<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Viki is back at Cherryvale, awaiting her last round of chemotherapy. She’s pacing the room and looks up hopefully at the sound of a knock on the door. Her face expresses her disappointment as Lanie pokes her head in. Viki comments on Colin’s lateness, and Lanie remarks that this is not at all like him. She then asks Viki how she’s feeling and Viki admits that, although the signs are positive and point to her being in remission, she’s still very scared. Lanie attempts to reassure Viki, who fears that the cancer may reappear. She insists she has to be well because her family needs her so much. She begins to divulge some of the problems between her sons and Kelly just as the latter walks in. Lanie excuses herself to go search for Colin. Kelly approaches Viki tentatively and apologizes for the situation between herself, Joey and Kevin. Viki is accepting and offers reassurance. Kevin and Joey arrive, seconds apart, and the tension in the room mounts. Viki watches her children and does her best to distract them by mentioning Colin’s absence. Kevin and Kelly struggle to make small talk. Kevin urges Viki not to worry about them, and Joey promises that they’ll work things out. The tension becomes too much for Kelly to bear and she apologizes for coming. Joey follows her out. Alone with his mom, Kevin tries to reassure her that everything will be okay. It’s obvious from her facial expressions that she’s not buying, so he attempts to distract her with an article on journalism.

Meanwhile, just outside Viki’s room, Joey calls out to Kelly. He remarks that he doesn’t want to drag things out. She apologizes, once again, for hurting him, and vows that she’ll do anything he wants. She’s totally unprepared when Joey responds that he thinks they should consider getting a divorce.

Over at Colin’s, he and Lindsay are still hovering over Nora. She has yet to regain consciousness, and Colin is increasingly concerned. He figures they should have seen some results from the antidote by now. Lindsay is verging on hysteria as Colin stares at the monitor Nora is hooked up to. He informs Lindsay that he sees evidence of abnormal brain activity and adds that the drug she gave Nora obviously affected her – and not in a positive way. Some time later, Colin places all of Nora’s personal effects, including the tape with Asa’s confession, in an envelope. He then returns to Nora’s side. Lindsay tries in vain to justify her actions by reminding Colin that Nora would have crucified them both, but Colin berates her for messing with Nora’s mind. Suddenly, Nora moans. Her eyes flutter as Colin calls out her name. He keeps encouraging her to open her eyes as Lindsay panics behind him. They’re both startled by the ringing of the doorbell. It’s Lanie, who lets herself in, then begins to call for her husband. He races down the stairs, claiming he overslept. Lanie voices her suspicions as she demands to know why he took the restricted medication without signing for it. Colin immediately goes on the defensive, accusing Lanie of being vindictive and trying to have his medical license revoked. Getting nowhere, Lanie changes the subject by asking why Lindsay is there. She recognizes her sister’s purse she offers, by way of explanation. Before Colin can answer, Lanie calls out for Lindsay. The latter claims that nothing is going on, but that she simply needed a shoulder to cry on and Colin was kind enough to provide one. Lanie asks Lindsay, point blank, if Colin gave her an injection. Lindsay denies it, and finally, Lanie leaves. Turning to Colin, Lindsay insists that they have to move Nora, but he firmly refuses.

Will and Todd are in a large shipping container, full of refrigerators, that is about to be loaded on to a cargo ship. Will is aghast that he’s going to be traveling in a metal box, but Todd quips that it’s much bigger than a casket. Will grows increasingly uneasy and decides he’s going to back out. Todd notes that “people come to this country like this all the time,” so Will should just suck it up and stop complaining already. Will counters that Todd is crazy, and he should never have listened to him. Todd appears ready to wash his hands of young Mr. Rappaport, but reminds him that if he goes home, he’ll end up in jail. Will isn’t so sure, since he was framed, but Todd remarks that lots of innocent people go to prison. He continues to play head games with Will by inferring that Sam will be a broken man if he loses Will’s case. Will claims that he’s ready to do his time, so Todd changes tack and begins to detail the horrors of seeing loved ones through plexiglass and being unable to tell them how things really are. Will doesn’t want to hurt his dad or Jessica, then adds that he hates the fact he pushed Jess away because of Cristian’s lies. He wants desperately to find Jess and explain everything to her, but Todd quickly discourages him by revealing that he saw Jessica and Cristian together and he could tell they were very happy. Sadly, Will tears up the note he wrote for Jess and agrees to leave the country. Before he goes, though, Will demands to know who will be waiting for him when he arrives at his destination. Todd deflects his questions, then suggests Will get a job when the latter wonders how he’ll support himself. Todd does ultimately offer Will a few dollars, then rises to leave. Will seeks reassurance that Sam got the message about Nora, and Todd lies that they’re both fine. Once alone in the cargo container, Will spots the cell phone Todd left behind and decides to place a call.

Over at the Buchanan mansion, Renee waits silently. Asa can be heard yelling out for Max and Nigel, wondering where his welcome home is. He pauses as he spots Renee, then tells her he knew she’d come to her senses. She resists his embrace, moving away slightly before inquiring about his vacation. He confesses that it was lonely and that he missed her. Renee advises him that there’s a lawyer coming to the house and he’ll accept one case – he’ll either represent Asa once he confesses to framing Will, or he’ll be Renee’s divorce attorney. Asa’s face darkens as he spits that Renee and her lawyer can “go to hell.” Renee assures Asa that he’ll end up bitter and alone. She walks out as Asa bellows for Max and Nigel. The latter enters, only to inform Asa that Max and Blair have gone off on a romantic holiday and he, himself, has to be somewhere. Asa curtly dismisses Nigel. Alone once more, the old man ponders Renee’s final words to him before picking up the phone and dialing his lawyer’s number.

In a Llanview courtroom, Sam and Hank face off before Judge Fitzwater in the hearing regarding Will. The judge admits that she finds the evidence Sam has presented compelling, but that Will’s continued absence would seem to speak to his guilt. She therefore declares that the “petition is dismissed.” Sam immediately requests that it be “without prejudice,” to which the judge agrees. Sam is dejected, but Hank insists that they gave it their best shot. He then opines that the longer Will is on the run, the harder it will be to clear him. Sam curses the fact that his son is lost to him because of Asa, and he then urges Hank not to pursue the charges against Jessica and Cristian. Hank retorts that he can’t just drop the charges, but Sam reminds him that there’s no evidence. After thinking it over a moment, Hank offers a plea bargain – “Suspended sentence, one year probation, one year of community service.” It’s the best he can do.

The duo in question have lingered in the courtroom. Jess is quiet, and Cris correctly assumes it has to do with Will. She talks about how Will let them down, but Cris tells her not to lie to herself about her feelings. Despite the way he hurt her, she doesn’t want to see Will in jail, Jess admits. She wonders if this bothers Cris, but he assures her he understands. Sam enters and explains the terms of the plea bargain to the two of them. They will have criminal records, but they’ll be for a misdemeanor instead of a felony, and he urges them to accept the deal – which they do. Moments later, judge Fitzwater walks by. Cristian requests a favor of her. He’d like her to speed up his annulment, if at all possible. The judge gives them a lecture on being too young for marriage, but ultimately agrees to see what she can do.

Out in the hallway, Sam confesses to Hank that he’s been thinking about Matthew’s paternity and the questions Hank raised on the matter. Suddenly, Asa appears and bellows that he’s putting Sam on notice that he’s petitioning the court for a DNA test on behalf of his grandson, Matthew. Jessica emerges from the courtroom just in time to hear her grandfather’s latest diatribe. Sam retorts that Asa is not related to Matthew. Jessica demands to know why Asa is doing this. He declares that he’s claiming what’s theirs, for the family. Jess insists that she believes Matthew is better off as a Rappaport and, in fact, she can’t wait to get married so that she can be “Mrs. Cristian Vega.” Sam and Asa continue their face off, and even Hank gets in on the act when he states that the more he hears Asa talk, the more he looks forward to bringing him down for framing Will. Asa scoffs at the D.A., encouraging Hank to take his best shot. Hank vows to find Bo, and if the latter doesn’t get Asa to back off, Hank promises he will. Asa stalks off and Hank leaves, too, just as Sam’s cell phone rings. He’s stunned to hear his son’s voice. Will apologizes for missing the reunion, but Sam is clueless. “With Nora,” Will clarifies. “Nora’s dead,” Sam reminds his son. Will reveals to his shocked father that he’s seen Nora, and that she’s alive.
