One Life to Live Recap for Wednesday, January 30, 2002

TWIN PEAKS:

Lindsay’s flight around Llanview on her superbroom lands her at the docks, where she spies troy and Nora engaged in a very deep discussion about her. Lindsay, not happy with the sight, beats Troy to his loft. He steps out of the elevator and finds her standing outside of his door, and immediately slips into the role of the doting fiancé. Lindsay shuns his advances and Troy asks her what’s wrong. She tells him that she knows what he’s doing and the game is up. Although apprehensive, he maintains his cool and probes Lindsay to see what she knows.    What is Lindsay talking about? Troy wants to know. What game is she referring to?

She tells him that she saw him on the docks with Nora and again, Troy is apprehensive but maintains his cool. He’s relieved, however, when she tells him that she saw him with Nora, and he had his hands all over her. He chalks it up to feminine jealousy and begins to pour on the charm and engages in romantic sweet talk to smooth her over, but Lindsay stands firm. As they head into the loft, Lindsay continues to hammer Troy about what she saw at the docks, and Troy counters with the charm “You misunderstood what you saw,” he tells her. Nora followed him to the docks to tell him that marrying Lindsay was a mistake, and he made it clear to Nora that despite her protests, his feelings for Lindsay would remain unchanged. Lindsay angrily tells Troy to stop his games because she not only saw him with Nora, she heard him as well.  UH-OH!

Nora tiredly enters her home after her trying encounter with Troy and is startled when she switches on her light and finds Sam sitting on the couch waiting for her.  She wasn’t expecting him, and he confirms that, saying that she disappeared from the gallery, so he let himself in and waited for her for quite awhile. Where did she go? She lunges into a session of maniacal ranting about Lindsay, (more to herself than out loud), and somewhere in between her mumbles, Sam gets in a repeat of his question regarding her whereabouts and she blurts out a confession that she had to discuss something with Troy and she’d met with him. Sam asks her if she went to talk Troy out of marrying Lindsay, and she affirms, prompting Sam to ask her why.  She replies, why should Lindsay be allowed to be happy with anyone after what she did to her?

“I thought you were over that?” Sam says, “You told me you wanted to put that behind you.” And she tried, Nora says, with a tortured look in her eyes, she really tried, but she can’t. It’s hard not to think about her life without thinking about Lindsay’s part in the misfortunate events that took place in it.  Sam, in shock, realizes and states that Nora still hates Lindsay as much as ever, and he’s the reason why. Confused, Nora immediately tells him that he’s not to blame, but Sam continues to point out the reasons why he’s t blame. He fell for Lindsay’s crocodile tears when she came crying to him about Jen, she helped to conspire with Lindsay during Colin’s murder trial, he didn’t exactly turn her away when he allowed her to live in his house, and he didn’t do his part in making sure that Lindsay paid for what she did to Nora. Truthfully, he prompts Nora, was all that really okay with her? She sincerely tells him that it wasn’t. He makes a promise as he pulls her into his arms that he won’t fail her again.

PARENTS, CHILDREN COPS & ROBBERS:

Antonio and Carlotta, sharing a table with Hank & Bo, begin small chats about his award nomination and Keri. Antonio tells his mother that he and Keri broke up, and Carlotta honestly replies that she can’t truly say she’s unhappy about that. Now, if only they would never have to see RJ again. Their attention is briefly diverted as Rae begins to lead off the ceremony with an announcement that the originally scheduled speaker wasn’t able to attend. Just before Rae completes her sentence, Keri rushed in to announce that she is in fact, present to emcee the ceremony as planned. She makes her way up to the podium unaware that Antonio, who, like her, wasn’t supposed to be there, is watching her. She gracefully makes her way up and scans the room, shocked as her gaze locks with Antonio’s .

She promises not to keep the audience guessing who the winner is by getting right to the reading of the envelope, and is more taken aback when she announces the recipient..(Surprise, surprise!) Antonio Vega.

A thunderous roar of applause fills the room as Antonio takes the Victory Walk up to the podium, where Keri awkwardly attempts to hide their connection to each other. Both of them make revolving door speeches that tell the ceremony guests of their great professional relationship, but are really a front for their true feelings to each other.

Both RJ and Carlotta ominously observe the exchange between their children. As Antonio concludes his speech, the two are forced to pose together for a photo taken by an eager photographer, and as Antonio re-joins his mother, the DA and the police commissioner, the younger Gannons watch, (RJ in fury, Keri in pain) as a peppy woman named Wendy stakes a claim on Antonio and propels him towards the door. But not before Antonio stops and turns to face Keri, sharing the pain in her gaze.

TWO CAN PLAY THE CON GAME!

Back at the gallery, Gabrielle, wearing the stolen outfit she heisted from the Silver Moon boutique, stages a “run-in” with David Vickers. She flirtatiously drops hints of her impending “fashion business” venture, telling a rather bored and uninterested David, (who detected the con long before Gabbie made her way over to him), the cleverly-spun tale of how great the business is doing with the misfortune of one small minor detail, her “capital” is tied up in a Swiss bank account and she can’t access it in fast enough to move forward as quickly as she’d like to. David, humoring her, (or himself?) asks her why couldn’t she just have the funds wired to her? “it’s a Swiss holiday over there’ Gabbie nervously replies. Which holiday would that be, David wonders aloud. Gabbie fishes for an answer quickly, and the best she could whip up? “Oh, who knows? They have so many!” David, now impatient with her feeble attempts  to play a game she in which she clearly lacks the skills to play, roughly turns her around and exposes the sales tag she had failed to remove from the dress during her heist, and says, scornfully, “Oh this must be a grand new fashion!” Enter Renee, cat claws honed, who begins to dig into Gabrielle when the now embarrassed woman spits out, “Leave me alone, Renee. I’m in the middle of a legitimate business conversation here.”  Legitimate? Renee scoffs with a snort, there isn’t a legitimate bone in Gabrielle’s body. So what’s the deal? Who’s scamming who?

But Renee’s not done! Refusing to waste her perfectly sharpened claws on just a few measly jabs, she continues to dig into Gabrielle, rubbing her nose in all of the misfortune that has befallen Gabrielle in the past weeks….Her attempt to scam Asa resulted in her being tossed out on her…well,  she was tossed out without a shiny red cent to her name, she lost Al,  and she lost Max. Still scoffing, Renee walks away with a sneering laugh that stripped Gabrielle of her faux confidence. GREOOOOW!!!                                   

MANNINGS AND MAYHEM:

Blair, still haunted by the feeling that Todd has yet another secret he’s not sharing with her, continues to prod her husband to reveal his secret. She assures him that whatever he did, she’ll forgive him. Todd contemplates, (if only for a short moment), trusting in her words, but quickly grabs his cell phone and calls for a pizza! Blair snatches the phone away and hangs  up on the other end, telling Todd to quit playing dodge games and talk to her. Again, Blair reassures him that nothing he tells her will make her leave him.

After all, she did things to him that were horrible and they still managed to find a way to stay together despite those things. Todd, ridden wit h guilt and fear, tells her that there’s something he has to tell her about how they got Baby Jack. Noooo, it wasn’t the truth as  we know it. It was the truth in “The World According to Todd Manning;”

He spins a tale about the baby’s adoption, telling of how he shelled out some money to get Jack. Horrified Blair asks him,, “WHAT? You paid Nellie for Jack?” Blair is terrified of his revelation. What if someone found out what he did and came and took Jack away ?

She couldn’t handle it if she lost another baby. Todd assures her  that will never happen .He tells her that all he did wrong was pay to have their names pushed higher up on the “adoption” list. Again, she panics about losing  Jack,  and again Todd assures her that Jack is theirs to keep.

“Just tell me on thing. Is Jack ours?” Blair asks. In every way that counts, Todd replies. If that’s so, then why is Todd so jittery about the baby? Because David somehow found out about what he “did” and is blackmailing him into keeping quiet. Blair once again, panics, but his time her panic is laced with anger. Just as Blair sits down to hear the rest of the story, the phone rings…It’s David Vickers!

TWIN PEAKS—SCENE 2:

After Troy finds out that Lindsay only heard the tail end of his & Nora’s conversation on the docks, he works his magic and they end up making love. After a few minutes of romantic pillow talk, Lindsay tells him that she feels as though she finally found someone who understands her and loves her just as she is, and she feels that Troy could forgive her for anything. He gives her a romantic smile then waits until she goes in the shower and says to himself: “I could forgive you for anything, except for what you did to Nora and my brother.” Then he picks up his cell phone and dials his home phone number, letting it ring so Lindsay would hear it and come out to investigate. Lindsay’s supersonic hearing is activated, and she takes the bait. She watches as Troy says hello, then angrily barks, “WHO IS THIS?” He hangs up the phone with a frightened look on his face and Lindsay asks him who was on the phone. He says he doesn’t know, but she shouldn’t worry about it. Phase Three of the MacIver Twin Revenge Crusade is perfectly executed! Lindsay’s superbroom loses yet some more of its fuel!

MANNINGS AND MAYHEM: PT. 2:

Todd watches in horror as Blair angrily tells David Vickers that she knows all about his attempt to blackmail Todd and his scheme won’t work. David asks Blair what exactly it was that Todd told her. Todd grabs the phone from her and engages in a staged argument with David that was meant to appease Blair. Blair tells Todd after he hangs up on David that she was going to go up and hold Jack. As she disappears, he calls David back and tells him that he’ll have the million dollars David demanded in a half hour. David reiterates that Todd had better have the money if he wanted to keep his secret. Be on the docks with the money in a half-hour on the dot. Todd then places another call to a mystery person and informs them that he has an assignment for them.

 LLANVIEW’S LAW & ORDER:

After celebrating the awards ceremony, Bo receives a call on his cell phone from Hank, informing him of a crime that has taken place at the Silver Moon Boutique, and he thinks Bo should come down and take a look at the evidence………..

THE DOCKS:

Gabrielle finds solace in the docks’ isolation, where she retreats to lick her wounds in private. Not too long after she’s there, she’s startled by the sound of oncoming footsteps.

She ducks for cover behind some barrels and peeks out from her hiding space to investigate. She’s surprised to see Todd there alone, but her surprise transforms into curiosity when she sees David appear and takes money from Todd. She overhears their conversation and realizes that she may just have bought herself a meal ticket after all.
