REFLECTIONS BY JILL….

Well, I never thought I’d see the day.  The Powers That Be have finally taken one young actor and given him a brain and a mission. I do believe that Cristian is well on his way to discovering the truth about Niki, and it is being very well played out. Cristian is the only one who has known Viki for such a long time and is realizing, albeit with help from Natalie and all her problems, that Viki is behaving totally out of character and just might be somehow involved in what happened to Ben…and when he finally asked Jessica how she knew for sure where her mother was when Ben fell out the window, I was cheering for him. How can he piece together the puzzle that no one else seems to be able to piece together? I thought Bo was getting a clue the other day when he asked Viki where she was when Ben fell out the window…but Bo needs to put his head together with Cris’. Niki’s cover is falling apart and if she is relying on people like Roxanne to give her a legitimate alibi, then she should be in jail in about 5 minutes.

I sure did feel sorry for Natalie last week. Not only does this poor girl have to deal with a mother who is trying to gaslight her into thinking she’s a murderer, but she has to put up with Jessica and all of her accusations. Hooray for Seth, Cris and Rex all going against Jessica in her belief that Natalie tried to kill Ben. And then Natalie has Jen to contend with. Although I do understand Jen’s anger over being left out in the cold as far as Natalie’s secret goes, her behavior is still very silly. Physically challenging Natalie, blocking her from leaving a room and starting a fight is something a 16-year old would do. Every time I see Jen she reminds me more of her mother…and I know Jen doesn’t want to be like Lindsay.  And please, I know Natalie was responsible for blackmailing Al into her scheme to get Seth back several months ago, but he went into that pretty willingly. Now Natalie has to deal with Al, the big buffoon, accusing her of trying to break up Jen and Cris. Excuse me Al…who is the one who went home and changed his entire outfit before he stopped by Jen’s house?

Come to think of it, I felt sorry for several people on the show last week. I felt sorry for poor Chad. He just can’t get a break from paying for his dirty deeds.  Although he did kind of go from being Chad the Cad who would do anything for a buck, to Chad the sort of geek who doesn’t even know how to talk to girls, I’m trying to give him a chance. I think he has potential. Unfortunately for him, he’s having trouble convincing Emily of that. And Sam should have gotten one thing straight before he mouthed off at the coffee house about Chad taking advantage of Blair. Blair did have a few too many that night, removed her own clothes, and climbed all over Chad. LOL…what’s a young, healthy guy to do?

I sure did feel sorry for Lindsay when those lights went out in the laundry room the other day. I cringe at the thought of what will be left of her when Tillie is done with her. Doing laundry for 28 years might not look so bad to her in a few minutes.

I felt sorry for Starr, who feels she never gets to hang around for “the good stuff.” Smart of Sam to drag her out of that “Woman of the Year” dinner. She had heard plenty by that time anyway. And I felt sorry for that poor counter person at the coffee house who Starr was stalking because her latte wasn’t prepared the right way. I don’t think I’d want Starr mad at me….would you?

Even though what Rae did was terribly wrong, I did feel sorry for her when she was sitting at the dinner all alone, no one to turn to and completely lost. I guess she deserved what she got from all the people who confided their deepest secrets to her, but I was so happy when Renee came over and spoke to her. Renee…what a great woman she is. She sure has been where Rae is now and had such empathy for her for that reason. It was kind of her to tell Rae that everyone has done things in their life that they regret and that she can be comforted by the fact that it will never feel as bad as it does right now. I love Renee…such a stand-up friend.

OK…you know I felt the worst last week for Roxy. I know she’s a trashy chick and that she tricked Max into the marriage…I know, I know…but come on…she has feelings, too, and Max hurt her so badly when he made those horrible comments to RJ about her makeover. Hey, poor Roxy can’t help it if she doesn’t realize she looked like Martha, the Vandellas, Petula Clark and all of the Supremes wrapped up in one. I felt so bad when she went to take the makeup back. She really should have started with the dress, then the hair, then the pistachio toenail polish. I love her…can’t help it…unless she kills someone I love, I’ll stand behind her. And Max hasn’t been this bearable to watch in years. She gets all the credit.

Have I said yet how sorry I feel for Ben? Well, you know I have to include him. I was wondering all week if he knows something he’s not telling anyone. I know that he and Viki were having some problems before his trip out the window, but every time she was in the room with him, she didn’t get close to him unless she had to, and he never even reached out to hold her hand. VERY STRANGE!!!!! I also found it very strange when she told him she was going home to get things ready for his homecoming and he told her not to fuss because all he needed was cold beer and ESPN. Now come on folks…even those who don’t like Ben and Viki know that beer and ESPN would not be the first things on his mind after being cooped up in the hospital. We all know exactly what Ben would have said about Viki going to get things ready for him.  We can all say it together, “YOU KNOW I DON’T NEED ANYTHING BUT YOU.” There ya go. Something is going on….I just know it!

Sometimes I even feel sorry for Rex…boy, he sure came on the scene during the funkiest happenings in the Davidson/Buchanan household. When people tell him about what a great family they are and what a wonderful woman Viki is, he probably wants to have them committed to St. Ann’s for life. Try to explain to this kid that this is the most wonderful family in Llanview….hah! He’d probably find more sanity at Asa’s right about now.

Oh yes…how can I forget…I feel sorry for US having to endure that Hawaii shoot. What was that all about and what purpose did it accomplish? I kept waiting for us to see some fun stuff…a luau, some hula dancing…something to tell us we were in Hawaii other than the name of the hotel. At least Keri and Antonio are home and now we have to endure Todd, Tea and Ross “somewhere in the South Pacific.” They can stay “anywhere in the world” as far as I’m concerned, as long as they don’t show up on my screen.

I heard that Niki is going to try to kill Ben again…with poison…the drink spills and she gets busted. Can I wait that long? I don’t know if I can wait five more minutes for this lunacy to end.

And someone is going to be murdered in Llanview…and a big fire is going to be set. Some people think Al will set the fire. I say, if it gets him a ticket out of Llanview, let him do it…as long as no one gets hurt…of course.

Stay tuned…the ratings in some areas for OLTL have sunk below Passions. There’s something terribly wrong with that. Things can only get better….RIGHT????

See ya next week...

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS
______________

BettyJo75 writes: “I thought Star was the most talented singer of all the One Life To Live crowd.”

Dear BettyJo75:  You’ll get no argument from me. Kristen Alderson is one very talented little girl and she runs circles around just about everyone in the cast. The thing I love most about her is that in real life, she is the complete opposite of Starr. She’s a very sweet, polite and gracious little girl.

MLydick writes: “I am completely bored with the Niki/Natalie storyline. The writers have made Bo an idiot along with every other family member/friend of Viki's. I've been reduced to reading your articles and checking the recap on line because it's too irritating to watch OLTL. The writers should check their ratings.”

Dear MLydick:  As you well know, I am sick of the Niki storyline as well.  Bo might be getting a clue but he just hasn’t gotten his thinking cap into “Drive” yet. That’s our Bo…Slow Bo! I do appreciate the compliment and am happy that you read my articles, but don’t stop watching….Someone once gave me great advice when I was frustrated about something in my life and wanted to quit…she said, “How would you feel if you quit when the miracle could be 5 minutes away?” Now I know there are no miracles coming from our show, but I live in hope that it will turn around and get better…stick with it.

Janedawn1 writes: “I am trying to find a tape of the 4th of July episode "Babes Behind Bars." I was not able to watch it. Are there any copies or tapes available? I would be willing to purchase one also. I heard that it was wonderful! I would love to see it.”

Dear Janedawn1:  By printing your request, I am putting out the word to tons of people who tape the show religiously and also have dual VCR’s so that they can make duplicate tapes. If anyone responds and can help you out with a tape, I will be sure to post it here for you and give you the information. Hopefully we’ll be able to get you a tape…I loved it and I’m sure you will, too.
