ONE LIFE TO LIVE RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, 2001

<<< BACK TO RECAPS  INDEX

Ben remains puzzled. Viki insists that his going with her wouldn’t make
sense. If she only did what made sense, she never would have married him,
Ben reminds his wife. He knows in his gut that something isn’t right, Ben
adds. “You’re right. Something’s wrong,” Viki begins. She had a checkup with
her oncologist, and… Ben’s face falls, and Viki quickly reassures him that
she’s fine, but that the doctor has told her she needs to reduce her stress
levels. Ben apologizes for being selfish. Viki whispers that she feels like
she’s letting him down, but that she has to do this for them, and for her
children. Ben pulls her into a hug, and Viki starts to cry. “I thought I
could do this, but I can’t. I can’t leave you.” Gina walks in. She
apologizes for coming at a bad time, and questions Ben and Viki as to
whether there’s anything wrong. Ben insists that they’re fine and tries his
best to get rid of Gina, but Ms. Russo pointedly brings up Viki’s children.
Her message is not lost on Viki, who informs Gina that she’ll be leaving
town later that day. “Bon voyage,” Gina offers, as she heads out. Ben can
see that Viki has made her decision. She swears that the last thing she ever
wanted to do was run out on him, but she has to. Ben counters that he always
thought he’d be the one leaving to keep her safe, but he figures that this
might do the job just as well. He promises that he’ll clean up this whole
mob mess before she gets home, with Gina’s help. Her back to Ben, Viki
grimaces, but responds that this would make a wonderful homecoming.

Ben wants some alone time with his wife before she leaves. As Viki struggles
to find a way around this, the phone rings. It’s Gina, with yet another
threat against Jessica. Turning to Ben, Viki lies that the car that’s being
sent to pick her up is on its way. “The car can wait. I can’t,” Ben
declares. “He’ll find the wire,” Gina curses. Viki manages to distract Ben
by promising that they’ll have days of lovemaking when she gets home. She
stares at him so intently, as if trying to memorize his face, that Ben
notices and quips about her speaking tour taking her to Neptune. “It might
as well be,” Viki replies. Trying hard to maintain her composure, Viki asks
Ben to “promise me you’ll be absolutely miserable.” “I’ll promise you
anything,” he vows, as they share a passionate, almost desperate kiss. As
Ben’s hands move over her body, Viki edges away, fearful that Ben will feel
the wire. Picking up her suitcase, Viki heads out. Ben looks around the
kitchen forlornly as Viki gets into Gina’s car. Ms. Russo snaps that Viki
was “this close to blowing it.” Viki insists that Ben bought the act, so it’
s time for Gina to back off Jessica. Gina places the call, and the car
speeds off. Viki inquires as to their destination, but Gina declares that
she doesn’t want to spoil the surprise.

RJ and Cris discuss the fact that things are looking up now that Colin is no
longer around. Will, who’s at Break Bar with Jessica, overhears his uncle’s
name and wonders what they know about Colin. Cris informs Will that Colin
seems to have fallen off the end of the earth. After noticing the state of
Will’s face, Cris quips that maybe Colin didn’t fall, but that he was
pushed. Will appears jumpy, and Cris surmises that it may have something to
do with Colin. Will denies it, and Jess steps between them before the
conversation gets too heated. Will orders Cris to stay away from Jen. “You
can stop playing hero, because MacIver is gone,” Will adds. Cris notes that
he was just joking about Will pushing Colin, but maybe… Will is curious as
to why Cris was looking for Jen the previous night. His sister was missing,
Cris informs Will, but he reassures Will that she’s been found.

Alone with Jessica, Will is quiet. She thinks he’s keeping something from
her, and urges him to let her in on the secret. Will responds that things
are coming together for them, and he’d never do anything to jeopardize that.
He heads off to see Jen. A clueless Jessica is approached by Gina’s goon,
who introduces himself as a fellow student. The two strike up a
conversation.

Meanwhile, RJ informs Cris that it’s time to “gear up for the next
delivery.” Cris urges caution and suggests that Antonio might be getting
close to figuring out who RJ’s police department source is. RJ opines that
Cris shouldn’t ask questions. Cris counters that he needs to know that RJ’s
source is good, as he doesn’t want to get busted on his first real job. He
takes care of things, RJ assures Cris.

Lindsay’s advice to Jen is that they forget all about last night. Jen admits
that her father doesn’t know what she really did. Colin really rattled her,
Jen adds. “Erase him from your mind,” Lindsay suggests. “I can’t, mom, and
neither can you,” Jen replies. She can’t believe that her mother is capable
of simply wiping away any unpleasant thought. She does what she has to,
Lindsay responds. Jen remarks that she did what she had to, “because of
you.” Jen informs Lindsay that she knows all about Lindsay’s part in Nora’s
kidnapping. Lindsay tries to deny it, but Jen reveals that she overheard
Lindsay and Will’s conversation. Lindsay tries to explain her actions away,
but Jen is fed up. “Why can’t you, for once, say ‘I did it. I was wrong?’”
Lindsay swears Jen to secrecy, deeming it best for all involved. Jen wonders
how her mother can sleep through the night. Lindsay is unrepentant and
insists that telling the truth will destroy her loved ones. Will arrives
just as Jen promises not to tell a soul.

“What’s going on?” Will asks. Lindsay claims she and Jen were just talking.
She hugs Will and reminds her children that they can get through anything as
long as they’re together. Once alone with Jen, Will repeats his earlier
question. Jen recalls all the times in their childhood when their parents
were fighting and Will would tell her that it would get better. “I’m still
waiting,” she whispers.

Roseanne is enduring a restless night. “You sleep like a woman with a guilty
conscience,” she hears Colin whisper. “You thought you were finished with
me,” he adds, as he suggests that he has other ideas. Roseanne wakes,
screaming. Antonio and Sophia burst in, guns drawn. Roseanne explains that
she simply had a bad dream, and wonders why they were outside her door. Bo
assigned guards to everyone who attended Colin’s little dinner party,
Antonio reveals. Sophia quizzes Roseanne as to why she was at the Cherryvale
Inn. Distraught, Roseanne pleads with Sophia to stop attacking her, but
Sophia counters that she’s merely asking questions. Antonio urges his
partner to back off. “If she knows something, she can tell me,” he states.
Sophia heads for the station. “I want to know what you’re hiding,” Antonio
demands of Roseanne. She insists that she has no idea what he’s talking
about. Antonio speculates that Roseanne might have helped Colin trap Nora.
She’s incredulous that he would believe such a thing of her. He admits that
he doesn’t, but that “if I can’t trust you to be honest with me, Roseanne,
then we have a problem.” She knows her rights, Roseanne declares, and she
doesn’t have to tell him anything. He’s not asking as a cop, Antonio assures
her. That may be the only way he’ll talk to her once he hears what she has
to say, Roseanne remarks, her tone fearful.

“I did something really stupid,” Roseanne begins. She hesitates to continue,
but eventually admits that she got drunk and slept with Colin. She swears
that it meant nothing, and she cries as she explains how awful she felt
afterwards. She informs Antonio that Colin demanded money from her, which
was why she was at the Cherryvale Inn. Antonio is furious at Colin for
taking advantage of Roseanne. She worries that this will change things
between them. “You told me the truth. That’s all I need from you, Roseanne,”
he assures her.

Todd and Blair are unpleasantly surprised to hear Bo’s voice on the other
side of the penthouse door. They are at each others’ throats as Blair taunts
Todd about going to jail and he worries about being caught in a police
uniform. Todd reminds Blair that he was about to steal the evidence against
her. “Do you want my help? You have to decide real soon,” he states. “Time’s
up!” Bo yells. As he prepares to break the door down, Officer Childs reminds
his boss that they don’t have a warrant. They have probable cause, Bo
counters, since Todd is inside with Blair Cramer, who hates his guts. He’s
worried for Mr. Manning’s safety, Bo suggests. The two men enter the
penthouse, only to find Todd and Blair snuggling together under a blanket.

Blair quips that, had Bo given her a moment to get decent, he wouldn’t have
had to damage the door. “What’s going on?” Bo queries. “Did you play hookey
from health class the day they taught this?” Todd muses. Ignoring the
taunts, Bo gets right to business. Officer Childs identifies Todd as the man
he thought was his partner that day. “You’re under arrest for impersonating
an officer,” Bo declares. Blair quickly remarks that the officer she was
with earlier looked nothing like Todd. He did have a scar, she agrees, but
it was on the other side of his face. Bo thinks her story is lame, but Blair
states that she’ll swear to it under oath if she has to. Todd vows to sue
Officer Childs personally, which causes the man to doubt his own version of
the truth. Bo receives a call he has to attend to. “Maybe someone was
impersonating me impersonating an officer,” Todd suggests. Childs
apologizes, but Bo insists that they’ll get Todd eventually, because he will
slip up at some point.

“You were great!” Blair exclaims once they’re alone. “Does that mean you
forgive me?” Todd wonders. Blair evades the question and, spotting the key,
unlocks the handcuffs. “Where do we go from here?” Todd presses. She can’t
answer that, Blair claims, because she doesn’t even know if she has a
future. She asks him to get the clothes from the evidence room, and she
leaves. Todd pulls a box from the fireplace and examines its contents – the
makings of a bomb.
