One Life to Live Recap for Tuesday, December 17, 2002

Personal Message to Katherine and to all my readers:

I want to apologize for my failure to provide a recap for the week of Dec. 2. I have received several e-mails from loyal readers asking me what has happened, and now I'd like to let you know.

My youngest daughter had contracted scarlet fever from another child in her Pre-K, and was violently ill. She had eventually passed it on to my other three children and as a result, I had been doing triple overtime for the past two weeks dispensing prescriptions and battling high fevers. I appreciate the e-mails of support and concern from those of you who knew, and if I haven't responded to you, now you know why. I want all of you to know that I greatly value your loyal readership and support, and would really appreciate your continued support from here on.

And to you, Katherine, you are the greatest boss in the world!
The good news is...

I'M BAAAAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!!! Without further ado, the recap!

LOONVIEW TEEN BEAT:

Story Number One: The Resurrection, The Sting!!

Viki and Mitch face off as she continues to play decoy in an attempt to free her daughter from Mitch's bondage. Viki tries hard to control her panic after both she and Mitch heard the loud crashing of the broken lamp.
Mitch goes to the bottom of the staircase to investigate.

He harshly calls out to Natalie, demanding to know what's going on, and Bo quickly warns Viki to keep Mitch away from upstairs. Viki immediately reacts, telling Mitch to not walk away from their conversation. She frantically throws around Jessica's name, desperately trying to get Mitch to ignore what he heard upstairs.

Mitch is satisfied to hear Natalie tell him that she accidentally knocked over a lamp and he returns to Viki.
Upstairs, Cris is racing against time trying to persuade Natalie to come with him, away from Mitch. Still terrified of the repercussions with Mitch has threatened her, she tells Cris that she's not going anywhere, she's going to stay with her husband. Cris refuses to believe that she's telling the truth, and he tells her that he's not leaving without her.

After a very long and nail-biting tug-of-war, Natalie finally agrees to go with him. Bo quickly informs Viki that Natalie was out and she needed to do the same.  Viki flips the script and attempts to leave, but Mitch gets suspicious. He asks Viki why the sudden change of heart?

Viki covers well, and tells him that they are obviously at an impasse, since Viki won't call Jess if Mitch won't agree to her terms. He tells her that she'd better call Jess or...

Viki yells out, "Or WHAT? What can you POSSIBLY do to me that you haven't done already?" Mitch begins to threaten her, telling her that he still has Natalie as his wife, but Viki needs to realize that there is soooo much more that he can do yet.

He's interrupted by a knock on the door. He hisses and opens the door for Bo. Mitch makes a comment about Bo arriving in the nick of time to save a damsel in distress. The question is, how did he know that there was a damsel in need of rescuing?

Bo covers, telling Mitch it was purely coincidental, as he had come to talk to Mitch about the murders of Walter Balsam and two other nurses that were on duty when Viki gave birth to the girls. Mitch tells him that he wasn't the commissioner back then, Bo says he is now.

Mitch tells him that they died outside of Bo's jurisdiction, Bo asks him how he could know that when no one mentioned the location of the victims' deaths. Mitch says he reads the newspaper. Bo says then he must read a hell of a lot of them because the victims died in three different states.

They exchange a few more challenges, then Mitch asks them to excuse themselves so that he can go upstairs to have some intimate time with his WIFE...(a smug glance in Viki's direction.)

They leave and Mitch screams out for Natalie. After a few more yells, he climbs the stairs, and walks into an empty bedroom with the window wide open as evidence of Natalie's escape.

He flips out in a rage, people, and dials Bo's cell phone. Bo smugly receives the call and Mitch growls that Bo tricked him.

Safe back in Viki's cabin, Cris and Natalie hash things out. Still hanging on to the fear for her loved ones' lives, Natalie tries her best to convince Cristian that she doesn't love him anymore, and he needs to take her back to her husband.

The argument goes back and forth for a good while, because Cris tells her that she can scream out that she loves Mitch until pigs fly, but it will be a cold day in Hell before he accepts that as the truth, or before he lets her go back to Mitch.

Natalie feebly tries to hang on to her proclamations of love for Mitch, but she's weakened by her love for Cris, and we end that session with Cris taking her into his arms and slipping into the prelude to a kiss.

Story Number Two: The Twit, The Spawn, and the Redemption of a PsychoBrat!!

WOOO-HOOOOOO!!

Never let it be said that hope isn't alive! Maybe it is the Christmas spirit in the air, but I was actually CHEERING for Al Holden today!! Yes, Al baby, you ROCKED!!!!! Now, folks, I grant you the opportunity to find out what the hell I'm talking about. Ready? Here we go.

Jen and Marcie are standing outside Llanfair going over the details of their quest to discover Jess' whereabouts. Marcie tells Jen that although she's aware of the plan details, she doesn't understand how finding Jess will help her get Cristian back. (Well, THERE'S a surprise!!)

Jen, visibly annoyed, once again tells Marcie that Nat's husband wants to find Jess, and if she can grant him that wish, she feels that Mitch will return the favor.

They ring the bell, and Lois answers. Jen asks to see Jessica, Lois tells her that she's not in. Jen asks if she knows when Jess will return, because she has to give her some English Lit notes for a final. Lois reaches out to accept the notes on Jessica's behalf, but Jen snatches it away and says that she has to give Jess the notes herself. Is there any way that she can wait for her?

Lois, becoming uncomfortable, tells Jen that Jess is out of town, so that won't be possible. Jen is almost demanding of the poor rattled housekeeper to give her a phone number, or ask someone where Jess is, because if Jess doesn't get the notes, she'll fail the test. She goes on to tell Lois that it's okay to tell her where Jess is, she's Jessica's best friend.

"THAT'S a lie!" calls a voice from behind them. Lois looks relieved when she sees Al Holden step up onto the porch. Al asks Lois if Jen is giving her a hard time, and Lois explains that Jen keeps pushing for info about Jess that she doesn't have. Al tells Lois to go back to whatever it is she was doing before the annoying little mosquito arrived, and he'll be sure to fly-swat her on Lois' behalf.

Lois gratefully does just that.

Al turns to Jen and asks her what she's up to. Why is she looking for Jessica? Jen barks at him, asking him what he's doing there. Al tells her that he came to see Jess and certainly did not expect to run into her and her little sidekick in the process.

Marcie starts to protest, but Jen tells her to relax, she'll handle Al. Al asks her why she's so desperately seeking Jess, so desperate that she's willing to lie to find out where Jess is. Jen tells him to stay out of her way. Al tells her that he knows her little plot has something to do with Natalie and Cris.
Jen is still trying to keep them apart. Al teases her about being desperate, and going to such lengths to keep Natalie away from Cris is low, even for her.

Jen snaps that she doesn't need to keep them apart...Nat's married! What? To who? Jen says to a Michael Lazarus. A man old enough to be her dad. However, she's not surprised that AL didn't know, considering that he and Nat are far from friends. So anyway, as she was saying, it's clear that Nat is over Cris.

Al smugly tells her not to be so sure of that, and SuperSpawn tells him to stay out of it. Al taunts her, telling her that no matter what she does, Cris still is out of her reach.

Jen tries to turn the tables on him. She bats her eyes,

(NOT an attractive Jen gesture, considering that she's a neurotic and twitchy, and batting her lashes makes her come out looking like she has a tick)

and asks him why he can never be nice to her. He flips out at the audacious question, and asks her how she can dare to say that to him. Pouring on the saccharin, she asks him why he just can't go inside and ask Lois where Jess is.

Al asks her why on earth would he do that? Maybe because he made her lose her baby. Al grabs her by the arms, and hisses that he will always be sorry that she lost THEIR baby, but he is through letting her use that to guilt him into doing whatever she wants him to do.

She asks him what his problem is, why is he being that way? He tells her...

AND HERE IS THE CLINCHER, FOLKS!!

He tells her that he finally woke up. He finally realized that she's not the person he thought she was. She counters with, well what kind of person is HE? The kind of person that goes around setting fire to people's houses?

He tells her that the fire is the only thing that she has to hold over his head. He tells her to turn him in. Go ahead, he can't stop her. But as he said, the fire is the only thing that she'll ever have over his head.

"Is that supposed to mean something to me?" she says sarcastically. Al shrugs, saying,

"Don't know. Don't care. I don't love you anymore, Jen. I finally realize that I deserve someone better than you. In fact, I hope that this is the last time that you and I ever see each other!"

And with that, folks, Mr. Holden walks away. BRAVO, AL! Bravo, Nathaniel! And to think, he didn't even need to go to Dr. Rae-Ray's therapy session to get cured! WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!!

Story Number Three: The Prodigal Daughter's Return!!

Although Jessica is suddenly loving Natalie ever since the discovery of their fraternal twinship, I am still rooting for her to eat that plate of Crow. And guess what, people? SHE'S ON HER WAYTO THE DINNER TABLE!! HA HA!

After locking Seth in the bathroom back at their getaway hotel, (she's showing signs of being a chip off the old block already!), she heads back to Llanview in her car.

(UH-OH! Jessica behind the wheel of a car?? THINKING?? UH-OH! Remember Dorian Lord?)

She is trying to piece together all of the things that she's been uncovering in an effort to get to her mother's true reason for sending her away. She has flashbacks of Viki begging her to leave at Llanfair, and subsequently a flashback of Seth blurting out that Jess can't know what's going on until the time is right. She says aloud that she doesn't need to be protected, and she WILL go home and get to the truth.

She finally arrives, and no one is home. No one, that is, except Rex. (Jeez, hasn't anyone kicked this kid to the curb yet?)

Rex can't help her with any info, and she doesn't catch on to his discreet way of extracting info about Seth. She again goes off into a trance. What is my mother hiding?

DIVORCE COURT??

Asa, Renee and Max are on opposite ends of the spouse-ditching plans. Asa is wooing Roxy over at the Holden Manor, and Renee and Max are digging their claws into Rae-Ray's emotions over at the Break Bar.

Asa manages to appeal to Roxy's vanity and love for a good time. He tells her that Max doesn't love her and never will. She tells him that Max will come around. Asa tells her that he is nuts about her, and she would make him the happiest man in the world if she told him that she feels the same way.

Roxy gives Asa a good run for his money, telling him that she loves Max. She can't explain it, she just does. Asa tells her that Max is a clown with no money, while he on the other hand has plenty of money and more to offer. Roxy defends Max, saying that he owns a bar.

Asa says the BANK owns the bar. Roxy is shocked. The comedy routine goes round and round, until finally Asa leaves her alone to make a decision. Roxy turns to her favorite counselor, the gin bottle, for guidance. The more inebriated she became, the less worthy Max seemed. In the end, she opted for Asa.

Back at the Break Bar, Renee is saucing it up, pretending to be consumed with hurt. Rae is trying to offer Renee all sorts of comfort, but it's clear that all Renee wants is Asa. When all else seemed hopeless, Max tried his hand in the mix.

He appealed to Rae's emotions by pretending to agree with Rae's point of view. He knows EXACTLY how Rae feels! He did the same thing. He wanted the power that came with the Buchanan fortune, and he schemed to get it. Rae says that Max couldn't possible compare the two situations. Max tells her that there's nothing wrong with that. It's a shame that he didn't really turn out to be Rae's son, because...

That's as far as he got, folks, because Rae-Ray ran screaming from Max and over to Renee. She told Renee that she will grant Asa a divorce..for a 90/10 split of his fortune...in her favor!

Tune in tomorrow, folks!
