindsay's reaction when she realizes that Rex has passed her off as a call girl.  He is such slime and it's ridiculous that Jen and he have so much in common...but they do.

Poor, poor Marcie.  This girl can't catch a break.  I sure hope Al gets to take care of Deke before he meets his own demise...but I doubt it.  What happened to Marcie is just horrible and what's going to happen to Al is just a shame.  I hate the turns this storyline is taking.

As always, I miss Viki now that Erika is on her annual month-long vacation.  I heard they did some pre-taping so we should get a snippet of Viki once in a while over the next month...but as usual, she is sorely missed not matter what her storyline is.

OK OLTL...I am waiting for you to give me a reason to stop griping so much every week.  I hope we have a kinder, gentler fall and winter with maybe a bit of romance ahead.  If we're going to get more intrigue, I hope it keeps me awake more than the Badra diamond storyline is doing.  I think that wacky necklace should wind up with Roxy...she would probably think it's some kind of costume jewelry off the rack at K-Mart.  I'd love to see a bunch of thugs chasing her around to get it without her even knowing what she's got.

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Sunflower7463 writes: "What do u think about Rex and Lindsay trying to get Jen and Joey divorced?  Does Rex really want Jen back...oh and is Marcie really leaving the show? I thought Al was leaving."

Dear Sunflower7463:  As far as the Rex/Lindsay relationship goes, I just don't get it at all, except that Lindsay is obviously very lost.  She has had her life turned upside down and I think with her insecurities, anyone who shows her a little attention can manipulate her.  I feel sorry for her.  She's been through enough.  I think in his own sick way, Rex does want Jen back.  These two are very compatible in their immaturity as I see it.  No, Marcie is not leaving the show.  At first everyone thought she would leave because of her role on Broadway, but she is staying as far as I know.  Unfortunately, yes, Al is leaving...it's too bad.

Robbie writes: "Since OLTL is killing off/firing/"letting go" most of the major male characters (Todd, Ben, Al, Max, Troy...etc), what are the plans for the show?  An all female soap opera? Count me out."

Dear Robbie:  I have no idea what the plans for the show are, but I totally agree with you.  All of the best male characters have been "done away with" and replaced with a much sorrier bunch, in my opinion.  And you can count me out of an all female soap opera, too.  The show needs some really good strong, romantic leads because we do have several really capable female actresses who need some good strong men to have good storylines with...like Viki, Dorian, Rae (too bad she can't have Hank).  Of course, Viki needs Ben...have I mentioned that before?  LOL!!!!

Rose writes: "I just read your commentary and I have to agree with you on everything.   I like the way Sherry Saum is now...with backbone and truly RJ's daughter.  I never did like the Keri and Antonia pairing.  No sparks.  I like the Marcie and AL pairing a great deal.  A real true-life story.  I have watched OLTL almost everyday, since the beginning and I am about to quit.  They had such good pairings going on and the powers to be have truly destroyed them.   I think it is almost time to move on."

Dear Rose:  I did like Keri and Antonio together before their lives got totally mangled and although Sherry Saum is doing a wonderful job as "bad Keri", I hate the way they are having her character exit the show.  I can understand your discontent with the show and since you are an original viewer you know better than anyone how things have gone downhill.  It's unfortunate for the show that a lot of fans feel exactly the way you do...they are tired of the good storylines going down the drain and sick of the nonsense taking center stage.  I can only hope TPTB realize what they're doing before more and more people like yourself stop watching.
