One Life to Live Recap for Wednesday, October 23, 2002

Well, folks! We watched the start of a war, the beginning of the unveiling of an impostor, and the mending of a couple of relationships unravel today. Amanda, let's see what we can make of these things today, shall we?

THE BUCHANAN TWIN PEAKS:

Well it seems to me that Jessica is not enjoying that Crow meal as much as she thought. I personally think that she has at least another two free meals to cash in on before she's paid Natalie off. But hey, I'm just an Earthling what do I know, eh, Mr. Tomlin?

Jessica and Nat continue their sisterly conversation down at the quarry. Jessica tells her that she can't believe they're sisters..and TWIN sisters to boot! They discuss the incident that caused them to separate, and they both have the same suspicion that Viki had yesterday when Todd mentioned how odd it was that Allison kidnapped and switched TWIN babies.

Jessica is shocked to hear Natalie say that she thinks it was planned that way, and Natalie elaborates. Think about it, Jess. Someone had decided that one of us would have a good life, and the other one wouldn't.
Who would do such a thing? Jessica wonders.

Flash over to Mitch Lawrence, who is reading an archived article about the baby switching story. There's a picture of Natalie and Jessica on the front page, and the headline reads:

"TWIN BABIES SWITCHED AT BIRTH."

Flash back to the girls at the quarry, and they are discussing that if it weren't for Roxy, Allison and Dr. Balsam, they would have grown up together, and they might have even been friends.

Flash back to Mitch Lawrence, he is again looking at an archived newspaper article, and this time there's a picture of Natalie on the front page, and the headline reads:

"HEIRESS WORTH MILLIONS".

There's a smug look of satisfaction on his face.

Does anybody else still think that he isn't Mitch Lawrence?

ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILEGES–PT. 2:

Todd slams the door to get the attention of the Blair and Sam. They jump apart and Blair angrily demands to know what he's doing there. He tells her that he's there to see his lawyer.

He walks into the office and Blair tells him that she and Sam are together now. He says he noticed. He turns to Sam and tells him that he wants to see him about getting his children back. Sam tells him that it's not going to happen. Todd expected that, he said, considering that Sam has been spending his time comforting Blair.

Blair angrily tells him not to blame Sam for all that went wrong. Todd said, okay, he won't blame Sam. He'll blame her. With a renewed strength, (and a refreshing change for us viewers), Blair tells him to do just that. Blame her for loving him so much that she forgot what a low-life creature he really is.

Blame her for allowing him to break her heart a million times over. When he took their son away, and told her that it was dead, a piece of her died with him.

Todd screams that she didn't tell him that the baby was his. She screams back. She tells him that she loved him so much that she wanted to spare him the same pain and grief that she was suffering. She didn't want him to feel that pain, because she loved him with every beat of her heart.

When he brought that beautiful little baby back and begged her to "adopt" him, she agreed, because she loved him, and she knew it would make him happy, and that's all she ever wanted..

So, yeah, Todd, you go on and blame me for everything. But I can promise you this...

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

Todd remains quiet and Sam asks Blair to let him talk to Todd alone. She leaves, and Sam tells Todd all the things he didn't know. That in Hawaii, Blair had told Sam that she would be willing to forgive Todd for the sake of their family being together. That she told Sam that she loved Todd and was considering returning to him in Llanview.

Todd is shocked, and asks Sam why Blair didn't come find him and tell him this herself. Sam tells him because just as she was about to do that, some big burly men arrived to kidnap the children.

"So you see, Todd? YOU are your own worst enemy. If you have any ounce of care for Blair at all, you would let have this new life that she's building for herself and you'd back off."

Todd ponders for a minute, then walks over to the office door and summons Blair inside. He tells her that he's made a decision about her and Sam. They can play house all they want, but they don't get to have everything. He's taking his children back!

ALL IN THE FAMILY: REUNIONS–PT. 3:

Natalie and Jess share one final bond at the quarry. As they discuss their past, Natalie stops mid-sentence and her eyes begin to brim over with tears. She tells Jessica that she just realized that Jessica had Roxy arrested for her.

Jessica tells her that they are sisters, what was she supposed to do? Roxy did a terrible thing to her all of those years. She had to pay for that.  Natalie says that she can now do something for Jessica. Jessica tells Nat that she has nothing to do for her after the way she treated her in the past year.

Natalie says: "Never mind that. Seth did NOT sleep with me that night! He came to the house looking for YOU. He loves YOU, Jess! I was a mess.."

"Oh, that's right!" Jessie says, "because you thought..."

"...I didn't think anything, Jess. Cristian told me he loves me, but Jen is pregnant, and he's doing the right thing."

Jessica softens with understanding now. She realizes that Nat was telling the truth from the beginning. She apologizes for not believing her. Nat tells her to forget about that, she needs to finish telling her the truth.

She tells Jessica the truth behind Seth being in her room that night. Jessica realizes that since she was already upset with Seth for going to Michigan, she saw what she wanted to see. Natalie urges her to give Seth another chance, then she leaves. A few minutes later, Seth arrives, telling Jess that he's going to MAKE her talk to him. Needless to say, they made up.

MANNING MADNESS: THE NEXT GENERATION:

Nora tells Starr that before any attorney takes on a case, they usually find out what the case is about. She hands Starr's money back to her and asks her to tell her what this is all about. Starr tells her that Todd is back in town, and her mommy won't let her and Jack see him. She wants to hire Nora to make that happen.

Nora tells her that she can't do that. She can't go against Blair's wishes, because she's a mom herself, and she knows that Blair is only trying to protect her from what she feels will be dangerous.

Starr is hurt and rudely throws Nora out. When Nora leaves, Starr tells herself that she doesn't need Nora's help. She'll find a way to do it herself.

SIGH..She was doing so well...

ROXY'S "MAXI":

Roxy grips the bars of her prison cell for dear life and starts cursing the gods for her bad luck. The guard comes along and orders her to shut-up, she has a visitor.

Max saunters over with a smug grin on his face and she greets him excitedly. Max asks her why she's there, and she tells him all about it.
He is shocked, and he starts asking her all of these questions.

So she's not really Jessie's mom? REALLY? The girls are TWINS?
WHAT?!

Roxy is impatient and tries to sell herself to Max yet again. She was going to leave town, you know. Max asks her what stopped her? She said that her hubby asked to have dinner with her, so she stayed. You came to spring me from this place, right?

As a matter of fact, Max informs her, he's there to make sure she stays there! Roxy is crushed, but Max keeps drilling the knife into her wounds, He reminds her of how awful her actions were. I mean, to think she would steal a child from its mother. TSK TSK!

He walks away grinning and stops a few feet away from her cell to place a call to Nora. He tells her to meet him at his house to discuss the break in his case against Roxanne.

Roxanne sulks as he walks away.

Later, he and Nora are at the Mill House. He explains all to a very shocked Nora. Nora asks him what's with the table setting, and he quickly tells her that they were going to have dinner when the police nabbed her. Nora asked him why would he be having dinner with her when he hates her?

Max's grin comes down to a smirk when he explains that she did him a big favor...she gave him Luna back. He explains all and as Nora leaves, he's starting to feel guilty about Roxanne.

TROUBLE IN THE SAINT'S HOUSE!!–PT. 2:

Keri asks Carlotta what happened. Carlotta tells Keri that Innocencia just announced that after all of her years of being in Angel Square, she's moving to Miami. Antonio is relieved and quickly tells his mom that she can always visit Innocencia in Miami.

Carlotta is not consoled. She tells Antonio that she's losing her best friend after all these years. Keri suggests that Carlotta join her to find a calendar. They can mark a date for Carlotta's first visit to Miami, and it will make Carlotta feel better.

As they leave, Antonio rushes outside to find Liz, whom he'd shooed outside when this scene first took form. She is frantic when she sees Antonio, thinking that his mom figured it out. Antonio quiets her down, and tells her the real deal.

Liz is relieved to find out that nosy Innocencia is leaving today, so things should get better. Just as they are relaxing, Innocencia comes outside and says:

"I know you! You're that beautiful lady that Antonio was with at the motel that night! Come, let me show you off to Carlotta!"

Antonio convinces her that if she goes back inside, it will be harder for Carlotta to say good-bye. Innocencia leaves and we flash back to Keri and Carlotta at the counter.

Keri is consoling Carlotta and suggests that she and Liz get to know each other. Carlotta tries hard to hide the distaste for the idea from her face, but...TOO LATE! Keri caught on. She convinces Carlotta to reconsider, and as Liz enters, Carlotta takes the first step.

She tells Liz that she's making a baby blanket for Jen and Cristian's baby, and she was wondering if Liz would like one for her baby. Liz says she would. The two moms disappear into the back and Antonio playfully accuses Keri of playing Matchmaker.

She says guilty, then starts rattling on about how great she feels for her mom. She's happy that Liz will have a second chance at motherhood. She tells Antonio about the look she saw on Liz's face when Liz found out she was pregnant.

Antonio panics. Keri was WITH Liz when she found out she was pregnant? Keri confirms, then Liz calls her to the back to look at fabric samples. As Keri leaves, Antonio realizes that she may be carrying his baby, and a tear rolls down his cheek.
