REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

So…we got some big news this week…new writers are headed for One Life To Live!

Michael Malone and Josh Griffith will be returning to One Life To Live as head writers. They were the creators of such characters as Nora, Todd, Luna, Patrick, David Vickers, Blair and many more. I haven’t heard yet when their new material will appear on the show…but I look forward to it. I’m not sure how much change we’ll see as long as Gary Tomlin continues to wear the Executive Producer’s hat, but as always, I’m willing to give changes a chance.

Still no clue as to who will be returning to town with Viki…guess we’ll find out shortly. I’d like it to be Dorian, but who knows…and I don’t want a replacement Dorian, either.

Were you all as happy as I was to see Toddy wash up on shore safely?  Boy, he sure was lucky. I hear he has no memories. Now will this be his devious way of slithering his way back into his family…or will he really have no memories? I love it that now Blair is having feelings for Sam and Todd will have to contend with that. I have just begun to feel a bit more comfortable with the Blair/Sam relationship, so it will be interesting to see what happens when Todd rears his “lovely” head. Maybe Nora can discover him and lock him away in a monastery somewhere for a year or two.

Finally, Antonio and Liz face to face. So the questions begin. Will Liz tell him that she wasn’t already pregnant when they slept together? Will they conspire to keep the truth from Keri (bad idea)? When RJ learns the whole truth, will there be anyplace left for Antonio to hide? This is the most sordid, convoluted soap story I’ve seen in a long time. RJ still being in love with Liz makes it even creepier. What a mess! Have you warmed up to the character of Liz yet? I’m still not sure I like her…still reserving judgment.

So, which did you think was dumber…Bo professing his feelings for Gabby on the bullhorn or Asa doing it with his big old ranchman hands at the Palace Restaurant to embarrass Bo? Hard to answer that one, isn’t it? They were both pretty stupid, but I think Asa wins the prize because he’s standing there yelling about his son hooking up with a tramp like Gabrielle…a “floozy” I think was the word he used…when…wasn’t it about a year ago when Asa himself sought out and married that floozy? Whew, those Buchanan men give me a headache…well, all except for one.

Our dear, sweet, Lindsay was back in rare form this week.  I guess she just can’t handle the fact that her little Jen is a chip off the old block.  It’s hysterical how she even blames Nora for what Jen has become.  I guess she thinks if she hadn’t gone to prison for those few months, then her whole life of dirty dealing would have had no affect on her daughter.  If Lindsay weren’t so blind, she’d be proud…but she’d also give Jen some tips on how to cover her butt a little bit better.  This might be a good lesson for Lindsay…she is going to be able to see herself step by step in her daughter.  A little regret for what she’s taught her children would be nice, but I don’t see it forthcoming.   I’m also anxious to see how Will plays into all this when he returns to town?  Will he be the voice of reason for his sister and his mother?

And how long is Lindsay going to torment Troy with this Joanna knowledge she has? I am kind of enjoying that….I must say. Troy is ok, but he’s hiding the truth and I want to know what it is…so Lindsay can do her thing…let’s get the story out in the open.

Kudos to Melissa Archer. I felt that her portrayal of a distraught Natalie was so well done…very realistic and very touching. This poor girl never gets a break. I do have to say…not smart letting Jess find Seth sleeping in your bed, Nat. I couldn’t really blame Jess for her reaction and finally the relationship with Seth is where it belongs….gone. That one never really took flight for me except for the very beginning…then it didn’t really work at all.

Does Rex give anyone the creeps besides me? I find him to be one spooky kid and I wouldn’t put anything past him. He’s weird and I think he could do anything to protect his gravy train…his sister, Jessica.

The laugh of the week…Rae and Hank. I love these two and hope they get together soon…even if it does cost old Asa a few hundred grand in wine bottles. Asa needs to find a better place to lock up his enemies…or just a cheaper one, I suppose. TPTB screwed up with Rae and John Sykes…let’s not see them do it again.

And finally, Week #3 of Life With Bonnie has come and gone and I have to say that I really like this show. Bonnie and the kids are very funny and Mark Derwin is being used more on that little sitcom than he has been as Ben in two years. Bonnie is smart…what a concept. And the show has been picked up for another 9 episodes…which mean…FULL SEASON! Congrats to all at LWB!

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Nancy writes: “I wish someone would tell the writers how much we love Nigel. Please, give him more of a story role.”

Dear Nancy:  I adore Nigel and I do so agree with you. He needs a nice woman…maybe someone with a bit of a crazy edge. He’s adorable and funny and very underused.

Mike writes: “Jill, hi this is Mike from Houston TX, I wanted to comment on OLTL. I think it’s the best soap on the air. I hope that OLTL never comes to an end. I love Viki and hope that they bring back Niki soon! Jill I wanted to ask do you know why actress Erika Slezak takes her summer long vacation at the same time each year? Did you say that Tina Roberts is coming back?”

Dear Mike:  I also hope that OLTL never comes to an end and I hope we all get to see what we really want one of these days. As far as Erika vacations every year, it has always been my understanding that she gets 8 weeks off every year and the month-long vacation in August usually ties into some time spent with her children when they’re off from school and the family can travel. If course, the children are grown now and I guess Erika enjoys that time off with her husband. Who can blame her?

JW writes: “Why are Hank and R.J. always falling in love with white or Latino women? Nora, Rae, Carlotta, Tea, and now Liz. Can't the producers hire two black actress to play opposite them?”

Dear JW:  I’m so glad you brought up this question. No one ever wrote me about this topic and I think it definitely bears discussion. There is obviously a great shortage of black actors on most shows and our show could surely use more reality when it comes to racial situations. As a matter of fact, they could start by using a lot more of the talent they have. Tim Stickney is a wonderful actor and I’m glad he’s getting more airtime these days. The same goes for Nathan Purdee. This should happen more often.
