GANNON-VEGA-REYNOLDS: The Circle of "Life"!
Keri and Liz are discussing the events that occurred during their time in Chicago as they are flying back to Llanview. Liz thanks her for taking on the surrogacy, and Keri tells her that she's honored to do it. She continues on to say how sad it's going to be that the baby, should she come up pregnant, will never know its father. Liz agrees.
Keri is referring to her late stepfather, of course, and unbeknownst to her daughter or herself, Liz is referring to Antonio. Keri suddenly realizes that she hasn't called Antonio since they spoke after his hearing, and she reaches for the phone.
(I'm going to give the writers some credit and assume she reached for the plane's phone, since we all know that cell phones cannot be used on airplanes here on Earth.)
She gets through to him and tells him that she misses him and can't wait until she sees him. He tells her that he tried to reach her earlier, but to no avail. Where is she? She tells him she's on her way back, and she'll be there in an hour. They agree to meet at the University.
WEEEELL...the Llanview University is just buzzing with activity. Let's see..where do I begin?
Okay. Antonio is there waiting for Keri, and he bumps into RJ when he arrives in Keri's office with a bunch of flowers with which he intends to surprise her. He and RJ do their cold war thing, and RJ comes out of the blue with an offer to call a truce for Keri's sake. Both men shake hands to seal the deal, but their eyes tell a different story.
Later, as Keri arrives and heads into her office, she finds her father there alone. RJ carefully tries to extort information about her trip with well-dressed questions. Is everything okay? Yes, she says. She buckles down and confesses that she went to Chicago to comfort her mother. Her mother's husband, the man who'd raised Keri, had passed away suddenly. RJ, who had to bite the hurtful blow, asks her if her late stepfather was good to her. Keri assures him that she was well-loved. Keri ruefully tells RJ that she never told him why she left because she knows that he and Liz have some fatal friction lingering between them, and she didn't want to stir up any raw emotions in RJ.
Flash over to the student lounge, Antonio and Liz run smack into each other. They are both feeling shocked and awkward, but they manage to conjure up some polite small talk and ask each other how the other's situation made out.
He asks Liz if she caught up to the person she mentioned when they met, she says she did, but now she's actually in Llanview to meet someone new. Maybe Antonio would know who he is? Antonio says that it would be a good idea to start by giving him a name to go on. Liz clams up, her mind drifting off to her encounter with him, and she decides against it.
She again remembers their encounter, then flashes back to what she and Keri spoke about on the plane...the surrogacy. She tells Antonio that it's probably better to keep their anonymity because it's not likely they'll meet again anyway. She decides to look for Keri on her own and Antonio is left alone in the lounge.
Keri comes up behind him, and they share a joyous reunion. He returns her engagement ring, and they both agree that this time around, it won't come off. Then Keri tells him that she has something very important to tell him....
Over in Keri's office, Liz walks in, calling out Keri's name. She has enough time to get a sweeping glance of Keri's desk decor just before turning to leave and running smack into RJ!
RAE-RAY'S BIG MOVE
Rae barks orders at Nigel. She is sticking it to him hard for ratting her out to Renee. As she and Nigel squabble over a tacky lamp that he dug out of her attic, Hank arrives. He tells her that he was feeling badly about the way things ended when she was exposed and was hoping that maybe they could pick up where they left off.
Rae is surprised to discover that he doesn't know that she and Asa are married. She opts not to tell him just yet, and agrees to a lunch date later that afternoon. She's feeling terribly now, and Nigel picks up on her sadness. Later, as she continues to order the poor man around and watch him scurry about with oversized parcels, she makes a comment about hurrying up to return to marital bliss, which Hank returns to overhear.
He confronts her about it, and she confesses to her recent nuptials.
They get into a huge argument, and Hank storms off, Nigel zooms in and offers her some friendly advice. He tells her that she can have a second chance with Hank, but she tells him that was her second chance. Nigel's subsequent words do not help her, and she barks another order as she heads outside.
Nigel quickly picks up his cell phone and dials Asa. He tells the old coot that it appears his current Mrs. Buchanan has a soft spot...for the district attorney!
THE COMMISSION-NOT BARES ALLNOT!
Bo and Gabby share some romantic time as Bo dresses for work. Gabby tells him that she was hoping they could spend some time at home. Bo tells her that he has to go. She suggests that she stop by the station for lunch, he tells her that he's meeting with the mayor. They share a few more giddy jokes, and Gabby jumps up quickly realizing that she has to go to work.
She heads for the shower as Hank arrives and barges in to reveal the news that Asa and Rae were married. He's surprised to know that Bo already heard the news, and he's more surprised to discover that Bo intends to do nothing about it. He's annoyed with the blissful look in Bo's eyes, and the giddy attitude that Bo displays.
"Who slipped you a happy pill?" Hank asks. Bo says that everything in his life is going great. Gabrielle overhears Bo and smiles. Hank tries to pry, but Bo repeats that everything is going great. Just as Hank is pouring out his woes, a fully dressed Gabby comes downstairs. He tells Bo that he wasn't aware that his roommate was home, and he excuses himself a few moments later.
Gabrielle rips into Bo for not telling Hank that they are no longer just roommates. Is he ashamed of her? Bo is shocked, and maybe just a tad confused??
SUPERBROOM SPAWN LANDS AT LLANFAIR!
Natalie is worrying as the time ticks by, that maybe everything the evil-doers were telling her about her and Cris is true. After all, it had been hours since she had seen Cris, and he hasn't called or come by so...
She hears his voice call out from behind her and she is happy. She is about to run into his arms, but is stopped cold by the very disturbed look in his eyes, and now she's terrified.
Cris is beginning to tell her that something has happened, and just as he says that, Jen pops up and cheerily announces that she and Cris are getting married! Cris is trying to battle the shock of Jen's pregnancy, and now the shock of her outright lie. Natalie is confused and hurt, and since Cris is freaking out with all that's being thrown at him at once, he can't think clearly enough to straighten out Dizzy Lizzy's damage.
She is pouring out her venom a mile a minute. They're getting married, and it was a shock, but then again maybe not, considering the circumstances. Natalie is trying to register all of this, and all she can do is look at Cris, pleading with him to make everything okay.
He tries, but can't with the Superbroom chatterbox zooming in their ears. Natalie runs off, and Cris turns on Jen.
"Why did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Why did you say all those things to Natalie?"
"I just thought that you might want her to know about our great news."
"Yeah, I know you did. You need to stop thinking. You told her we were getting married. No one said anything about getting married. We haven't talked about anything."
"What's there to talk about? I'm having a baby, we love each other, we're living together...When I thought I was pregnant before, we were going to get married. Now, I'm really pregnant, and we have to talk about it?"
"That was a loooong time ago, Jen. We have a lot of things to talk about..to think about.."
"Like what? What's changed? What? You don't want the baby?"
"Of course I want the baby."
"Then, what? Please don't tell me you don't want to marry me!"
And then, folks...she pulls the old tears act, and Cris buys it. He hugs her and tells her that it's okay. She says that she knows it is..they love each other, and they're gonna get married.
Cris pulls away and tells her that they have to talk, so let's go back to the loft. Jen angrily says no, they'll settle it right there, once and for all.
LOONVIEW TEEN BEAT: UNIVERSITY SHOWDOWN!
Well, I have to give Norman Bates, Jr. some points for some really great Shawna hits, folks! I never thought I'd ever root for the psycho brat, but he came at Shawna with a couple of One-Two knockout punches, and won the round. Let's go to the Student Lounge....
Al is minding his own business, (for a change), and Shawna approaches him, Molly in tow, to taunt him about Jen. Al tells her to go take a flying leap over a cliff, in so many words.
Shawna taunts him, and says that it's a pity that he hangs on to what little friendship he can get from Jen, even though she is clearly stuck to Cris like glue. He'll always be the fifth wheel "friend". Al pauses to flash back to his encounters with Jen, and blurts out:
"For your information, Jen and I are more than just friends, alright? So, just buzz off."
Shawna presses for the gossip in that statement. She tells Al to spill the beans. Whatever does he mean by that? Al asks her why is his friendship with Jen so important to her and Molly?
Shawna says that everyone wants to know what the real deal is with him and Jen. Everyone knows that Natalie fawns over Cristian, but he's stuck to Jen, and everyone knows that Al follows Jen around, but she's stuck to Cristian, so what's the scoop?
Al counters brilliantly! He tells her that he has a good question for her. Why is it that she never has a guy? She tells him that she can have any guy she wants. He tells her:
"Oh, yeah? Where are they? No one wants you, Shawna, or you, Molly, and no one ever will. That's why you're so busy meddling in other people's lives. Why don't you GET A LIFE, and stay the HELL out of mine?"
He must have hit a nerve, because Shawna and Molly looked as if someone had just posted photos of them naked with the chicken pox on the University bulletin board when Al stormed away.
(Good shot, psycho brat!)
FINALE AT THE QUARRY!
Al storms away from the dimwit troublemakers, and heads straight to the quarry. He finds Natalie there, sobbing her heart out and saying:
"No! No! This can't be happening!"
"What can't be happening, Natalie?" he asks. They stand there, staring at each other...
