REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

Well, lots of interesting spoilers are circulating on the Internet for this week. Ben might even be getting a clue about Niki…but could that possibly happen so soon? KIDDING…this week, Ben is supposed to find “Viki” talking to the air. Is that unusual for the citizens of Llanview? Do you think he might start to figure things out? I mean it does take more than that dastardly word “stress” to make people start yelling and arguing with themselves out loud. Come on Ben…you may be the one laid up in the bed with the head injury, but your wife is the one whose head needs the attention. OH, and watch out if she brings you anything to eat or drink…you may lose a few pounds following my suggestion, but you just might live longer. AND….HOLD THE PRESSES…next week Bo actually figures out that Viki is Niki. Where does Cristian fit into all of this? After all, he has done all the legwork in figuring out this ridiculous mystery. Maybe we’ll gain another Vega on the police force. I do love Bo, but he’s way too laid back in this storyline. He should have pegged Niki way back when she planted that big smooch on him. After all, her plan has taken so may silly twists and turns in the past several months that everyone should have figured her out by now. She’s like the Energizer Bunny on speed and nobody finds it strange.

OK…here’s a great one to look forward to. Lindsay has broken out of jail. She’s gleefully driving down the road in her getaway car when she takes her eyes off the road for a second and hits…Guess Who???….that’s right…NORA!!!! Could Lindsay’s luck get any worse?  If it weren’t for bad luck, she wouldn’t have any at all. I can’t wait to hear the exchange between these two. Lindsay will probably be blaming Nora for thwarting yet another one of her plans to find happiness in her life, and I can imagine Nora just being terrified to be out in the open with Lindsay, knowing how much Lindsay hates her and, at this point, how little Lindsay has to lose. If I were Nora, I’d be terrified, too. I read that Lindsay’s conscience will get the better of her and she’ll attempt to save Nora, but she’s not the one who does.  Is there a doctor in the house?

Does anyone see Blair and Sam actually getting together? Somehow I am starting to see something in Blair and my guess is that she’s going to fall for Sam. After all, when has she done so much for someone and gotten nothing out of it for herself? When you think of Blair, the word “selfless” never comes to mind. I still don’t see these two together, but I guess anybody could fall for a nice guy like Sam.  I’m thinking they need to bring on someone totally new that would suit him better than anyone on the show. I’m getting tired of waiting for Nora to come to her senses and at this point, she won’t deserve Sam in my lifetime.

Here we go…BIG BAD AL….This guy is so much more than stupid. Is anyone getting the feeling that all the crazy people are walking the streets of Llanview and the sane ones live in St. Ann’s? When I think of all the nuts in Llanview living “normal” lives, I wonder why Addie is in St. Ann’s…don’t you? This week Al sets fire to Jen’s room thinking she’s not there and plants Natalie’s keys to make it look like she set the fire. Now you’ve gone to far, Al. Arson is a major crime, ya big, dumb, thug. What is wrong with this guy? If his love for Jen could do this to him, he is in sad shape. Wait until he finds out that Jen was not out when he set the fire…oops!

Yes, there are spoilers about Todd and Tea…they grow closer…Todd makes some kind of gesture to her. I have one question. Who cares? The entire Hawaiian shoot was a total waste as far as I’m concerned. What did we see? Rae’s life was ruined and it all happened indoors in a little shack that could have been in the studio in New York. Thugs tried to kidnap Jack and Starr in a hotel room that also could have been anywhere. Yes, the beach shots are beautiful, but worth going to Hawaii? I don’t think so. We have lots of beaches in the northeast…maybe they don’t have the clearest, bluest water like Hawaii does, but we only got a half a second of Antonio and Keri in the ocean anyway.

I don’t really care what Todd has to say to his little crab friend and I really don’t care what he has to say to Tea. I have never seen the chemistry there (don’t shoot me) and this shouldn’t be about Todd and Tea anyway. Before this fiasco, Todd was madly in love with Blair and his kids…well, as madly in love as Todd knows how to be. I can’t decide what’s more boring…the scenes “somewhere in the South Pacific” or Shawna and the Llanview University idiots.

Asa is still not letting up on Rae…big surprise. He has no one to pick on this month since he finally loves his son Ben…lol. Rae really ought to turn the tables on him and put his life story on the front page of The Sun. After all, she’s not a real therapist so doesn’t that throw the old confidentiality oath out the window. She really should remind Asa about that.

Speaking of Asa…how funny was it when he came to Llanfair and wanted to see Ben. I died laughing when he told Niki he would go up and just sit with him while he was sleeping. Can you imagine Ben waking up to find Big Daddy sitting there staring at him? Talk about waking nightmares. No, actually, I have waited a long time to see Asa and Ben forge some kind of relationship. I just fear at this point that with Mark Derwin leaving for now to do “Life With Bonnie” that many things I hoped to see for Ben will not happen. Don’t get me started…I feel a big Ben/Viki rant somewhere in my near future.

Here’s a cute spoiler, “Starr questions Blair’s motives for pursuing Troy.” Blair, hasn’t anyone ever taught you anything about dating etiquette? A mother never goes after her daughter’s boyfriend…that’s not very nice. Blair better watch out…Starr does have a room full of nasty reptiles…you never know how much she might want to share them if her mom continues to try and share her Dr. Troy.

And here comes trouble…Antonio find something suspicious at the prison escape site. Could it be something that would tie RJ to Lindsay’s escape? Gee, that would just do wonders for Antonio and Keri’s relationship.

Well, it looks like this week could be very interesting…fire, car accident, Niki trying to kill Ben again (will someone smack her, please?). I hope we’re getting a little closer to some sensible, decent storylines…we so desperately need them.

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Alexis writes:Hey Jill, I've been watching One Life to Live for about 10 months now and I love it I cant stop watching it but since Viki had her alter ego "Niki Smith" come back I have just been so angry at the writers I can't stand watching her, how she tries to act like Viki all the time and what the deal with Jessica? She doesn’t have the slightest idea that her mom isn’t Viki, and come on now Natalie barely knows her and even she knows something's wrong with her and even at the hospital Viki saying "is he dead is he dead" come on now give me a break.”

Dear Alexis:  Gee, for someone who has only been watching for 10 months, you sure have a handle on what’s going on. I guess it’s true what they say…you can watch a soap for a short period of time and fall right into the storyline. Niki’s behavior is definitely over the top.  She’s more than obvious and it really could have been written better in my opinion because too many people who know about Viki’s past are being made to look stupid.

Clamarmom writes: “Why did Rene, Asa, and Sam leave Ben's bedside to go to Gretel's (Rae's) dinner?”

Dear Clamarmom:  Good question. Well, we know why Asa went to the dinner. He couldn’t wait to destroy Rae and he had to do it in person. Even Renee questioned him at the dinner about why he was so eager to get all dressed up to be there. I supposed Renee decided to go to the dinner because she, with Viki, was on the committee that voted for Rae to win the award so with Viki absent, Renee probably felt she should be there. As far as Sam goes…who knows why he wasn’t at the hospital? I can’t think of a good reason for him to be taking Blair to the dinner and then Starr in her place….I guess it was all the writers could think of to get Blair and Troy alone.

Mayra writes:I love OLTL. I work so I have to record it all week.  On weekends, while I'm doing laundry, I catch up on a week's worth.  I loved the July 4th episode. It made me choke up because right now, I'm also in the "Love stinks" stage. Most of the time I do enjoy the Viki/Niki story. I loved it when she was singing "It's Raining Men" during the live week. I love it when Niki complains about how boring Vicki is. Niki says things straight up and I think it's funny. I'm also one of the people that think that there is no romance. Nora and Troy are boring. I can't stand Jen with Christian. I'd like to see Blair and Sam back together. Bo and Gabrielle have some chemistry also.”

Dear Mayra:  Back when Niki was in her “It’s Raining Men” stage, I was getting quite a kick out of her, too. She was a lot funnier then.  Now she’s mostly just mean and trying to kill Ben has not endeared her to me at all.  I still can’t really believe that she went so far as to push him out the window. As far as the romance goes…I agree…Nora and Troy are a big “thumbs down”….so are Jen and Cris….and I’m still not getting behind Blair and Sam, but I do like Gabby and Bo.
