REFLECTIONS BY JILL….
I want to thank everyone out there who reads this column for the wonderful responses we get every week. We have been getting so much e-mail and most weeks I only get to answer a few of them, so one in a while, like this week, I am going to dedicate this column to all the wonderful notes I get, the great comments on the show and everyone else’s ideas…besides mine. So, following is what you, the readers, have to say.
STEPHNI0720 writes: “Will Todd and Blair get back together? I just love them together, and that Starr, you can't help but love the little brat. She needs to get a Youngest Actor award (she's good).”
Dear Stephni0720: Somehow I think that nothing will keep Todd and Blair apart for long. It’s obvious that he dearly loves his children, even though he doesn’t have a clue about being a good parent…and it’s also obvious to me that no matter what horrible things he’s done, Blair still gets that look in her eyes whenever he’s around. As sick as it may be, I think these two will be connected for a long time. In my opinion, Blair is normal enough to find someone else, but Todd…no way. And as far as Starr goes, she is the best and definitely does deserve that award. I adore her.
Susan writes: “I remember Cassie Callison (Dorian's daughter) killing someone and Dorian took the rap. I thought it was Mitch Lawrence? How did Mitch "supposedly" die? And did Cassie kill someone and Dorian take the blame?”
Dear Susan: Although I didn’t watch the show religiously back in the Mitch Lawrence days, I was under the impression that Dorian did kill him. I will have to do some research into this…and we will all have to learn together watching this evil mall weave his web. He creeps me out.
LionessQueen252writes: “What a week! Lindsay torturing Troy, Jen and all that stuff, Rex and Jessica?!? Eww!!!! How disgusting! They used to be brother and sister, to Jessica at least. Rex did look kinda sexy(blush) when he was beingall devious before, but now he's just sick. PLEASE TELL ME YOU AGREE!”
Dear LionessQueen252: YES, I TOTALLY AGREE! I haven’t liked Rex in any capacity since he set foot on the show…as a friend, a brother, nothing. He’s a little weasel and I hope Viki gets in his way before he gets into Jessica’s bankbook any more than he already has. I can’t even believe he’s still living at Llanfair unless Viki has just had too much on her mind to devote time to Rex’s schemes…or maybe the place is just too darned big and Viki hasn’t found him yet…lol!
Penny writes: “Erin Torpey and David Fumero were a couple off the show. With Erin leaving the show and heading for California, where does that leave David? Are they no longer a couple or is he leaving, too? Also, in all this drama with Natalie and Jessica.....why are Kevin and Joey nowhere in sight. Kevin was mentioned a week or so ago, to Viki's reaction that he would be the last one on earth to be there. And finally, why did they replace the original Seth? I thought he played the part so well....but the current Seth, I don't care for. He plays the part too stiff, you know he is playing a part!”
Dear Penny: I have heard several times of Erin and David breaking up and getting back together. I thought they were now separated again, but I can’t be sure. I don’t think he’s leaving so maybe they are split up at this point. When it comes to the Buchanan boys, I have begged in this article dozens of times for them to be brought back. I recently heard that Joey will soon be back, but I’m not sure who will play the character. In my opinion, we need Joey and Kevin back…but nobody listens to me. Regarding Seth, I don’t think either one was very impressive, but I did like the first one, too.
Linda Walker writes: “Jill - I've been a fan of One Life To Live for many, many years. The current storyline with Jen/Al/Cristian, though, is sickening. Cristian is a nice guy, who deserves so much better than this witch that Jen has turned into. So, will she end up with Al, who is just as bad in my opinion? I can't imagine Cristian being stuck for life with her....and will Hank EVER have a relationship with a woman? I mean the chemistry between he and Rae is awesome, and I'd love to see something happen, but why does it have to be when she is married?!?”
Dear Linda: I couldn’t agree more about Jenn/Cris/Al. At first I was happy that Jen got a bit of a backbone, but she’s gone over the edge with enjoying doling out misery. I hear the baby won’t survive, so I doubt she will have a relationship with Al. What do you think? And I, too, love the relationship between Rae and Hank…let’s let Asa out of that 49th wedding commitment (lol) and get at least one romantic couple on our show.
Lunkalou writes: “When will you be updating your views on OLTL? I still get your article from OLTL on October 14th and have been looking forward to an update. How often do you write because I so enjoy reading it. I know that you must be busy and have lots of other things taking up your time so if its just once a month that’s fine but I would appreciate your letting me know when I can read the next article. Maybe I have the wrong link so if you can send me the right one I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading and keep up the good work.”
Dear Lynn: Thanks so much for you kind words. I’m glad you enjoy the articles. About 95% of the time, there is a new article posted every Monday morning. Once in a while we have Web problems, or server problems, or whatever and things get posted late…and once in a while I’m a day late or so when life intervenes….so check the About.com OLTL site every week and you should find something new to read. Thanks again.
Nycazsportsfan writes: “I am glad to see Viki is back. I'm sad, though, that Ben isn't with her. I'm also happy that Viki is finally learning the truth about Jessica and Natalie. Even though Roxy broke the law, I hope she doesn't go to jail. I can't wait to see wait what Viki finds out from Allison at the psycho ward!”
Dear Nycazsportsfan: Hey, nobody is sadder than I am that Ben isn’t with Viki. There’s this big open space where Ben used to be on the screen next to Viki and it saddens me all the time. I agree, I don’t want Roxy in jail…she’s too hysterical on the outside annoying everybody, especially Maximillion. I can’t wait to see what Asa has cooked up for her and how she handles him…it should be a riot. Can you picture Asa going a couple of rounds with Roxy?
Wdratliff writes: “Do you think Mitch Laurence is the father of both Jessica and Natalie or somehow just Natalie's father? After all Mitch was successful in bringing out Niki back then, and Dorian didn't kill him until late summer/early fall of 1986, I think. And why would he go to all that trouble to brainwash Allison into stealing Natalie and bringing back Jessica? Just for the sake of revenge? I think there is a whole lot more to this. I just hope that Clint is at least still Jessica's biological father.”
Dear Wdratliff: I think there’s a whole lot more to this story, too, and no, I don’t think Mitch is the father of Jessica and Natalie. That would be just too disgusting, wouldn’t it? I know some people are wondering if Mitch could at least be Natalie’s father by Niki and I think that’s a pretty icky scenario, too. I hope Viki and Clint are the parents of both girls and that Mitch’s dirty work was in something else.
Karen writes: “Glad to see your column back. I too am among the huge Bo & Nora fanbase who has been waiting patiently for their reunion. You say Nora needs to get a life -- we think so too. Except she had one with Bo until she was used to prop Sam and now the useless Troy. Nora has been isolated and made irrelevant by her latest boy toy. The character has been falling for years now and we fervently hope Josh Griffith and Michael Malone will make restoring Nora and the Bo/Nora union a top priority. I would think you of all people would understand our pain with your constant blubbering about Ben & Viki. Bo & Nora brought real romance to the show and it's been sadly lacking since they parted. And it's so much worse for us since both actors and characters are still with the show and still we are subjected to the current mismatches. So are you really lamenting the lack of romance on OLTL or are you just crying over the fact that Derwin has moved on?”
Dear Karen: I have to say that your argument was very well stated and I never really thought about the fact that it’s got to be very hard with Hillary and Bob both still on the show. You have to be wondering every time they get a scene together if that will lead to something great for them. I will say this. If the new writers can turn Nora around and make her what she used to be, I would be in favor of a Bo/Nora reunion, because I am really lamenting the lack of romance, even though I cry for Derwin all the time. I have also always loved the character of Nora…until Colin/Troy came around. I wish you luck in your crusade to reunite Bo and Nora.
I hope you all enjoyed reading some of the mail and seeing what everyone thinks…do you agree?
Since Karen gave me the chance to throw in the name “Derwin” (thanks Karen), I have to say that “Life With Bonnie” is going strong. All I can say is that Mark Derwin is getting a chance to spread his wings…he’s funny, has good chemistry with Bonnie Hunt, and is getting a decent amount of airtime…I like it more every week.
