REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

It was an interesting week in Llanview.  I have to say that I did get a few laughs and I was frustrated about several things as well.

I’m not sure whether this was a laugh or a frustration….but when is the poor Llanview Police Department going to get a break?  These guys can’t seem to get anything right.  I don’t understand how a smart guy like Bo can’t get a noose around the neck of a creep like Mitch Laurence.  I mean, it took a bunch of kids to bring down the “big drug dealer” in town.  Thank goodness Marcie joined the Police Department…lol.  You know I love Bo dearly.  I just wish he could get more respect for the Llanview P.D.

And speaking of Mitch…I’m hoping his demise is not far off.  He is teetering on the edge these days and he is creeping me out.  What he did with Jessica’s picture…scratching the eyes out…that was more than creepy.  Have I said this before?  Mitch has to go.  Natalie has the right idea about catching him and scratching his eyes out.  I know…let’s get Natalie and Marcie to hunt Mitch down and administer the punishment.  Now there’s a pair of tough chicks.

Natalie really is a pretty good little super sleuth.  I love the way she eavesdrops on RJ and has figured out that Keri and the baby are alive.  She has a real dilemma because at this point she’s past the time in her life where she’s out to hurt her sister Jessica, but at the same time she knows it’s wrong to keep the secret from Antonio who loved Keri so much and never got a chance to know his daughter.  I really like the pairing of Antonio and Jessica, but a see a really good love triangle in the making here so whatever happens, if it’s well written, it will be interesting to watch.

Oh…and about Marcie…who the heck is Gabrielle to feel that she had another type of girl in mind for her precious son, Al?  Of course he has turned his life around…but wasn’t he the guy who almost burned down Jen’s house and faked paralysis so she’d stay with him.  What nerve…as if she’s the perfect picture of class and decency to be deserving of someone like Bo…Hah!!!  After all the stuff her son has pulled in his young life, she should be grateful a decent girl like Marcie gives a hoot about him.

What is with Renee and Nigel?  They seem to be having one heck of a good time at old Asa’s expense.  I laughed so hard when Roxie gave Asa the right song to sing and it didn’t work.  Nigel and Renee are a great pair.

As far as funny goes…Roxie takes the cake.  I died laughing when she said to Asa, “You have to sign a promiscuity note.”  I love the way she mangles the English language.  I only wish we could bring back Harry the Hook and have the two of them pair up to butcher the language together.  Now that would be a riot.

Would someone please smack Jen Rappaport?  She is just the most obnoxious girl around.  Her dad would be really proud of the way she’s pushing herself on Joey (NOT!!!)…how obvious could she be bending down in front of Joey and flashing at him.  (No pun intended, Flash…lol.)  In all honestly, I can’t blame it all on her.  Joey doesn’t exactly seem uninterested, which I don’t understand.  He needs to mean what he says to Jen and not lead her to believe she has a chance.

I’d love to see Viki as president of the University.  She’d do a great job and maybe now she’ll have the clout to get her kids to finally finish school.  Hasn’t Jessie been trying to finish college for about 10 years now?  Enough of her life getting in the way…let’s get the girl a degree and a career already.

Does Walker seem like a much too bland character for you to care about?  He is for me.  He’s like a piece of plain white bread.  (Sorry to all of those who love white bread.)  He doesn’t do anything for me.

I like Riley…he’s obviously crazy about Flash.  Maybe she should give him a chance.  I’m not sure about the pairing of Flash with Joey…somehow they just don’t fit…but I do like Riley.

And now, of course, a word about Ben.  I was very upset when Asa went to Viki and told her he had seen Ben and Ben didn’t look too good.  When Asa said that he didn’t think Ben was coming back to them I had an instant intake of breath because it appeared to present the opportunity for the writers to begin the process of “letting Ben go.”  I am still holding out all hope that they find a replacement for Ben and don’t kill him off.  After all, when polled, 80% of the audience voted to replace Ben and not send him on to greener pastures.  I was very touched by Viki’s response when she explained that she talked to him often because she needs to talk to him and she just can’t let him go.  In my opinion, no one can every replace in Viki’s heart what Ben gave to her life, but a well-considered replacement could give her back some of that romantic, playful spark she found only with Ben.

Hey, thanks to all of you who gave me such a warm welcome back to the website…and I appreciate everyone filling me in on what I had missed.  At least it doesn’t sound like I missed too much.

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Janice writes: “Did Ty get fired for real or was that just a hoax? If he really did get fired, what was it for?  I can't seem to find anything on the whys of his termination.”

Dear Janice:  Lots of people have written me about this and yes, Ty was let go for real (he has announced it) and I don’t know the real reason.  Like everyone else, I can only guess that after his break-up with Nora he didn’t have any real ties to anyone in Llanview (my opinion) and they just didn’t know where to fit him in.  I don’t believe he had a real shot with Lindsay, even though lots of people saw them as a real couple.  Lindsay is too “out of it” and what Troy did to her was horrible, even if she did deserve to get some of her own medicine.  I’m sorry Ty is leaving also.  If I get any more concrete information, I’ll surely post it.

Debra writes: “Give me more of Nigel, Renee and  Asa.  Give me more of Vicki and Dorian. Give me more of Rae, Hank and RJ. Give me more of Al and Marcie - this is a real couple.  I'm so over Jen.  I didn't like her when she didn't have a clue and I dislike her more now.  I'm still holding my opinion of Flash but right now it isn't favorable.  I was so happy to hear Roscoe Born was coming back but the writers have made him so creepy!  His character could go today and I wouldn't miss him.  Wished the writers hadn't ruined Sam's integrity.  Sam was a great guy and lived his life and raised his kids with morals.  Hope Laurence Lau lands in Pine Valley.”

Dear Debra:  It sure does look like we agree on lots of things…especially about Mitch.  I think it would be interesting if Larry Lau wound up back in Pine Valley, but I don’t watch All My Children.  Maybe I’d have to tune in.

Catherine writes: “Wasn't David Selby also on "Another World?"  Where did you read that David Selby is coming to OLTL?  Rae did give Asa the divorce.  I don't think that she took anything from him.  The show didn't explain how Rae got her license back; it's weird.  Mitch got his sight back by falling into a river--yeah right!!!  That is really stupid.”

Dear Catherine:  I don’t know if David Selby was on Another World.  I did watch that show for several years, but I guess it wasn’t the years David was part of the show.  I read about him possibly coming to OLTL on one of the many websites that publishes spoilers and rumors.  It could be a rumor and sometimes the spoilers don’t turn out to be true either…so I guess we’ll see soon enough.

Sharon writes: “I love Ben Davidson, too, but it doesn't look like he's coming back. I have been waiting and hoping Mark Derwin would return, because I would rather see him gone than have anyone else play that role!  If Viki has to lose Ben, at least I hope they get her and Clint back together. I love Clint and he's always been good with Viki!  If Ben dies, I'll cry for weeks!!!!!”

Dear Sharon:  No, it sure doesn’t look like he’s coming back.  I can’t agree that without Mark there shouldn’t be a Ben.  If they could find the right actor to fit with Erika, I would much rather see the relationship of Ben and Viki continue.  It was the warmest and most fun relationship she’s had, in my opinion, and I don’t think she should lose that.  She’s lost enough in her life already and been through too much, especially what she’s been through lately with Mitch.  I think Clint and Viki will always be good old friends and I do like Clint’s relationship with his kids, but I don’t want to see him back with Viki.  And, yes, if Ben dies, I’ll cry for weeks right along with you…or maybe for months!!!!!!!
